These were $1 the other week, now they're $15…

    That's a 1400% price increase!

yeah i know.. i do bought 4 when it is $1. but now no longer available.

    • I looked at that like I was getting half off the shopping because I needed to buy the Telstra sims (credit) anyway.

    • there was a condition you had to spend $30 before you could purchase at that price

      • I just check. there were no condition at all

        • +1

for the current offer of $15 there is no condition,
but a few weeks ago to purchase the starter pack for $1 at Coles there was that requirement

  • can i port my anasim number? thanks

    • what's an anasim number?

      • Anasim is a Total Power Integrity consulting team.

    • +2

If it was an amaysim number, you could.

      • thank you

    • i assume so..

    • You're not supposed to insert a sim card there.

  • I still don't know what to do with these.

    • 3GB of data….

    • +1

Buy two of them and transfer the credit from one to the other for a total of 15Gb of data + $24 google play credit on one sim card and 1.3Gb of data + $220 of calls at inflated call rates on the other.

Method is explained in the telstra wiki

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/telstra_pre-paid_starter_p…

      • 15GB? Can you point out which part in particular to read on the link you provided?

        • The TL;DR version

          1) Register sim 1 as data pass sim this gives you 3Gb and $30 google play credit

          2) Register sim 2 as a phone sim night plan, creditme2u $24 to sim 1 in $1 payments over three days (you can only transfer $10 per day so it takes 3 days and it "costs" 25c per credit to send). This gives you 500Mb per transfer = 12Gb and $24 of extra Google play credit and leaves you with $220 of call credit and 1.3Gb on sim 2.

          3) Expiry is a problem - data expires in a month if you don't recharge with a $50 voucher that gives 5Gb and a 365 day expiry.

        • @iratepirate:

          Thanks… didn't know $1 will buy 500MB.
Will c2u extend the expiry? If I transfer $1 a day before expiry wouldn't it extend another 14 days?

        • @wildstone: It extends the google play expiry by a few days each time you transfer credit - mine doesn't expire until 2020.

The data expiry might be extended by a couple of days (but not 14) if the recharge is done on the last day - i haven't tried it myself.

        • @iratepirate:

Thanks mate. Wow 2020 is two Olympic s away.

  • Thanks IP, I think I'll get myself two today.

  • Sorry for being an ignorant fool but I have just one quick question…

I'm currently with Boost mobile. I'm paying $40 a month for calls, texts and about 2.5Gb of data. Is it worth porting my number over to one of these sims and taking advantage of both the data and calls/texts or should I keep my current plan and just use the sim in my iPad for data?

The reason I ask is that I barely make 10 mins of calls a month and maybe about 100 texts. It's data that my main priority….and mainly on my iPad.

  • Can I buy 2, then port my amaysim number using the 1st package, then top up after a month with the 2nd package? thanks

    • You can transfer the credit but it won't give you bonus like a recharge
