Scott, I remember you. You were the one that said (in relation to a previous MEBank post): 'Feel free to ask any questions below my post' and then you never came back.
    Nice.

    • But I'm here right now bohn!

Fair point though, I'll try to answer everything I can.

      • That's really helpful to everyone you ignored. We're so lucky you're returned to post your ad. What a fantastic and professional rep you are.

No sweat pmupsinep, thanks for the great feedback!

and then you never came back.

He was logging in Ozbargain as noted by lot of people in the thread, just chose to ignore the queries

  • +1

Never got my $50 from the June promo.

    • Hey Zippy7, assuming your account met the terms and conditions of the promo, it should have been processed. Send you contact details to [email protected] and we'll look into it. Scott

      • I've sent an email tonight. Hope you can help get it sorted out.
        Thanks.

        • Hi Scott,

I had one missed call and got a message to call your general number, plus an email to that effect.

Given I dont have time to sit on hold, I replied to you email requesting an answer to my query.

I've sent a couple of requests now with no response.

Please try to improve your customer service level and ask someone to respond in a reasonable timeframe.

          Thanks.

  • Hi Scott,

I signed up last deal and also got an attached savings account with the bonus interest. How do I link the savings account to my normal account so that I can log in an see both in the internet banking page?

I've been meaning to call up to ask, but I've been really time poor and can't really wait around on call waiting at the moment.

I got my $50 from the last deal and 5% back from PayPass purchases, so it's been great for that, but I want to move my savings from my crappy NAB ~2.5% to your much higher savings account.

    • Hey c0balt - assuming you have both set up correctly they should both appear. Do you think you could flick me your ph number to [email protected] and we'll call you and double check it's working right. We absolutely want you to bring that money over from NAB.

      • Thanks, will do soon.

  • Does the 5% cash back apply to this offer?

    • Hey bluedufflecoat - Not to this offer, no. But it does cuts and pastes text approved by our lawyers include: Receive free access to ME ATMs and our preferred ATM network of Westpac, St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne ATMs. Open your ME EveryDay Transaction Account from 31 July 2015 and receive a refund on fees incurred at all other ATMs in Australia within 30 days of the transaction. We may change or withdraw this offer at any time.

      • Got excited until I realized that the Paypass cashback offer doesn't apply.

Is that offer still available, in lieu of this $50 bonus?

        • Morning shake, the 5% cashback isn't available at the moment, only $50 this time! Scott

  • +5

$50 sounds good but nothing beats cashback offer by ING (and previous offer from Me Bank). I dont think many people will be interested as there are no ongoing benefits. Many Banks offer free ATM transactions now.

    MeBank - > #BringBackCashBack

    • +2

But $50 is still better unless you are going to spend $1000 on contactlessss transactions within three months. I think that's hard to do if you're being a frugal OzBargainer.

      • +3

That's easy mate. 4 trips to woolies/coles and 2 trips to filing station, itself makes 6 close to $100 transactions. With the cost of living in sydney, you can easily spend $1000 in 2 months. Cashback is ongoing incentive to stay with the company otherwise its too much botheration to keep opening/closing accounts for $50 bucks.

        • Hmm well I personally don't spend that much. At the same time you can get this $50 and still keep getting 2% with ING. Then $1000 of spending will get you $20 so the gross result will be $70.

      • within three months

        It's usually 6 too.

    • Hey amsaini15, I've passed your feedback onto our promo elves for operation #BringBackCashBack but for now, $50 and aint bad! Thanks, Scott.

    • +1

      +1 for your hashtag, but..

I think $50 is enough for plenty of Ozbargainers to just open and account, satisfy the criteria with 3 purchases, pocket the $50 and then close. But I agree with you that for the majority of people, they would get more from 5% ongoing 6 months cashback than $50.
I don't think many banks offer free ATM withdrawals, except for ING. Is there anyone else?

      • This offer does cuts and pastes text approved by our lawyers include: Free access to ME ATMs and our preferred ATM network of Westpac, St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne ATMs. Open your ME EveryDay Transaction Account from 31 July 2015 and receive a refund on fees incurred at all other ATMs in Australia within 30 days of the transaction. We may change or withdraw this offer at any time.

      • This offer does not give free access to ALL ATM but only to "preferred ATM network of Westpac, St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne ATMs."

HSBC, Citibank, Westpac - all provide free access to above ATMs.

Once you have taken advantage of this $50 offer, you will not be eligible for any future offers from ME Bank even after closing the account. So all this opening and closing for $50 only.

  • I never got $50 despite of spending and using the account currently since the June offer but every week goes by I never receive the $50 promised.

    • Hey sajidmib, if you want to flick us your contact info to [email protected] and we can sort that out for you. Scott

  • +1

I closed my account 2 months back and currently does it have any relation with h ME bank. Am I eligible for this offer?

    • im in the same boat.

    • Hi amar503, unfortunately you're only eligible if this is your first ever ME EveryDay Transaction Account. Cheers, Scott

  • +3

Oh wait.. there's actually no more 5% cashback promo offered by MEBank?

edit: And I don't mean in relation to this deal that's been posted. I mean in general!

  • Just submitted my details, let's see what will be ;)

  • +4

These guys are dodgy, Ive been waiting for $50 missing referral bonus to be credited to my account for over a month. They confirmed that i am eligible for it, by for some reason refusing to add it to my account

    • Hi easternculture, shoot ME an email to [email protected] and we can look into it for you straight away!!! Dodgy is not what we're after at all. Scott

      • Does this apply if applied before 5pm, while have it verified in post office in later time? Or it has to be verified by 5pm online.

      • No Thanks. ill just take it up with Financial Ombudsman. More than 1 month since i emailed you guys and you guys confirmed im eligible. Still waiting for the $50 to be credited.

Them you'll get a small red dot next to your bank. One day hopefully they will fine you a few thousand for false advertising and misleading conduct

    • Well I got my 100 referral one..

  • Be very very wary of ME Bank. I gave them a go back in May 2015 and had a huge amount of never ending trouble with these idiots. We just sold our house and had to park the proceeds for a few months and they were offering a bonus interest rate 1.25% or thereabouts above their term deposit rates for up to $250K on a standard savings account, plus a free debit card etc. etc. This sounded good and reviews online were pretty good so we opened an account and shoved $250K in it, and put the rest of our proceeds in a term deposit with them. So what happened? They opened the term deposit and we put our cash in it, they NEVER opened the standard account properly. For several weeks I was on the phone doing everything they asked me to do but nothing ever happened as it was supposed to. 4 weeks after attempting to open the standard account I called them and said forget it, as I never received any of their supposedly mailed correspondence and I had already missed out on a month of interest earned. At week 2 I changed our postal address to a post office box and requested they re-send all documentation. They said sure, but I have NEVER received any documentation from these clowns. A few days ago the term deposit matured after 3 months & I pulled everything out of the term deposit and I finally got an explanation as to why I never received any mail - originally I had mail sent to our residential address but apparently because there was a hyphen in the street number (for example: Unit 46 / 1-7 blah blah road) their stupid mailing system couldn't handle it and nothing was sent - I only was given this information 3 days ago. After I changed our address at week 2 to our PO Box we still didn't receive anything because these geniuses hadn't reset a flag after their stupid automatic system decided they couldn't post anything to our residential address. I made numerous complaints and asked for help but never got any "Sure, I'll have someone on our disputes team ring you to solve this problem right away" what a load of bollocks never received any calls from them. These jerks cost us a fair bit in interest earned and have never responded to complaints or questions or returned calls asking for help on this, STAY AWAY!!!

Edit: the post from "EasternCulture" above is correct, ME Bank has been very very dodgy throughout my unfortunate experience with them. I'll always stick to the mainstream banks in the future. Based on my experience, I don't believe ME Bank deserves to be in business.

    • -1

Hey hoverboardrider - there is a lot going on here and it looks like a pretty poor experience for you. Out of interest have you made a complaint with us?

      • +5

        lol hoverboardrider clear states
I made numerous complaints and asked for help

classic tl;dr. thumbs up for customer service.

        • To be completely frank with you it just looks like a wall of massive text to me. That's exactly why even you recognised it as being tl;dr.

The only criticism here is that he's a rep and should be reading it because he's a rep, but otherwise it wasn't made particularly easy for him..

        • +1

@illumination: Why does it need to be easy for him? It's his job to read it, he is getting PAID for it. If he doesn't like(or is incapable of) reading about customer issues he should consider cleaning toilets.

        • @pmupsinep:

          Hence me saying this:

The only criticism here is that he's a rep and should be reading it because he's a rep

Having said that, getting paid for it doesn't change the fact that a wall of text is still crappy to read. That was my point.

      • There's really very little going on Scott, in actual fact. Aside from piss-poor service from ME Bank and a lot of BS also.

  • get the $50 and leave them, these guys should be sued for impersonating a bank, quite frankly the worst customer service i've experienced from any professional organisation

  • Does it open only to Australian citizen or PR? Will international student be able to apply and get this rebate?

    • As it said must be austrlian to apply at the first page, then on the second page, i was asked whether I'm Australian and having the option to choose other nationalities

  • Havent seen any money from a previous promotion over couple of months ago. Did more than 3 transactions over $10. Called them and the guy had never heard of these promotions. He put me on hold 4 times to speak to his manager. Still couldn't come up with an answer. Hopeless.

  • +1

I got my money very quickly from a promotion in late June.

    • I can't post a make it rain gif heal, but I'd like to.

  • I never got my $50 either, after many phone calls finally they promised they would resolve and nothing.
So over it, no other way to say it….
ME bank you suck big time. No excuses really, how hard is it to honor your own promotion.

    • hey jd4free - how long ago was that? Can i get your contact details at [email protected] and we'll look into it?

  • Does this apply if applied before 5pm, while have it verified in post office in later time? Or it has to be verified by 5pm online.

    • rft123 - I'll have to come back to you on that one.

    • rf123 - you should be fine, need to have applied before 5PM. Good luck with the verification.

      • So as long is applied before 5pm, verification afterward is applicatable for the cashback?

  • Same experience for me. ME Bank has the worst customer service and their online banking page is very hard to understand too. They need to pickup their game before they should come with these offers.

Can Scott advise what has ME Bank done to improve from feedbacks they have been provided? Will Scott resolve everyone's concern or run away like in last post?

    • Hi amsaini15 - while there'll always be the odd issue, we're pretty proud of our customer service. Re internet banking, we hear you and we're working on it!

  • Never got my money in last promo they ran and worst online banking experience.
Besides every other line in this thread refers you to contact them to sort the issues out.
They should automatically give you the free credit without asking for it.

    • Yeh. Im not gonna bother contacting them. Ive got all the emails from Customer service that confirm i qualify for the cashback.

Ill take it up with financial ombudsman just to piss them off. Hopefully they also get invoiced by Ombudsman if my claim is right IIRC

      • It was a PITA for closing the account had to walk into the branch for it and couldn't close over the phone or online.

  • damn - was gonna open accounts for the kids, but gone.

hey OP - are kids under 18 allowed ?
do they require TFN's at time of opening, or just supply them when they receive them ?
