Can you give me a quick explanation as to how I take advantage of this? DO I just keep porting my number to a different sim card after 30 days?
I'd suggest contacting Optus about this as I am not familiar with the porting process.
Porting number is one option. Second option is to cancel your number(might have some fees associated with some providers). Third option is to leave number without recharging. It will cancel itself in due time. I normally follow first option.
When you buy a starter kit, are you provided with a separate docket with the $30 voucher? If so, can you use that to top up an existing prepaid number?

If this was a true student deal it would be $19 per month ongoing not just for the starter pack. $19 for a starter pack is nothing special.
I am already on this new $30 prepaid optus plan. Can I buy this and use as a new monthly recharge or do I have to first port my number to non-optus and re port back to optus to take advantage of this deal?
This is $15 at Woolworths (ends tomorrow) and $5 when you spend over $30 on groceries at Coles (ends tomorrow as well).
