A couple of pairs I have from JW which have a bit of stretch in them (skinny) have gone a bit smooth over the years. I recently got an original fit skinny pair which uses "core wall" and they feel a bit closer to the coarser raw denim feel. Obviously still nothing like raw but for under $40, can't complain.
Oh and I've said it before in a JW post, the skinny feels very tight in store but after a wash and a few wears, they loosen up a bit; I lift so don't have chicken legs if that helps.
