The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus have just been announced.
They're being released on the 21st August in the USA.

It's a monster of a phone. The Note 5 is the best phone on the market hands down.

According to the them, Samsung Pay can be used "virtually everywhere". It can also be used with your retail credit cards and can store your rewards cards.

Anyone looking to spend $1000 should consider the Note 5.

    • "Samsung Pay can be used "virtually everywhere". It can also be used with your retail credit cards and can store your rewards cards"
      - Not likely to be uptaken by Australian retailers and banks anytime soon.

      Flagships these days are overrated.

Unless you're desperately dying for a stylus, the Moto X Style coming in the next couple of months for circa AU$600 is probably the better deal.

In fact the Note 4 at $650ish is probably the better deal…

Don't get sucked in by the hype…

      • I don't plan on buying another flagship unless I get a job that pays well. The only reason I mentioned it is because I watched the Samsung GLobal Unpacked event which finished 30 minutes ago.

The Note 5 is a big step backwards to what made people like samsung yes im talking about removable battery and sd card slot.

Id get a note 4 to replace my perfectly fine Note 3 if i had the choice and a spare 1k disposable cash right now.

Note 5 is a monstrosity as a huge backwards step from the Note 4. I understand if you were to take out the SD Card.. but to then also pull out the 128GB is just marketing suicide. Who makes these idiotic decisions?

    • I had an 'old' 64gb micro sd card slotted in the Note 3, with the 32gb internal memory the combined storage is 96gb. Now with the Note 5, the maximum storage 64gb, a huge step backward indeed and is something Samsung will regret making

  • Samsung probably isn't planning on selling a lot of note 5's. Seeing as the profit is so low (~$3 per phone) nowadays. The business of Android phone manufacturing is dying due to competition, it's time for them to seek something else to make. (HTC is going belly up now because they only make phones)

$3 per phone profit? Yeah right

      • Yeah right, sorry I was wrong, it's actually 1.2c per phone, not $3, at least for LG. (Remember I'm talking about Android phones here)

        • You do realize that all the android manufacturers don't pool all the profits together then divide itequally?

        • @ozhunter: Sure, LG sales are pretty good but still only profiting 1.2c/phone. HTC is essentially making a loss, same as Sony, so even worse than LG there. Samsung is probably the only one I can think of out of the traditional big names that is making more money (though declining), which is 15% of the profit, compared to Apple's 92% profit. (Total is over 100% because other smartphone makers either broke even or lost money)

    • stop talking nonsense.

      • You should stop talking nonsense. Note 5 is going to be a flop. (Actually, it won't even matter, because even if it doesn't flop, they still won't make much money out of it… their income is still declining due to competition)
