Samsung R519 Laptop, 4GB ram, T4300 2.1Ghz, 320GB HDD, 15.6" HD, Wireless N, for $578 @ MLN

140

I logged on to my twitter acccount and just noticed another one of MLN's deals.. Good timing actually because my work friends needed a few lappies just before xmas. I feel like im their all the time now hehehehe.

For all you guys not in Melbourne this one can be ordered online as well as it seems to be available to everyone at this price-not just in store.

Ok let me share this with you guys..I think its great that this one has a Wireless N card, and the Ram is good bonus factor as well,
and it is also preinstalled and ready to go with Windows 7, so you dont need to pay for postage or wait for the disks to be mailed to you.
The previous model that MLN had, you had to apply for the upgrade and the processor was not as fast so I think this offer is probably better and this one is also a bit cheaper.

I have not been able to verify stock quantities.

  • How good is this Samsung?

    • I think Samsung is a really good brand, and "so far" from what I have seen with their laptops it looks all good,
has anyone had any good/bad dealings with Samsung notebooks? please post. I am also curious

  • i have a samsung notebook x420, the build quality is very good. everything is just prefect except the speakers is bit ordinary/thin(but not too bad).

  • Graphics info
Video: Intel GL40 Express (Intel GMA 4500M), Intel DVMT 5.0 (Max 384MB), Shared

    • so is that good or bad?

      • GL40 limits you to 800Mhz FSB CPUs and is not as efficient as PM45/GM45. Inspiron 15 is a better deal imho. Has T6500-2.1/3GB/32GB/X4500 and better GM45 chipset for $596:

Otherwise the NV54 Gateway is a more comparable system to this, but is $429 (2GB):

        • Yeah the guys at work dont like the look of the Dell machine as the Samsung R519 looks much better.
plus they want a Wireless N card so they can download faster as the Samsung lappy has that and Dell machine is a G.
Plus they dont want Vista, the Samsung is ready to go with Win 7 preinstalled so need to pay for postage or stuff around with disks, and it has 4GB ram which is important too.

The grapchics cards are the same, they are both shared, it makes no difference.

it really depends what you are using it for. If you want to use it as a word processor and some video then it will be fine, if you want to play games on it look for something else.

Regarding the Samsung Brand and Samsung Laptops i own one of the earlier Samsung Notebooks the X20 which was bought back in later 2005. That was when Samsung introduced their laptop range into Oz, before they pulled them from Oz and reintroduced them back in again. Anyway my X20 is still going strong and has not had one problem. Build quality is excellent. No flimsy bits and its been pretty solid. I recently had to replaced the keyboard due to the previous one getting water damage but i was able to find a part for it to replace it. So all in all good experience with the Samsung Lappies. Their designs are nice too!

  • thanks for that, its good to know that they have worked out well for you guys, I feel much better telling the guys at work that people have good results with Samsung,
I am going to pick up 3-4 units later this arvo.

  • picked them up, these laptops look hot.
the screen is really pleasant to look at, plus it looks hot
I also really like the keyboard it has a really high quality feel to it when you type.
    I was pretty impressed.
I also found another Samsung laptop in there on sale, it was a high end gaming machine, i will post it seperately I think.

But this machine for $578 is really really good value.

  • I ordered one last night, pretty good price, thanks

just got a reply from mln about ram type, whether it comes with a factory reset cd, and stock availability, here's the reply :

    "It comes with 2 X 2GB DDR2 Ram

It does not come with the factory recovery cd’s as most computers now just come with the software to allow you to back up,

You can easily create your own with the provided software.

    We do have more available."

not bad, considering snaffling one up myself. so it gets a + from me.
