    It was S$40.Now S$20 only? :(

    • The deal is the inclusion of other airlines.

Apparently you can qualify for 2 X $20 vouchers. Read more deets in the link

If you're on SQ, it's still S$40. this has been around for the past 3 years…they keep extending when it nears the expiry date, which is a great thing.

  • This gets posted periodically. It's not really a new deal…

    • +1

Although it never included NZ airlines iirc

Air New Zealand. Good deal though.

Sorry, pet peeve having gone to the University of Queensland where people were always calling it Queensland University.

They would need to give you money to spend at the airport when going into town for food is so quick and cheap.

    • Used it to buy great Islay malts in the past . found a quarter cask Laphroaig 1 litre for $32 Aussie equivalent, used $40 tobget it for when a 750 ml was around $110 locally

      That's 2 years ago though

Just availed this a couple of weeks ago.. What an airport to have an overnight layover at! Went to the pub to use the vouchers only to be told we had to print the vouchers so headed upstairs to one of the lounges to get them printed out, only for them to offer a reduced time limit of 1.5hrs in exchange for 1 x 20sgd coupon. Great deal..albeit no booze…food was ok and showers awesome.

    • So 1.5 hours internet cafe time cost about $20? What a sick joke to grab your entire voucher

      • Not sure where you got internet cafĂ© from?

        • Sorry I'm confused about what you are trying to say. So 1.5 hours of internet time at the lounge or what?

  • The lines are going to be massive at the redemption counters now with the extra eligibility. 35 min wait the last time I got mine, would consider forgoing them in future rather than line up.

    • That is not my experience.

I suspect waiting times may be the same as at immigration desks around the world i.e. YMMV.

Changi Airport is one of the most expensive airports in the world for most things. For instance, Aussie wines are THREE times as expensive in "Duty Free" at Changi, as they are here at Dan Murphy's in Sydney, for instance.

Even Chocolates, are ridiculously expensive. Albeit you get some great brands like Valhrhona etc.

Incidentally, on the $ S 40 promotion (for SQ), you must spend $ 20 on ciggies, booze, or perfumes & the other $ 20 elsewhere (in other shops, if you wish). You can spend $ 40 on the ciggies/booze/perfumes if you wish,

Beats a poke in the eye, such promotions but: Buy with care, as generally Changi airport is extremely expensive!

Funny… are you expecting Aussie wines to fly over in a cargo plane across the sea and still sell cheaper than buying from an Australian retail store? Logistics ain't free, and you still have to pay the distributors. Dan Murphy probably gets them direct.

And the last time I had a look, ciggies is one area which is much cheaper at Changi. One carton of Marlboro whatever cost about $35 SGD vs $80 AUD at the Melb Airport (smokers feel free to correct me as I dont smoke). Im not saying Changi is cheap, but Im sure most of you out there who have done some form of travelling will agree that it is almost never cheap to buy anything at airports (with the exception of tobacco and alcohol)…even in emerging market countries.

By the way, it wasnt me who downvoted you.

A lot of aussie wines are cheaper on shelf in the UK.

        • Are you sure you are comparing a bottle of same exact maker and the same exact vintage of wine? It often easy to pass off general comments in a retail store like "oh Jacobs Creek seems cheap here compared to back at home" when often you might be looking at a different variety and maturity.

        • @KaTst3R: Yes, like for like vintage and wine.

          @dhmadm:

Im not asking you. Im asking dasher86.

        • @KaTst3R:
As far as I remember when I was there, yes. At least the stuff they sold at tesco.

      • Aussie wines are cheaper in Bombay,Bangkok, KL, Dubai and Heathrow airports than in Singapore.

So what happens to the logistics argument then? In fact forget Duty Free, even retail shops in London offer Aussie wines much cheaper than at Singapore Airport.

Secondly, we cannot import more than 50 cigarettes into Australia. Are you saying that 50 in Oz cost $ 80?
        Not a smoker, so unaware.

        • More than happy for you to show some price comparison examples between the above airports.

By the way, you were comparing between Changi and Dan Murphy. So unless there is a bottle of wine that is being sold cheaper at the airport in Bangkok, Dubai or KL than within Australia, the argument that logistics adds to the retail price still stands. Irregardless which ever airport sells it cheaper or more expensive. It is an overseas vs local pricing question as per your opening statement.

For cigarettes, Im referring to the duty free shop when leaving the country. One carton contains 200 ciggies.

Keep it under $40 and it doesn't even matter. You havent spent a cent that's yours.

  • Im going on Singapore airline plane however it was through Virgin Australia, is this still eligible?
And where do you actually collect it? From the iShopChangi Collection Centres?

    • Pretty sure that's fine because your boarding pass is gonna be a SQ one.

      • "Passengers' e-ticket numbers must begin with 618 or 629 or 086"

I don't think codeshare customers are eligible. That said, still worth a try.

  • Thanks. Flying today

About 15 people lining and 2 staffs serving. Gave up because it would take at least 20 mins. I think I read expiring end of October and you can use multiple vouchers in single transaction.

  • Anyone know when the voucher expires? I can get a voucher as I'm transiting on my way up to India but I want to use it on my way down to Australia after 1.5 months

    • The t&cs state that you can only claim on one leg of a ticket, so you may as well just wait and redeem on the way back.

    • They have a 6 month expiry (based on month of issue, not exact date.)

Does anyone know what their definition of 'transiting' is? We're stopping off in SG for eight nights on the way to Thailand, so Thailand is our end point destination. I'm hoping I can grab and use the vouchers on the way through as we'll have plenty of time. On the way back we are only in Changi for a few hours.

    • I came to Sydney in 2007, i am still in transit after 8 years. :-)

  • 8 nights is not considered transiting. That's a destination.

    • You're right. I found the part where it says arrival and departure must be within 24 hours of each other. I'll claim on the way back.

this deal has been happening for a long time already. and its 40 bucks

    • It has been expanded slightly; Australian flights and other countries which previously qualified still get 40SGD, but now flights from some additional countries such as Hong Kong and Malaysia count for 20SGD.
