  • 36 Degrees and 4000k color? Are there 60D 3000K available for promotion as well? Thanks.

    • Hi we have plenty of MR16 warm white 3000k versions for sale, but unfortunately none are 60 degrees beam angle.

      Most are 30 - 36 degrees.

  • Dimmable! very interested. 470 lm
Anyone used this before, how does it compare the Philips 7.5w in Bunnings?

Rep: 470 lm - is this equivalent to a 35w Halogan?

    • This product is equivalent to a 50W halogen globe.

      • are you sure? I'd like it to equivalent to 50w, but big ask. if I'm not happy with the performance, can I return it?
5 year warranty? who do I contact if any problems?

        • I was just speaking directly OSRAM Australia in regards to this and they confirmed that this product is equivalent to a 50w halogen.

If the product is faulty / damaged we offer refund or re-send the product out again.

Performance wise as long as the product adheres to the product specifications we will not accept returns.

For the warranty you would need to contact us at VoltiDEALS and we will work with the supplier (OSRAM) for the warranty claim.

We haven't had one product returned and we've sold 1400 of them.

        • @Voltideals: 50W GU5.3 halogens output considerably more than the 470 lumen that this LED does. e.g. 770 lm, 765 lm, >800 lm, 800-900lm, 900lm, 750-900 lm, 800 lm.
This LED also has a narrower beam angle than most halogens.

        • @andrew1879:

Upon speaking again with now a technical product manager from OSRAM Australia, he has indicated that it is acutally a range of 35W-50W halogen equivalents that it is comparable to, depending on obviously the lamp.

The global OSRAM headquarters (Germany) uses the conservative measure to say it is equivalent to 42W Halogen but they have used 50W in the past.

  • I am a bit confused. So is this actually MR16 for 240V or 12V ? It is stated here as 240V but the linked website also mentions 12V nominal voltage.

I also wonder - my OSRAM halogen is 35W 3000K with stated luminance of 550lm. Should I be expecting better luminance if this LED is a match of the higher wattage 50W halogen?

And finally, I just received some other company's offer to replace all my halogens with their LEDs for $5 per globe, labour included. Would this globe be twice as good since it costs about 10$?

    • most those replacement LEDs are cheaper quality, claiming 6w or 7w but less lumen, I'd be cautious unless it's the Philips dimable one which normally cost $10 extra.
I agree that 470lm is probably less than 35w but that's normal with GU5.3 LAMPs. I''m happy if it is equivalent to 30w halogen.
you can easily change over your self with a ladder. I'd rather keep my options open when the real deal LEDs are available on VEET scheme. I wont mind pay it myself to get the most used downlights changed for now.

    • This an error on our behalf, it is supposed to be 12V. We have the changed the listing.

It's really hard to compare to halogens unless you know the actual lumens output.

Some could be 35W, others could be 50W, it depends the lamp etc.

In your case your halogen would probably be a little brighter than this product as this is only 470lm.

Also keep in mind, this is a cool white lamp (4000K) and yours is a 3000K warm white, so colour would be different as well.

In terms replacing the globes, you really have to be careful here with what products they are putting in as replacements. There are so many LED companies out there, and not all are the best of quality.

You really do get what you pay for with LEDs.

With OSRAM it is along with Philips, the biggest lighting company in the world so you know you have that reliability and after service support should something go wrong, unlike a lot of these emerging LED companies who probably won't be around in 5 years, yet claim 5-10 year warranty.

      • Thanks. I would be happy to go with a more reputable globe even if it costs a little more and I can change the globes myself anyway. The 4000K, however, may be too cool for me though.

  • Any chance of buying 10 units please? I don't need that many.

  • Hi Rep…

I'm new to this LED stuff.. I have old house and most of the lights are Halogen
They are all using the OLD style transformers.
I'm sure they are all MR16.

Thus this bulb able to handle those transformer?

    • In most cases yes, it would be suitable as retrofit replacement for old halogen lamps using the same transformers.

If you have any details about your transformer, we can check for you to make certain.

  • just bite the bullet, I do need some decent dimmable LEDs. this one has very good price/feature ratio. Hope 4000k is not too cool for me, but if it's bright enough and dimmable, then it's ok. I'm still waiting for better ones at this price, I've got 80+ down lights in the house!
similar Osram ones in Bunnings are selling ~$25 each. even those cheap 5w/6w are $5 or more.

    • Thanks for order, keen to hear your feedback once you receive and install the items.

  • +1

received in 5 days, installed today:
proper fit into 50 sockets, not noticing any flickers even on dim switch, not dimming so well as halogen but working fine
I had doubts before ordering. I had Osram energy saving ones, but not impressed before.

side by side these are very close to Phillips Halogen 50w warm white 36 degree, we feel they are a touch brighter maybe due to cool white, certainly we can read very well under both.
more like day light rather than surgical white, if it's warm white, I'd buy more again.
I hope OP will do a sale again with better savings, so others can have their say
