I am surprised they would still go ahead with this after the incident over the weekend.

    • what incident?

          Wow, that's bad…

Hope it wasn't causes by some practical joke…

          @jv:

I used to work at a fast food establishment and they nearly had an incident like that. The fortunate thing was the guy was wearing the proper PPE (face shield, protection apron, gloves etc)

There's a machine that is used to filter the oil and the hose had become blocked and when the pressure built up the hose burst and hot oil sprayed across the kitchen. Because the guy was directly in front of the machine he coped most of it, but was fine due to the PPE.

Most of the teenagers wouldn't wear the the PPE as it was "uncool". I wonder if something similar happened here.

        • @dbun1: I have never been worried about "uncool", but I do admit to laziness and stupidity at times. My motto now is "When in doubt always kit up". I hope the long term effect on this kid is relatively minor.

        • heart-breaking

          What an awful incident.

@bargdebarg: I don't know whether it is relevant. KFC kitchen floors seemed slippery to me. I wasn't wearing sandals when I visited there :-)

    • Airplanes crash… but Life (& airlines) continue on into the Future…

PS My Best Wishes for a complete recovery to the burn victim.

  • Tour around the kitchen is boring. I prefer if they have a tour in their factory.

      • KFC doesn't have farms. Although with their turnover, and dependency on the product (chicken), it is a business amazement they don't.

        lol jv.

What a beautiful, pristine environment. Those chooks are positively bursting with vitality and good health; so happy, so relaxed, so enthusiastic about becoming part of my dinner. That is exactly how I like to imagine where my KFC comes from. Thankyou for this image. I will keep it in mind whenever I have KFC.

    • You need to go on the special employee tour! (Semi NSFW. Bikinis/underwear)

Reminds me of the remark made by Otto von Bismarck

Laws, like sausages, cease to inspire respect in proportion as we know how they are made.

I took up this offer at my local store when they did this a year ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/154431 and found it pretty good.

Why am I on NT News…

  • "dedicated KFC cooks" made me laugh

I think this tour is good as we found out more about how they work.
    - 9 pieces make up a whole chicken
    - how they pack a bucket of chicken pieces (fill up 9 pieces first then the rest pieces)

I did not ask last time as there were many occasions that there were shorts of pieces in my bucket.
eg. bought 16 pieces but only 15 in my bucket

    It happened nearly everytime.

    • how long does it take?

…don't really want to sacrifice more than 90 seconds of my life for 2 pieces of KFC

  • You get a regular chips and drink with the tour as well as the chicken.

    • Depending on the store and the manager, he may change this for you. ;-)

  • +4

Here's the cash registers, here's the frozen chips, here's the bins lol bye

  • I can't get the page to load! tried firefox, IE and on iphone (safari)

  • I really want to go on this but the two restaurants in metro Sydney close to my area aren't doing it :(

    • Unfortunately some stores are too busy, or don't have enough room to cater for tours (as is my nearest store).

  • Dammit, times no good for me.

  • YAY I actually got in. Free chicken WOO :D

  • +1

our restaurant managers will guide you through the kitchen, answering any questions you may have

So I can ask them what the secret recipe is?

  • Anyone?

Thank you for taking the time to enrol in the KFC Open Kitchen.

Unfortunately the St Peters KFC is no longer available to host the open kitchen.

I will be sending a voucher to your postal address for the inconvenience this matter has caused and sincerely apologise.

    Kind regards,

    Diane
