which works out to about $110.65 AUD (at XE exchange rates).

Which works out to AUD$123.50 if using Amazon rates. Need to use US Dollars and have a CC that does fee free FX (28 Days etc)

      Lol, its 28 Degrees.

    • +4

Yep … gotta love the 28 Degrees credit card! … Or 28 Days … if you're into zombies…

    • Actually it's more like $118, I don't know how OP got $110.

      • Yep, it's $118 delivered to Australia.

      • +2

Sorry my bad (rookie error), when I converted using XE I forgot to convert the delivery charge. I converted the price without delivery ($80.98 US) to get to ~$111 AUD.

So with delivery it converts to ~$118 AUD which is still cheaper than what it was last week. I have changed the title and description now.

    • You can also use Citibank Plus, I use their debit card for free conversions.

    • Not sure how long you've been on OZB but man….i still remember days when crucial SSD was so popular and people on here would pay $2xx for 128gb capacity from bhphotovideo.com and have it shipped to AUS….oh and even group buy together…time goes so fast

  • Was making an order with Amazon anyway, so adding this only added an extra $1.50 shipping for me. :)

  • Ordered noice, thanks OP

  • samsung or sandisk then?

    • samsung, always samsung over sandisk unless you're going to get the SanDisk Extreme Pro model

      • Your rationale being?

        • +2

samsung uses higher quality chips and a better controller than the sandisk models in the same price range. failures are much lower with samsung drives because of that, and their performance overall is better in terms of read/write speeds.

        • @eklipze: ah bugger, bought 2 sandisk from deals before. Thought Sandisk is pretty reliable and well known. Guess I should have hold a bit longer

        • @Droid11:

Don't worry. In real world applications, the numbers aren't really noticeable and the good thing is SanDisk has a good warranty policy if any of them fail.

        • @eklipze: Samsung had several serious issues related to their SSD firmware before… the "safety record" on Sandisk is actually better.

        • +1

@Droid11: Get an Intel SSD if you are too concerned about reliability. In real world scenario, they all are the same. I myself am using an OCZ ARC 100 and its flawless so far.

        • @poporange630: 840 evo models were affected by this. 850 EVO doesn't have any trace of it.

  • Yeah how you get $110AU?

    Like raven2000 said it $118?

$145 at MSY so not sure if $20 is worth the hassles

    • +3

$27 = roughly two large pizzas and more

      • +1

Pickup same day and return if DOA easier

        • +1

definitely an element of gambling here for the savings difference.

    • +1

      **$21.5

MSY warranty support - "Just take it back to the distributor yourself. If you leave it here with us…" Shrugs.

Amazon warranty support - "We'll send a replacement today, express. When you receive it send back the faulty unit, on our dime."

I'd pay $20 extra to shop at Amazon.

      • Agree that Amazon US & UK CS is excellent.

However to give MSY credit, they have looked after me well with my returns. The most recent was a modem that seemed to not work only on my line. On first return they replaced. As it still didn't work, I took it back again and they provided a full refund even though I had it for over 30 days.

  • Ordered thanks! Always thought buying ssd from Amazon not worth the hassle due to minimum savings vs msy. But this is big enough of a discount to worth it!

  • be careful if you are buying to install it on a macbook pro 2012 model. I'm still trying to get it working and looks like there are some compatibility issues.

    • might be firmware or sata controller issues?

Just waiting for the 500Gb version to go on sale now, hopefully around the $200AUD mark.

  • Thanks bobjane and other

Just need a bit clarity about warranty further. In case any faults covers by warranty do I need send it back to Amazon/ Samsung US or local Samsung. As per Samsung Australia they only response to products sold within Australia.
