40% off Shell & Valvoline Oils, 25% off Spare Parts, 1350KG Jack for $10 with $100 Spend - This Weekend @ Repco

100

You can also get a 1350KG jack for $10 when you spend over $100.

Can't really give an examples of deals as Repco don't publish prices on their site. However should be a good chance to pick up synthetic oils without paying the obscene price they normally want for them. Excludes already reduced (i.e. catalogue) oils.

  • Would spark plugs and leads be classified as spare parts?

    • Should be, yes. However it states it's for store stock only so if the leads aren't for a popular model they may not have them. Best to call ahead to confirm.

  • So is there much advantage of a full synthetic over a semi?

I have a V6 3.0 L Camry and have read that oil sludge from cheap oil is a major contributor to engine sieze so I am sure I always use good oils not cheap stuff out of a drum that so many 'cheap' oil change places use.

    • What are you currently using, how often are your changes & how far do you travel between them, what do you use the car for, how long is the average trip?

So long as you actually change the oil every now and again and there isn't an underlying issue with the car sludge shouldn't be a problem. Even on mum's neglected 121 which had very sporadic servicing over its life there wasn't even a hint of sludge when I busted off the valve cover.

      • Ah it is a known weakness in the 3.0 Litre Toyota Engine . This is why it was re-designed and made a 3.5 L in more recent times. I use Valvoline in a black container semi-synthetic. CHange it once a year. Travel about 8K KMs. Just commuting. No long distance or high speed driving. Average trip about 6 Km.

        • In that case I'd be leaning more towards a synthetic, however if your current oil isn't sludging up then no point really. Get a good torch and have a look under the oil fill cap to see if there's any evidence of sludge is probably the simplest way of doing it.

  • great deal. Give SCA a miss and head over to repco

  • which grade oil needed for ford fairmount Au III - 2001 Duel Fuel

    • Shell HX5-Gas according to fordformus.com.au.
I have a '98 AU1 running the Tickford Dual Fuel; due to it's age I'm running 10w-40 Castrol Magnatec consistently (because it's cheaper than Shell HX5-GAS).

Edit: To answer you actual question you should be using 10w-40 now over the 5w-30 specified by Ford… the extra viscosity will protect your engine a bit better under the assumption that you car's engine is a bit worn and the tolerances of the internals are a bit higher now than they were when the car was first produced in 200X.

    • Go here to check what oil you need.

  • Thanks your link, how much is 10w-40 Castrol Magnatec? and how much is Helix HX7 10W-40 ?after 40% discount ?

  • +1

to be honest. repco is not always the cheapest even with discount. for example z386 ryco oil filter for many Toyotas was 14.99 after 25percent discount at repco. normal price was 20bucks ish.
same filter at autobarn is 12 bucks and after the 25 percent off spares discount last week, came to below 10bucks.

just stating an example, not bashing repco or anything.. i still buy stuff at repco! (:

Wonder how much cheaper is the oil though. did not scout the oil prices that time..

    • Yeah +1 to your statement, the same ryco z781 oil filter at repco is normally selling around 30 bucks but sca selling 15 bucks without any discount…

    • REPCO - Rip Every Poor C**t Off

Some of their prices are a bit silly, which is why I rarely ever go there unless it's a good catalogue special.

If I didn't have to work all weekend I'd wander down and see what the discounts are like, perhaps someone can report their findings instead.

  • if anyone could help me check out the prices for the oils, that would be fantastic! (:
semi/full synthetic 5w40, 10w40, 10w30 are all ok with me!
i am working on both days, but i can duck out for lunch to get some.

    • Just got the 5w30 shell hx8 synthetic for $30.59 after discount.

Most of the shell oils are $80 before discount. Valvolines 5w40 synthetic $67 before discount.

Can't remember the prices for 10w30 but I would think it should be cheaper than 5w30

      • yeah, the Hx8 is a great deal for a fully synthetic oil.
SCA has them (full price) for $48ish
this works, and is recommended for the hyundai i30 diesel (and I believe petrol too)
