  • I wonder if this will be deleted like all the other nexus 6 deals

    • Nope, deal is on now

      • Alright finally !

    • why would it?

    • Bet it will.

And still too expensive knowing as we do that the replacement is just around the corner.

      • DEAL IS ON - 5 bought, 95 left

    • The difference is the deal is now active. With group buy deals, it is only posted when active.

  • Got one and hate it. Would any time chose a Note 4 or similar over it.

    • Can you explain why you hate it? Nexus 6 has received mostly favourable reviews and is running a clean version of Android.

      • I am not sure myself. The biggest issue is the attery is pretty weak compared to the note 4. And to be honest i am slowly getting sick of Android with it's dozens of google add-ons which you can't uninstall.

        • That's interesting. I would have thought the 3220 mAh battery would have made it a road warrior. Hopefully Android Marshmallow cleans the OS up a bit more. I just think the 6" screen would be amazing for media consumption and the build quality is great.

          @ShamelessBargains:

The screen size is pretty much the same as the Note 4 but overall the Note is a by far better phone. I have had one and sold it after i got the Nexus 6. Big mistake. As soon as i get rid of my Nexus i will get another Note 4, or maybe 5 if released

        • @dosada: I guess the note and nexus are targeted at different markets. Bit of a price difference, you could buy 2 nexus 6s for a note 5. I reckon the note 4/edge would be a better buy over the 5 unless you love that design.

        • @ShamelessBargains:

For a start nexus 6 is note 4 era not note 5. I'd compare it against it peers like the note 4, not current gen flagships. It would be great if the nexus 6 Was up to date and could be comparable to the note 5 with this price point. Hopefully next nexus is. :)

Like many ozbargainers I picked up my note 4 for around $70 less than I could have got the nexus 6 at the time. The nexus 6 was very expensive when first released. It's getting cheaper like all last year flagships that are about to be replaced by new models.

Hate the phone based on a "not sure". Best review ever… And i dont know about the battery life being weak. I flew to melbourne from sydney and watched videos all the way down and back. Played games and read news/emails/ebooks and made numerour phone calls and sms as well as photos over a span of 2 days and when I got home and it was still on about 40% battery. As for the apps, you know you can ignore them right? and im pretty sure most of them can be disabled. You just sound salty about it not being a Samsung. You complain about Google bloat apps but not about touchwiz and Samsung bloatware…

        • +1

@pegaxs: You can uninstall the Samsung crap if uou have root access. But you can't the google add-ons and if you do they come back

          @dosada:
The note 4 is such a terrible phone, endless lags and terrible battery life (~3 hr on screen time).
Try pressing on the multitask button, there's a long delay between the press and the screen actually showing up, the note 4 is full of that crap.
Getting rid of my note 4 soon, definitely the worst android I've used since the Gingerbread era. (Thanks samsung, first samsung time user, and won't be getting any samsungs in the future)

        • @clse945111:

I've got 7 hours screen on time before with my note 4. Battery life always been awesome on my mote 4. The only thing I don't like on note 4 is TW and no front facing speakers.

        • +1

@Ronnnie: Front facing speakers should be standard on flagships. It makes for such an improved user experience.

        • +2

@dosada: GO to "Settings", then "Apps", scroll across to "All", select disliked Google app, select disable, app gone and not visable in draw and no more updates. No root required.

I dont know what Nexus 6 you have been using. I think you never owned one and just wanted to hate on something… Give me vanilla Android over Touchwiz and "root" any day…

  • I can not believe the recent released Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has a equivalent powerful soc to this SD805 but only sells at US$169…

Would have bought the Redmi Note 2 already if it has NFC..

    • I don't understand the big fuss over specifications. Most flagships now are all easily capable of running everything smoothly but you are paying that bit extra for the closer integration with the operating system when buying a Nexus or iOS device.

      • -1

No, if you want to pay more for Pure Android Experience, you do not need. The nexus 5 is a better deal. It is more reasonable that you pick up a nexus 6 for other reasons like big & good quality screen, NFC, wireless charging etc.

Again, the Redmi Note 2 has 13M main camera, 1080p screen and 4G dual sim plus Micro SD. And MIUI V7.

Fantastic deal. I paid $788 for it last year :( ah well! If anyone buys one, I recommend the Spigen Slim Armor case http://www.spigen.com/collections/nexus-6/products/nexus-6-c…

But keep in mind there are rumoured to be a new Nexus coming from LG and Huawei

    • Yeah it will be good having two sizes to chose from when the new Nexus devices are announced later this year.

Still I reckon this an excellent buy for a big screen phone with a smooth Android experience :)

  • +3

Make it a 64GB for $499AU and I might be interested….until then pfft

    • That would be an amazing price. 64gb is the sweet spot in storage too. 32 is still better than 16 though..

      • +1

32 I find perfectly acceptable for my use. It varies from person to person really. Judging by the recent iPhone 5c deal posted, some even find 8gb acceptable for their needs.

I hoping the new nexus 5 ticks all the boxes in terms of hardware. I'll be surprised if it does judging by past nexus releases though.

    • +1

cant see it becoming 64gb but when the next two nexus phones come out i can see it being $499 or less. For me its just way too big, and most the new phones being released are 5.5 .. i personally don't want anything more than 5… seems like there's a bigger is better mentality in android universe! which is getting annoying.. hehe

Why would you buy this when you can get LG G4 for under $600. Much better camera, updated performance, expandable memory and changeable battery. Pure Android experience should come at a reasonable price, otherwise why bother?

    • +2

This is Australian stock, has a larger display and faster updates. The G4 under $600 doesn't have Australian warranty and you can't claim TRS when you travel overseas. It may have a better camera but user experience counts as well.

      • What is better user experience that a stock android has but an optimized android does not have?

IT IS ONLY A PERSONAL PREFERENCE/OPINION THING. Do not keep mentioning it as your supporting statement. Because it could be FALSE.

LG G4 is the king of Android in 2015 in terms of functionality by now. Period.

        • Of course it's personal preference but you should also consider is it better having the company that creates the software to produce it for the hardware as well?

Seems to be working rather well for the largest company in the world.

  • +2

The s808 isn't clearly better either. If you play games on your phone, then the s805 is the better choice with better gpu.

    • True statement. But the 808 is more speedy and power efficient than the 805 and the pure gpu performance between the two is about 15%, which in many cases, is not noticeable.

  • I looked at reviews comparing the G4 against the Note 4 when the G4 first came out. Reviewers tended to found the G4 had slightly worse battery life and the G4 still suffered with laggy UI from time to time. Apart from the camera it didn't seem like an upgrade to the Note 4, and missed a few features of the note 4. I don't see how it could be coined "the king of Android phones in 2015', when it not much of an upgrade over a 2014 phone. There's plenty more phones to come out this year too, the phone to be had in 2015 is hopefully the new nexus. :)

I'm still waiting for a phone with great battery life, good camera, good front facing speakers, reasonable build quality, fingerprint scanner and smooth UI (no lag whatsoever) preferably using vanilla Android. I hope the nexus is the phone to deliver it. So far the closest I've found is the Note 4, but it fails with TW and lacking front facing speakers. I can live without and sd card slot or being able to replace battery. :)

    • I've owned both and apart from the stylus I would term the g4 a definite upgrade to the note 4…the battery life is not as good as the note 4 under heavy usage but under normal usage it is quite good as it hardly uses up any battery during standby. Note 4 was too large for me (have tried both the note 4 as well as edge). LG g4 is way smoother (still lakes sometimes though).
