Flights SYD - BKK $310 Connector Bangkok to Norway ~~~ $214

580

Hi lads, long time reader, first time poster.
:)
FLIGHTS start early October out of BKK. This to me adds value to a trip, and not to mention unlimited flexibility for someone like myself who needs to chase the sun. This would have to be one of the best value Aussie to Europe prices. MOSCOW is close to $190

I calculate its close to $25 dollars an hour. Sounds better value then a Peruvian bus i once took for $12 an hour.

Gotta love Denmark. First in best dressed

Care to add specific dates? Tried to use the link and ended at skyscanner, tried syd to bkk return 7 to 14 of oct, got air asia 570aud flight. Checked bkk to oslo 8 to 13 of oct, got 700aud flight. Checked flights to moscow from oslo - another 230aud. So total is 1500 aud with terrible itinerary. Direct search gets u 1350 flights with ethihad. Where is the deal?

    • The fares are one way.
Use Norwegians monthly fare finder function to seek out best fares.
And yes…you often need to have some time on your hands to use these sort of fares.

    Bkk…Oslo….$211 8/10/15 Norwegian

      That's a 22.5 hours layover in Singapore!

Which is actually a good amount of time to see Singapore - jump on the MRT, head for somewhere central like Clarke Quay, dump your bags then head for Sentosa Island, do the touristy stuff, then back to Marina Bay Sands / Gardens by the Bay, on to Little India, have something to eat at the Hawker Markets and then head for Orchard Rd for some shopping (or window shopping in stores with luxury brands you've never heard of because we're too poor).
Crash for a few hours at your hotel to catch some Z's then on your way again.

  • Good if you have eurorail pass norway is included

This deal is pretty cool knowing that once you get to Norway, you can use it as a base and travel one way to places such as:
    Poland ~$30
    Italy ~$100
    Germany ~$100
    France ~$150
    New York ~$250

    Thanks OP for this :)

  • Anyone know the cheapest way to get to Greece? (starting from KL or somewhere else in Asia)

  • Great find. Thanks man

Norwegian can be a bargain, but can you imagine sitting squeezed into the equivalent of Tiger/Jetstar for 11-13 hours??

Unless you are very lucky with connections and dates, you'll easily end up paying at least EUR500 just for BKK-Stockholm-BKK, plus extras and possible hotel accom at your transit point in Asia (and you'd need to allow a very long transit time for safe connection) … so that's well over AUD700 for flights before adding on extras and Australia-Asia-Australia. So while this is still a "good price", the trade-off in inconvenience/unreliability/lack of comfort is significant. For just over $1500 there are still good flights to be had on much better carriers in Nov, for example. And there could still be occasional bargain fares on them too.

    • Norwegian doesn't seem as cramped as Tiger, it's actually pretty decent service for the price really. I've done it a few times as I like a few days/weeks in Asia on my way back from Europe to split the trip up. One thing to note is most intra-Asia flights will be to DMK and Norwegian will flies from BKK so if you're wanting to connect the same day keep this in mind!

      • Is it as cramped as Airasia long haul seating. I'm not a big guy, but those seats are awkwardly slim.

        • Slightly bigger, I was next to a biggish guy and wasn't an issue.

        • @zappy32: That's a relief. Airasia has cheap flights, but long haul its so squashy. I like their 'quiet zone' idea though.

        • @lifethroughthelens: It's still not exactly spacious, just checked on seat guru and the seat width is 17.2", AirAsiaX is 16.5" and as comparison Qantas A380 is 17.5". The quiet zone is a great idea, especially as it was nearly empty the one time I flew in it.

  • does anyone have any dates for this??

  • Note: I think the Bangkok to Europe flight goes direct to Copenhagen, whereas the Europe to Bangkok flight is direct from Stockholm.

So, unless you're actually staying in Denmark, look for connections from Copenhagen on your arrival, and get your own way back to Stockholm for the return. Would save a connection, maybe some money.

    • They fly from Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm direct but not every day. On the low fare calendar the lighter blocks are the direct flights and darker ones are connecting.

Only for short haul European flights in my experience. Maybe they've added it to long haul in the last year but I wouldn't bet on it.
