Not really a bargain but Amazon US had stopped selling Neato Robotic Vacuum cleaners overs for a while now (I bought 2 from them a few years ago). Now Neato is releasing the new Botvac (D80/85 and D75). The D75 on the Amazon US site shows it is posting to Australia. Not sure if this is an error as up to now it had not. The D80 still doesn't ship to Australia but the extra $100 probably isn't worth it anyway.
The current Botvacs are selling at Myer/David Jones for $900-1000 and from other online retailers for over $700. No local retailers have the D80/85 or D75 for sale and I bet when it does arrive it will cost well over $800.

  • Considering it is the same guts as the previous generation XV-21, it is an expensive premium for the side brush. I just wish the battery duration and life lasted longer.

  • I recently bought a Botvac 85 and it is far more intelligent than the 2 XV-21's I have. Obviously its the newer software but I think its probably processing stuff a bit more efficiently also.

how many vacs do you need?

      • +1

Two for the home and one at my business. For the home we have one upstairs and one downstairs. Yes, I am lazy but such is life. Got the original XV-21s for around $350 which is much better value than anything at the time. I have changed the batteries twice (every 12 months or so) and they are still running strong although one is beginning to complain so I suspect 4 years is probably geriatric for robot vacuum cleaners.

        • where did you get the 85 from, is it better than the 75?

        • +1

          @PVA:

I got the 85 from David Jones while it was on special and had a Amex $50 bonus as well. This is the Botvac 85 NOT the Botvac D85 (the D85 is the recently released model and not yet available in Australia).
In terms of the range I think the main difference is how many filters comes with it and the type of brush. The internals are the same.

  • "Pet, human or other… Neato doesn't discriminate."

  • Is this only for hard floors or will it do carpet too

  • My Neato Xv-21 purchase 13 months ago just got error message "My vision was blocked". And it doesn't look like it is repairable in terms of cost. It was a good vacuum but short live. Once warranty lapsed, no one wants to know about it if something happens. Not sure for this Botvac vacuum though, but I would not touch Neato brand anymore.

    • Try and find a fix on whirlpool or another forum. The whirlpool Neato forum is quite active.

    • Where did you buy it from? If in Australia you for sure can get it repaired under warranty

      • I bought it from Amazon. Advised to contact the manufacturer in USA and of course they can't do anything other than go to my local repairer as it is out of warranty

  • This seems to be equivalent to the features of the LG Roboking Square, but with more powerful suction.
Downside is the side brushes aren't at the front, so it won't clean corners as well.

  • My XV21 recently died, battery flat.
Where is a good place to get a replacement battery?

    • Amazon?

  • +1

In case anyone cares the price (before postage) is now $359 for the D75 and interestingly they have the D80 for $449 and it now does ship to Australia also.

    • do you have the link for $449 D80?

You need to add it to your cart for the price to show up. Its $449 USD + postage ($72USD) ~ works out $522 USD

        • Got it. Thanks. Ordered D75 I can get the filters and brush for less than $100. But I do like the all black look of D80.

        • @ruriruri:

D80 is fitted with combo brush. That's the main difference between D75 and D80. It seems a lot for the combo brush.

  • D75 isnt currently in stock on amazon. I am considering D80. Does anyone know what i need in order to use neato D80 US version in Australia? Voltage transformer?

    • I am not sure about the current Neatos but previous models had a multivotage power supply. All you needed to change was the power cord which attaches to the power supply (it is a clover leaf 3 point).

  • You are correct. It is multi voltage. I just received a reply from neato customer service. A bonus over buying the Roomba. I just ordered the D80 from Amazon. I hope it is good! :)

  • Seems the D80 has now gone back up to $499 and the D75 isn't available for sale at this time (probably no stock)
