New $399 Wii bundle at JB Hifi

90

I think this might be a new Wii bundle as in no other store but in JB latest games catalouge.

Wii Super Family Pack $399
Pack Includes:

  • Console
  • Wii sports
  • Nunchuck
  • Remote
  • Metiord or Mario party 8 game

and Wii sports pack:

  • Golf club
  • Baseball bat
  • Tennis raquet
  • Steering wheel
  • 2 x silcone gloves
  • 2 x remote covers

The console is $348 at BigW, Metriod game is $69 and Wii Sports pack is $27 in the same catalouge. So your getting $444 value for $399.

I am tempted to buy one, those that have them can I ask how quickly do you get bored with them and does anybody know if the remote has vibration feedback ?

  • Wow good deal! i love my wii, remote does vibrate and also has a speaker which is cute. It runs off bluetooth and infrared and can sense movement in 3D. New Mario Galaxy game is due out on the 29th which is tipped to be the best Wii game yet!

Wii is great for family and people new to games, easily keep you entertained for as long as the games keep rolling out! Can also rent games which is handy.

  • kazi

we bought a wii package a few weeks ago and television has almost become a thing of the past. We are not a young couple, but I have become a champion tennis player and bowler, all from the comfort of my lounge room. Go get it, fantastic buy 10/10 (The grandchildren spend most of their spare time here now, and yes, there is a slight vibration, but it is pleasant.

  • To answer the question of how quickly you get bored with it, just take a look at how much time you would spend playing games, and the library of games that are available for the Wii.

For me, I might average 3-5 hours of gaming a week. With the games in my favourite genres (Action adventure) usually lasting around 20+ hours, that's about a month's worth of gaming (but usually longer). There are a number of great games (Metroid, Mario Galaxy, Zelda, etc.) which are keeping me well occupied, and where I don't have enough time to dedicate to progressing one of those games, I can always just fire up Wii Sports for a quickie.

    Highly recommended.

  • anyone planning on buying a Wii should buy one now.. shortage of supply predicted by Nintendo

  • the catalouge does say "limited stock be quick", do people think that other stores might have this deal as well cause I want to get it but closer to Christmas and not so early.

Not sure if I should run out to Jb now and grab it while I still can but sure others stores like HN would match it.

And another non-Wii owner question, whats the story with thr Wifi logo on it, can I surf the net on the Wii if I got Wifi at home ?

There is apparently an Opera for Nintendo Wii so it definitely has web browsing capability. As of Wi-Fi, I think you can buy USB-Wifi connector for Wii.

I wonder whether Opera gesture works with Wii Remote.

      Disclaimer: I don't have a Wii :(

    • Wii has built-in Wifi, you can indeed use Wii to surf the web and watch Youtube on TV, etc. It however requires a browser as Scotty mentioned. The browser used to be free but it now costs $5 and you need to purchase it from Wii Shop when you connected your Wii to the net.

  • Okay I decided to get one today, thought why am I working two jobs and not getting any joy out of it (edit: because of house prices that’s why!!!)

Went to local JB (Melville in WA) but was told they have everything in the bundle except the sports pack accessory. As such they are selling the bundle minus the sports pack for $13 less or taking orders with no guarantee to come by Christmas.

I said why $13 off when the catalogue says its sells for $27 ?
They said the cost price is $13.

Went to another JB store but I was to told same story there as well.

Went to HN but they said they cant match cause their console price alone is $399 so cant give away a sports pack and a free game. Also went to David Jones and they said same thing. Kmart however can partially match the deal as they are selling their Wii with the sports pack for $388 but no free game.

Might have to place an order with JB and cross my fingers.

    • Mate, you don't really need the sports pack accessory. If you can save $13 for not having to bundle your Wii package with that, I'd do so in a heartbeat.

      Alan

      • Agreed, sports pack is just like a casing for the remote. You can pretty much use your imagination as a replacement. :)

  • That comment about Harvey Norman is actually double funny when you know that they tried screwing Nintendo over a while ago, which is why Nintendo stopped supplying them. Looks like they've eaten humble pie and are selling Wii's now, although at a much lower margin than probably what others (e.g. JB's) get them for - that's why they can't give you the discount.
