  • Seems to only come in black :(

      I wanted pink also.

seems good value. Personally not a fan of the psuedo-analog display though, plus I don't need another of these

  • Its a good charger for both li ion and nimh. Dont use USB on PC/Laptop or phone though, it really needs a tablet power puck, 2.1a. The power cord is a usb at one end, and a barrel connector at the charger.

  • Can someone please direct me to a good source of information on the current state-of-the-art of rechargable L-ion batteries? I'm not trying to be funny by using the word 'current'; it's legitimately a bit tricky to research lately, because the tech is rapidly evolving. There appears to have been some sort of recent advance in the technology that I have missed, so now rechargable L-ions are freely available (of course I'm referring to 'stand-alone' rechargable L-ions, not the dedicated ones that come with specific devices like phones etc.). Are rechargable L-ions in the form of "AAs" still non-existent in Australia (hence for this 'size' of battery, the charger that is the subject of this deal only charges NiCads)?

TLDR: Is there such a thing as rechargable AA L-ion batteries, and if so where can they (and a charger to juice them up) be bought from?

As I've recently demonstrated on this site, electricity/batteries are something I know almost nothing about… any advice would be humbly appreciated, but please phrase it in the absolute simplest of terms!

      According to this, it's available.

Appears got 2800mah like Enelope Pro.

      • Whoa they finally made rechargable lithium aa 1.5v batteries. Been waiting for this for a while now. Prices still expensive prob wait till the price drops abit b4 i buy

      • I'd love to hear about anyone's experiences with these re actual duration of battery charge/performance (under constant/active drain), their slow 'off the shelf' drain (soz cannae remember the correct term, I mean losing charge while they're in a drawer doing nout), and how many times they can be recharged before their efficiency is compromised. I guess that last parameter will take a while to determine accurately, because they're pretty new. I have little faith in 'accelerated testing conditions designed to simulate repeated charging/drainage'.

      • Here is a review of that battery.
        https://ripitapart.wordpress.com/2015/06/17/performance-anal…

..looks like wally beat me to it

      • It would appear that they actually only have a maximum capacity of 1700mah. These would be great at high drain applications that demand a constant 1.5v, but for the price you would be better off with Eneloop Pro's. They are just a Lithium Polymer cell wrapped up in a housing that is the same size as a AA, with some sort of flux-capacitor to lower the voltage from 3.7v/4.2v.

Bugger, just bought it a few days ago for $5 more. Oh well, I usually have far more wins on OzB so the occasional oops is okay.

  • Is this a good enough travel charger for Eneloops?
I am taking 2A USB wall charger with me anyway…

  • On the gearbest website, the "VC4 Charging Curve of Ni-MH Battery" chart shows the battery reaching peak voltage, but the charger doesn't stop charging there, it continues to charge. Is that the correct way to charge a Ni-MH battery?

    • +1

The actual curves in the review that the OP posted shows that it does stop charging at the right point.

Maybe the resolution of Gearbest's graph is too low. It's probably showing the top-off charge.

  • Can it charge 4x18650 at the same time or only 2?

  • "Max 0.5A (4 channels) and 1.0A (2 channels) charging current make sure your batteries can be fully and quickly charged"

In other words not a fast charge if you charge a pack of 4 at the same time.

    • +1

You mean the USB lead wasnt a give away. It would need at least 4 amps to do 1 amp per slot. This is no different to many chargers. My Eneloop smart charger is the same, 2 outside slots and its quick charge, use the inner two at all and its slow charge.

      • -1

I have bought plenty of 1 and 2 hour chargers that do all four slots in that time for under $50 each.

        • Cool, this one is under $30. And even so, what are the specs on the $50 chargers? Charge both nimh and li ion chemistries? DV/DT? CC/CV? And do they run off a USB, for universality?

        • @Tuba:

The older ones I'm using were around $30-$40 but I got a few from DSE when they were being cleared out for $20. No they don't do Lion or USB, but do NiCd. The newer ones I have are from Jaycar for $40 and $50 and do USB but no Lion or NiCd.

All charge Eneloops in 1-2 hrs

  • What does a "humanized" charger do that an "animal"(?) charger can't?

  • I wonder how Xtar VC4 stack up with VP4 model?
$10 more expensive, but it displays charging progress.

    http://www.gearbest.com/chargers-batteries/pp_94493.html

Looking at the description of both products, it's all looks cryptic to me.
It's also mention about US adapter, not quite sure if that matters if the input is 12v USB anyway?

    • Don't worry about this.
After further reading, looks like VP4 model only able to charge Lithium battery, which is not suitable for my purpose

  • My order is still processing! Anyone else?

    • anything that ships from HK/China takes approx 1 month

    • Appears same for mine, it was ok speed for my previous orders…
I will try their online support/open a ticket.

      • They just responded my ticket and it's showing shipped with Singapore Post now.

        • Mine was shipped on yesterday.

  • For anyone who missed the deal, Banggood sell this for US$24.99 (AU$34.47) delivered.
