  • Does this work with cash reward?

  • Any way to get this price for a top up? Or do you need to just order a new sim with slightly different name?

Any way to get this price for a top up?

I don't know of any way.

Or do you need to just order a new sim with slightly different name?

You should be able to order a new SIM using this code while logged in to your existing account. The terms and conditions don't exclude existing customers nor have they in the past for similar deals. Amaysim seems to be aiming for new SIM/service sales rather than new customers specifically.

      • excellent thanks for the tip!

  • Can this data be added to a phone sim or do you need a phone with 2 sims slots ?

    • Can this data be added to a phone sim

This deal is only for a new Data Pack SIM. You could add PAYG credit or a phone plan to it for outbound talk and text, otherwise it comes with its own mobile number which I suspect will already receive inbound talk and text (can anyone confirm?).

or do you need a phone with 2 sims slots ?

That would be handy if you'd like to use it in a device while maintaining an existing service/SIM.

Can confirm that. All the SIM's have full call and text functionality - inbound and outbound - from point of activation with the given or ported number.

Somebody in a previous thread mentioned $5 AYG credit already attached to the SIM they purchased. That may even have a 365 day expiry once 10GB pack is active. One way or t'other, that will display on the account page.
Any further AYG credit added after that should only have a 3 months expiry, though.

I just activated a 10GB pack on my AYG SIM and my $10 AYG credit is appearing as 365 day expiry.

Had a quick look at Whirlpool to see if this is a mistake/display error and others suggest that having the 10GB 365 day expiry data pack also extends the expiry date of AYG credit: http://whrl.pl/RegyGk

All in all it's looking like a very nice setup for mainly data usage with low SMS/calls. :)

@goosmurf: I have an old SIM with a 10GB pack active (bought from account credit), from just before these recent 10GB deals began…

The smidge of remainder-credit on my account also, now, has an expiry that matches the pack.
As I indicated above, that AYG credit - if added to - should revert to the regular 90 day expiry period, even with the data pack still on the 365 rundown.

        • @Tas:

Wow that is weird but thanks for letting us know!

So basically AYG credit has expiry as long as the last credit type added with a minimum of 90 days?

        • @goosmurf: AYG credit, generally, has a 90 day expiry (amount rolled over if added to before expiry). Going back a couple of years, the 90 day expiry used to also apply for remaining credit after activating the 365 day 10GB pack. Good that they've changed that, at least.

  • Has anyone got this to work?

I am signing up for a brand new SIM, AS YOU GO + 10GB data pack, porting in an existing number.

Registration form tells me 30DATA is invalid: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8110989/2015/20150803-am…

Currently on Live Chat and the agent is not helpful.

    • I just tested it and it works when you order directly from the Data Plans page, but not when you order from the Mobile Plans page and add the Data Pack.

You obviously want to port your existing number to this SIM so the former wouldn't work for you. The only option I could think of would be to ask a CSR, how did that go?

      • +1

Hey what a coincidence I just tested the exact same thing!

Live Chat did not go well: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8110989/2015/20150803-wh…

Surprise surprise I didn't get any call back.

I'll try again tomorrow now that I know what the problem is.

Edit: posted to their FB page to see if someone might fix this up (if it is indeed a bug). https://www.facebook.com/amaysim/posts/1226728254020671

The two signups should be equivalent because a "data only" SIM signs you up for AS YOU GO anyway, it just doesn't give you the option of porting in a number.

Unfortunately, as with most businesses, some staff are just incompetent. I'd try giving the live chat another go until you get a competent staff member.

Remember to spoon feed them all the information you have. :)

          @Scrooge McDuck:

          Yeah :)

I ended up calling them and got a helpful woman who confirmed the behaviour we're seeing and acknowledged it's a bug that she'll escalate.

In the meantime she signed me up over the phone and said she can't apply any discounts until after the service is active. So I'm to activate my new SIM and port in my number, after which she'll apply the discounted data pack.

          Hopefully everything goes to plan…

          Well, thumbs up for Amaysim.

          After the initial crap experience:
          1. Spoke to woman on the phone as above
          2. Bought a SIM from 7-11 as advised
          3. Called to activate SIM around 4pm, number was ported in around 7:30pm
          4. Live chatted Amaysim just now and had the 10GB data pack added. Apparently I scored $10 credit with 365 day expiry as well. The agent applied the discount by granting me $29.97 credit (30% of $99.90), then applying the 10GB data pack so I'd only be charged the remaining 70%.

Will need to check the credit card once it updates. :)

        • Ah I didn't get free $10 credit, the system auto-recharged me to $10.

So all up I paid $79.93 for 10GB data pack ($99.90) + $10 credit which is the promised 30% discount on the 10GB data pack.

Amusingly a bunch of my usage is showing up as "free data". Don't know what that is but I'm not complaining. :)

i think its amazing that u get a real # for inbound calls with this dataonly plan.

many ppl will use things like VIBER over their data connection for most of their calls anyway, so its a good deal.

  • My current Optus Prepaid data plan expires in a few months.
If I sign up to this Amaysim 30% off data plan now, does the activation happen right after signup? Or can I manually activate the account after my Optus plan has expired.

    • Nah when you get the SIM you activate online.

Though I think they expect you to activate it within a certain time so a few months might be pushing it. I'd check that before you buy.
