All those diseases are preventable or the risk of contraction can be minimised
Dengue: Don't go out at dusk and wear long sleeve clothing with insect repellant
          Hep A: Vaccine
Hep B: Vaccine or don't screw locals without a condom or use intravenous drugs
Hep C: Same as Hep B except no vaccine, but apparently there is a cure now
          TB: Vaccine
          Typhoid: Vaccine
          Rabies: Vaccine or avoid animals

In other words, just go see the dr and be sensible while you're there

You seem to be easily amused. In addition to being geographically challenged.

          Thanks for kind words.

    • You have a good sense of humor. It is a family package. Sorry if it is not clear.

  • No. It does not include air fairs. With Air Asia you can travel from $370 and with full service flights you can fly from $700.

Nothing says family vacation like touring the killing fields or shooting a mortor at a cow.

    • It's a rocked-propelled grenade and not a mortar?

    • They'll end-up with a wider appreciation & understanding of the world around us… and the beautiful country we live in.

      Oh no!

Having eaten at numerous street stalls during 3 visits over 6 years to Seam Reap.
I have never had an upset tummy. May be good luck or good judgement or a cast iron constitution.
Helpful hint.Always eat at cafes that have lots of locals eating there.
This town, long gone, was three times size of London at the same time period.
Amazingly decorated temples, vast irrigation system and reservoir attest to talents and hard work of many hard working volunteers.
Must see as was once Centre of very extensive and powerful kingdom.

Scanning online it seems that deluxe rooms are going for $72 a night. Add $15 for breakfast per day for the kids that's $437.
Add in transfers, set dinner, set afternoon tea, Angkor wat tour and massages. Pretty decent price.
But I think I'd be able to do the same thing cheaper if I were there.

  • nvm

  • Does this include the pass to Ankor Wat itself or is that separate?

@JV maybe if your so afraid of diseases you should stick to safe places to travel. Cambo's not for the faint hearted.

@Utopian: yeah or people who paid $50 for a meal and see they got ripped. Or maybe they just don't like Indian food. I pity thee.

$15 per kid per day for breakfast… ages 5-11. that's a ridiculous amount of coin in Cambodia.
Given that 'kids share existing bedding' as well, this is not an ideal scenario.

  • +2

I can buy main meals for $5 there, hire a tuk tuk driver for $12 for the day, so $15 for breakfast is not cheap, must be gold leaf cornflakes.

    • +2

Breakfast at any 5 star hotel is around that price. Its like most things, more expensive the hotel and basics are more expensive. Prob charge $15 a day for wifi too.

Ive been to Cambodia many times, you can get nice hotels for $20 a night (i stay in one for $9) and eat on the street or in cafes for about $5 each.

    • +2

I stayed at a nice hostel with a pool. $10 per night and it included free breakfast that you pick out from a menu.

Cambodia - yet another country that wants the tourist dollar but 'short-sightedly' charges for visas. I would have no objection if it was about 'Immigration Controls', but it is very unlikely that, for example, people from Australia or the UK would want to overstay/work in Cambodia. I won't be going there until they get their act together.

    • +1

I think you'll find that a lot of countries charge Australians visa fees out of spite because we charge them visa fees. I've heard of countries in South America that check your passport and only charge you because your an Australian (or from other western countries) while other citizens pay nothing.

    • +1

      Its a tit-4-tat charge (i love a good tat)

Australia charge it too, they just make airlines collect it & add it to their ticket price.

But their visa online scheme is easy…just remember not to include your dog in the picture.
