Seems like samsung tv loses its value pretty quickly!

      There I fixed it.

      • Nothing to do with Samsung, everything to do with it being an OLED with an inflated price tag. Mini LED TVs have almost caught up with OLED in terms of picture quality, and in areas like brightness (for daytime viewing in bright, open spaces) Mini LEDs are much better. As a result, people are no longer willing to pay 2~3x more for an OLED. For the original asking price of this TV at $7k, you could buy a fairly good 100" Mini LED TV that can more than make up for any difference in picture quality with its sheer size.

  • +4

    Ridiculous price for the 83inch.

    • +1

Absolutely ridiculous. That too for a 2025 TV.

  • Has anybody tried to request and use a loyalty voucher in the edu portal for a TV purchase?

  • +2

education store prices are only 40% off

anyone had any luck getting support to match?

    EDIT

edu store now showing it :) thanks op

    • Enjoy!

      • will do
got the 55 oled s85f will be perfect for sports / movies /tv shows in bed with casual games for $1,127.68 i was going to get a LG B for dolby vision but this price is too good.

note i messaged the chat and asked for a coupon and got a 5% ontop of the 5% for first order :)

    • Hmm I'm not getting the discount .. mine says 42% off for 83 " and even less for smaller sizes

  • +8

Mini Led putting pressure on OLED prices. Good to see. I am still dreaming of a day when a 100" OLED is $5k hehehehe, the true end game TV for me.

  • Do i have to be a government employee to get this deal?

    • +1

      Yes, you do.

  • +3

Same price via rewards gateway/ corporate portal too

  • How can you sign into different email for Samsung Store, it keep defaulting to main account.

    • Open incognito/private browsing window

    • +1

Is it happening in mobile ? It happened to me, the epp portal link was redirecting to the samsung app. I unistalled the app then it opened the epp samsung link in a browser.

  • OLED or neo qled? Anyone have experience with both?

    • +3

      OLED all the way!!

      • -1

        Any reasons?

        • +1

Contrast and blacks. Better for movie experience.

    • +4

      Bright living room -> QLED
      Dark room -> OLED
      For budget TVs

If you have the money G5/S95F beat everything else

      • -3

OLED….increased opportunity for screen burn in

        • QLED for using as monitor

    • +1

Qled lasts longer. Not sure if it’s bad luck. My s85f 55 inch got the OLED panel replaced on the second week due to flicking issue.

Also not much difference to my eye between oled and normal led tbh…

      • Most likely a Samsung issue. My first Samsung TV also died within three years. I have a nearly 7 year old LG OLED still going strong, no issues.

      • I've course you don't notice a difference, it's 55 inch, I don't even know why people buy OLEDs so small. You probably also sit more than 1.5-2 metres from it lol. Saying there is no difference is like someone watching 4K and not noticing the difference between that and 1080p. It's something you are doing, probably sitting too far away from a small a$$ tv.. OLED & LED is a night and day difference in picture.. Night & Day!

        • I had a 55" and it was massive difference between OLED and LED. But a lot of people just watch FTA and have the basic Netflix subscription which yeah, you won't see a lot of difference between TVs except for the blacks (when you go looking)

          • @serpserpserp: And right there is a point.. Why are people buying an OLED if you are 95% of the time watching FTA or standard Netflix lol.. This is why the country is in debt, consumers are so stupid, it's why companies get away with what they do. People buying things they don't actually need.

            • @Justin9mm: The whole point of marketing.

Very few actually need an iphone but feel like they do.

Expensive cars often with very swift depreciation.

              TVs as discussed.

              The list goes on.

            • @Justin9mm: Yep.. exactly. I have an old 4k led TV for the kids lounge and a 4k OLED c9 in my media room. And that is serving it's purpose quite well. But I benefit from OLED as I game on PC and PS5 pro on it and it's a thing of beauty.
If I was watching F2A I would tell people to just buy cheap LCD TV and call it a day. Maybe something with high motion if they watch sports

      • Samsung moment

  • +3

    Don’t know if I’ve seen a 65” for that price, that’s crazy

    • I got my S90B 65" for 1.3k in the educational store a while back.

      • Nice catch. I got a 55" S90C for $900 last year Dec, directly from Samsung. Amazing TV for movies and gaming. Below average TV for sub 1080P content (poor upscaling). Feed it 1080P and higher content, it is one of the best TV's.

  • +5

I have an S95B, I hate the OS, its awful compared to LG.

At this price, I'd still pick this, that's how insanely cheap that 83" is.

    • Thats weird. I have an LG C8… which had a decent UI. Then i got the newer C4.. amazing picture and gaming TV, but hate the UI. Its just too much.

Recently.picked up a S90D and everyone saying its got the best and brightest picture (it does).. but the UI sucks.. i love it. So much cleaner, simpler and intuitive.

But i agree, for this price id consider an 83inch.

      • +1

Some of the issues to know going in.

It seems changing inputs forces users to the main menu, every time. Every time you activate game mode, without fail, a menu comes up, then another menu comes up telling you how to bring up the first menu, you cannot turn this off without the service menu. When switching between inputs, if the previous input is not perfectly static, you'll be thrown back to your last input.

    • +1

It Tizen very good? (Can't help myself)

Reviews from previous posts aren't glowing (may or may not be word play).

    • Hate the OS on my C5, would hate to see what Samsung is like then. Would be nice if there was a way to jailbreak them to remove all the bloat. Can't believe how slow even the settings can be on a 2025 TV, sometimes takes like 3 seconds just to open bluetooth audio settings and change to my earbuds…

      • I think you'd be surprised how good it is - What are you comparing it to, out of interest, and what about it doesn't work well?

        • Not comparing it to anything else, came from a 10 year old Panasonic which wasn't a 'smart TV'. But surprised how slow it can be in the settings menu, it's never snappy but sometimes it can actually take a few seconds just to open a menu! The OS itself annoys the shit out of me with all the bloat. I've turned off as many ads and AI and bullshit that I can. Even with the ads off I am hating the permanent banner that have across the top as a place holder haha.

Another gripe is there seems to be a bug that's come in only recently where it freezes and you have to restart the app if you scrub forward. May be due to my network issues I'm getting lately, but that shouldn't cause the whole app to freeze and a restart! It's across multiple apps I get this problem (Kayo, UFC app, I think Youtube too). Any time I want to skip forward or back I get issues.

Love everything else about the TV though. It's not like you're actually in the settings or app menu most the time you're using it, you're actually watching things.

          • @bleeder: Buy a second hand Nvidia Shield for it for non-FTA TV uses. Go the extra mile if you want and install the Projectivity launcher.

            • @ferrar1: I don't use FTA at all, I have a Google Chromecast device but I stopped using it since I got this TV since there's probably not much point as the TV does similar. I do prefer the Google interface though.

  • +1

I got the 77” for $2703 from JB using the Samsung govt worker portal as a price beat. Harvey Norman weren’t interested in matching. JB beat it by a $1. Love the tv, big upgrade for me from a 13 year old lcd panel.

    • Nice was that online chat or in store?

      • In store. He didn’t notice the $150 “trade up”included, just matched the total. So I got to keep my old tv 😊.

  • Amazing deal for an AI TV

    • +9

Turning off AI settings is the first thing to do…

  • At this price, this entry oled or the tcl c8k?

I have a budget of around 3k for a 83/85 inch tv. I was considering the tcl c8k at black Friday.

    • At such a cheap price, go for the OLED

    • +1

Check ratings yourself, s85f not bright enough for hdr content, c8k is much much better, plus it's old gen woled, which is bad as well

  • keeps rejecting @…qld.gov.au

    • +1

To be fair, so would I!

    • +1

      have u registered before?
I usually Google Samsung Government store and then log in. It often wants me to revalidate the login details by sending an email to .gov.au address.

      • Had to call them to sort out. Great service and they gave us an additional 5% off for our troubles. Won't deliver to our region so it's going to a mates place in Brisbane. Any recommendations on couriers?

  • +3

Confirming these are WOLED right? So the US reviews/comparisons aren’t accurate for the aus version of the screen, as the US version is QD-OLED, is that right?

    • +3

      All WOLED in Aus

      • I can't find any reviews of the WOLED versions either which is annoying.

  • Any idea what’s considered government? I work in public sector in Victoria and my email doesn’t seem to be accepted.

    • +1

      emails with .gov.au are accepted.

    • Anything with a @dept.state.gov.au I suppose.

    • Our condolences

    • It used to be accepted fine when I worked in VPS. I think it just looks at the gov.au domain name. Same with the edu store.

  • I have the LG 65" C9 from pre Covid, 2019 or 2020 methinks.
I have no reason to upgrade, the tv is simply beautiful.

    But the 83" @$3,500 is a bargain.

Is it a big jump up in tech, or should I wait for something better?
    I'm in no rush.
    Your advice much appreciated. Tia.

    • No reason to upgrade= Dont upgrade.
      Still an OLED.

Having said that, I havent seen many 83" OLEDs at this price point..

    • +2

Tech from your C9 OLED to now isn't that much of a leap. Going from 65" to 83" is a big jump though, I would only consider that aspect.

      • Then I'll HODL for something new and keep that in my offset, thank you!

    • I'm on a c9 as well but my upgrade would push my old 3d curved TV out , put the c9 in kids lounge and take the new 83 inch for my media room.
But unfortunately my edu account is only 42%. Also they won't let me sign up using my gov account as I already have an edu account… Not sure how they determined this.

      • +1

Try incognito mode or a VPN when signing up with gov account

      • Disconnect your edu account and then add the govt account?
OR, create a NEW samsung account and link THAT to your govt account. So then you'll have two samsung accounts, one for edu one for govt.

    • +2

Not worth it for this model. You would be going from LG's mid-range OLED to Samsung's entry-level OLED.

      • +1

Roger that, thanks mate, will continue to HODL @ronburgundy11
I had no idea that OLED had low, mid and high range. I thought they were all the same! Shows my ignorance. At least I have good people like you to guide me!

        • No worries! Samsung has the S85F, S90F and S95F in the low, mid and high range respectively. LG has the B5, C5 and G5.

          • @ronburgundy11: Today I learnt.
            Thanks!
Will aim for the G Series for my next purchase in 2027!

  • +1

Amazing find, thank you for posting. I've been waiting for a good deal on an upper-mid range 65" TV and picked up the S90F for $2042.02. Bargain!

  • +1

Note these are fairly lackluster for a bright room and have pretty shitty hdr, but for this price it might make sense

  • +4

If anyone in Perth wants a TV to recycle for extra discount let me know - I have a 42" Sony to get rid of that is broken (the power supply, not the glass) and uneconomical to repair. I was going to use for Samsung trade in but went with TCL C8K instead (and very happy!)

"Broken Appliances Accepted. We accept appliances from most brands, even if it’s old or damaged."

When I click through it seems to fetch $175 against a 83" OLED.

  • +2

$1,099.50 for the 42" OLED S90F 4K Samsung Vision AI Smart TV, not bad:
    https://www.samsung.com/au/multistore/government_au/pd.QA42S…

    • Can these be used in the same way lg 42s can for desktop monitor? Ie the lg companion , burn in protection etc

      • +1

I'm not aware of any similar app like LGCompanion for Samsung TVs. I'm sure you can enable all the usual burn in protection features.

BTW, for anyone not aware, it seems that all of the S90F range is using the LG WOLED panels in Australia, with the exception of the 55" model:
        https://www.samsung.com/au/multistore/government_au/pd.QA55S…

(look at the end of the model number, "EXXY" usually indicates WOLED)

      • Would be curious to know too, the price is right just not sure if there's any quirks etc.

        • +1

I've been using the LG C2 for the last few years as a gaming monitor but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have something like the LGCompanion app, as not being able to automatically sleep the TV is a pain. So unless someone can do the same for Samsung TVs, I don't think it's a good experience for using the TV as a monitor.

If you're happy to turn the TV on and off with the remote whenever you need to step away, then by all means go for it.

  • +1

Bought a S85F model QA65S85FAEXXY for $1567 including the 5% off for first time purchasers

S90F model QA65S90FAEXXY is available for $2149 (-5% if you have it) which also seems good value but I decided the extra $500 wasn't worth it

    • At what point did they include the extra 5%? I get to the payment part and it still doesn’t show the extra 5%. Is it applied after you put the card details?

      • Extra 5% off appears on the checkout page. There’s also a large banner on the home page advertising it. Looks like you probably weren’t eligible.

  • My samsung education store price is $2,037.13 for the 65 without any additional discounts? If I could get it for the $1649.50 price i would…

  • This is a decent price for an entry-level OLED.
