  • Bought one of these in a previous sale.

Decent quality, better than the majority of the cheapo Microsoft and Logitech and generic ones.

I'd put it around the level of a Microsoft LifeCam VX5000 (~$50).

  • bought one of these few weeks ago, not a new sale but a good deal :) nice quality camera!

  • Nice one. Just bought one.

  • Looks to have mostly positive review going by http://www.amazon.com/HP-KQ246AA-8-0MP-Deluxe-Webcam/product…. For $20 and the good reviews, it's worth giving it a shot. Just bought one :)

Thanks for posting the deal scrimshaw!

  • this deal had been there for several months, duplicated?

    • It was sold out for a little while. I decided to resurrect it seeing that it's up again.

I just bagged 3 of these cameras, they make a pretty good (but cheap) gift for the holidays.

  • Sweet deal hopefully it works with my ps3 too.

  • great thanks been looking for a webcam. Using a ps2 eyetoy as one is getting kindof old.

  • it works with a ps3??

  • I am pretty sure this wont work with a PS3. Details of models that work with PS3 here:
    http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?bo…

  • Bought one previously. I agree with others that it's great quality - just as good as a Logitech one which cost me $70. Works out of the box with Linux.

  • great deal. I was looking at getting a Logitech Quickcam 9000 (around $90) but given the price I'll give this a go - I'm sure if I don't like it someone else in the family will. Any idea how it compares to the Quickcam?

    • The 9000 is a fair whack better, but for basic Skype and whatnot you probably won't notice the difference.

  • Found this website: http://www.uvccompatiblewebcams.com/
Which recommends it for use with Mac OSX 10.5.x.

  • It works great with PS3 !!!

  • SOLD OUT !!!

  • i grabbed one of these!

for the price even if it's average i can't really complain.

  • Bulldog - you sure?? - we have about 20 left…..

They may have been held up in in-completed transactions,

    ODS.

  • I think it is really sold out now…

No idea why I cannot add item to shopping cart.

  • i just checked my bank account today and was charged twice .. how do i go about getting my money back?? any suggestion?? this is my first order with them..

  • Sold out for me also.

  • Received mine today, but it seems as though it is DOA. Regardless of which computer I try it on, when I plug it in Windows (XP SP3) does not detect anything and it does not even show up in Device Manager.

Going to try some more and also on a friend's computer, but it's not looking very good at the moment. :(

    • Ended up returning mine for a refund. Lost out on postage costs (to and back), but props to Extrastock staff for their prompt and smooth handling of the return process.

As for buying another webcam, will probably go with Logitech/Microsoft when I get around to having a look at the various models.

  • I recieved mine today too, and it don't works. After installed all the drivers, and restart the PC and plug it into the USB, it said "USB device not recognized". I tried two laptops (both is XP and updated to the latest patchs). :(
Hope any one can find a way to fix it.

    • I have received the response from bluepoint, the email is below:

All warranty and tech support is with HP so we would suggest you contact
them first to see if there is a special driver or patch required to use
with XP ServicePack 3. They can be contacted on: 131047 Monday through
      Friday 8.30am to 6pm.
If they confirm it is an issue please let us know (we can refund then
once received back and confirmed it is HP problem with item) - but we
have a couple that have had SP2/3 issues that have been resolved with HP
tech support guidance over the phone.

So we need to contact the HP for the latest driver to check whether it can fixed the problem or not.

  • I am having the same problems. Every time I plug it in the usb it says it's malfunctioned or something like that.

  • I have problems with it too. but Windows 7. I cannot install the drivers :(

  • i got it last week. and it works fine(im using win7)! better than the webcam i had before. good deal.
