This code is supposed to be valid for first 300 customers, but I tested last time, two days later after receiving the code, it was still valid.

  • You should probably mention the code is valid today only online for the first 300 people

    • All the "limited to XXX customers" nonsense is designed to create a sense of urgency so Dick Smith get more sales. For ages now we've watched all this. Some codes end up in your inbox at 8am in the morning and they are always still valid at 11:59pm that night. Even the "mates rates" vouchers that we sometimes get remain valid long after the stated expiry date.

I'm not saying that Dick Smith will never enforce a stipulation but doing so would clearly run contrary to their new strategy, which is to always be offering "discounts" to as many people as possible so they can turnover more stock.

  • Does this model really have 4G? I don't see any mention of WWAN even.

    • +1

      Ram

      • Should probably add a B then.

  • There are cheaper better laptops in the eBay deal

    • Can you recommend a one with fhd screen?

      • I hate big screen laptops with low res screens

      • I'm after the same thing, 15" FHD. No 15" under $1495 (excluding discount), and a few 17" starting around $1250 before discount. Was hoping for 15" FHD for around $1K (before discount) with a low-mid graphics card.

        • get a Mac

        • @Gavman:

I'm getting rid of a MBP 13" to get this :)

Thought I'd love the MBP, and it a lovely bit of hardware, but really 13" is too small for my liking, and Mac OSX is awful. Trying to use Windows on Mac through Parallels, but production is massively let down by me trying to work out the keyboard. Time to go Windows again, figure I can sell the MBP for roughly $1K still on ebay, so that's funding my new laptop, hopefully.

Actually just found something and bought it! Dell outlet, Inspiron 15 7000, i7-5500u, 15.6" FHD IPS screen, m270 graphics card, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD, $999. It's a refurb, but otherwise is exactly what I was after.

        • Not a fan of Dell in AUS. I would put an SSD into it at atleast otherwise the I& and 16gb ram are wasted with a lame hard drive

      • you wont find a FHD i3 for sub 500$ unless it fell of the back of a truck lol

    • Examples?

Hi guys, Would you prefer this or the HP 250 i3 model from FutuOnline (eBay) which is roughly the same price after the 20% discount? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HP-250-15-6-Core-i3-Laptop-4GB-50…
    Thanks…

I found one with A4 using code CTREAT20 will bring it down to $369.
Compared to Core i3 (6.3) AMD A4 chip scores pretty similar number 6.1

Not sure how good/bad it is

    • Intel anyday.. AMD to many bad stories

      • My desktop has AMD 1055T x6 and no issues so far, may be lucky I'm :p

        • Its not expensive so cant go wrong I guess. give it a go.

  • I feel sorry for the people who bought it in the ebay deal for $50 more (sold out via ebay now).. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-15-6-F555LA-XO031H-W8-1-Note…

    Great find!
