      • where did you buy yours?

  • I've got a standard SIM, and this only seems to take nano-SIM.

That kills it for me as i can't source a replacement SIM as it's not actually in my name.

    • That's frustrating, the sim exchange only takes a minute or so if you go into one of your providers stores.

      • +1

Hmmm - maybe they'll do it without ID.

I've got a prepaid & just made up stuff when i activated.
You can't do that now because of this, enabled by this, darn it.

        • Try to cut it I did for my phone and it's working fine……….

        • Probably not. I did it yesterday at Virgin. Name, birthday, address. But get a SIM card cutter, sandpaper (and an adapter if you need to go back up in size for some reason).

        • @jagurspaw:

Oh yeah, i might be able to do that.
I initially thought i could only go down to micro-SIM.

I have one of these and it's pretty good. They come in Chinese and International versions. Mine is Chinese from Gearbest, though I'm not sure what the difference is. It runs on a Flyme android 5.1 OS which is nice. It's handled any full 3d game I've thrown at it. The camera is good (but can over-sharpen some images with lots of lines in them like trees without leaves, etc. There's an updated firmware that might fix this but I haven't gone through the process yet). Lightfield is great, panorama, the slow motion is really good. It comes with face tune features that let you make yourself look kawaii.

I had to install google play, there are tutorials online if you want to do it you have to install the services first.

Not sure if this is true for the international version but mine came with a fair few bundled apps that were aimed at the Chinese market and although the interface is in English the content is Chinese. The app store, the theme store, the game store, weather, reader, the music store. They all have a lot of free stuff. News and "Life" updates come in Chinese too. You can ignore pretty much all of this stuff and install your own apps unless you want to explore it randomly which can be interesting, specially the music and themes.

Battery life will drain pretty quick at heavy use (3d games, etc.) but don't all phones these days.. It has some decent power saving features but again you can install your own apps for this.

Enabling root is fairly easy, just create a Flyme account and go to the settings to enable root.

It worked right away when I put my vodafone sim in, no setting up. 3G/H+ were fine, I haven't been anywhere near a Vodafone 4G signal yet to test.

It's dual sim or sim + micro SD.

I've seen requests on the Cyanogenmod forum for the M2 Note so hopefully that will happen soon.

There's a 69 page thread that answers a lot of questions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/meizu-m2-not…

    • what's the avg battery life for normal use (non-gaming) but vids, etc?

      • I'm not sure. I haven't really spent much time watching stuff sorry.

    • Hi, Thanks for the info. Does the GPS work fine on your device? the other two china phones ive had with MTK chip have had terrible GPS functions, i.e. inaccurate and Gmaps unusable.

  • Grey is out of stock

  • Does JD have any good deals for under ~ AUD $120 (~84 USD)? The weak Aussie dollar is lowering my standards.

  • I don't know if code works, but this one with all explained in Russian is still available

    http://en.jd.com/m/ware/detail/714972

    • white only listed for $158

Damn, finally decided to take another spin on a china phone, and now out of stock. Probably better to get the disappointment out of the way now.

Deal is back on, i just ordered one. $118.99

    • Appears so but when i try to add to cart it says web page not available. Any ideas?

      • Sorted it out. Didn't like chrome. Edge works a charm. Thanks op

  • tried 3 different browsers (Chrome, IE, FF). I've got an order for one in my basket but website refuses to let me enter the payment gateway. On IE on my laptop, en.jd.com wouldn't even load. Frustrating.

EDIT: en.jd.com DOWN as of 3PM WST.

    • Still no luck? Just checked. Working for me on Chrome.

      • worked on FF just then. the website was just down before. thanks.

    • Ebay has a bunch. My last Nillkin was solid enough.

  • Grey is back in stock, coupon is working too

      Thanks I have unexpired

  • My first ever Chinese phone bought today if not good then will never buy again and continue with branded phones

    • I hoping its good too. I got caught up with some Mlais phones six months ago and many regrets. This phone looks like a Chinese phone made for Chinese ppl. Where as those ones I got were Chinese phones for sucker a$$ westerners. One screen broke after a 2 foot drop onto tiles (M52 - which was ok). The other one (M4) had no notification light (pain) and bad GPS (pain). Then i went back to my moto G and remember how good it is when everything just works. Tried to power up the M4 yesterday to see if any OTA updates have come out to rectify problem. and it dosent even turn on…

These phones look awesome - Are they limited to 16gb storage or can I purchase them with 32Gb?? My iPhone 5S is severely limited with 16gb storage! Whats everyones thoughts?

    • If you don't need second sim add a micro SD up to 128gb.

      • Hi, how exactly does the second sim card/ micro sd slot work?
Can I for example while I'm not travelling use the second slot as micro SD card, but if I am travelling put the second sim card in there?
        Thanks.

        • +1

Don't have this particular phone. Got a Huawei Ascend Mate 7 which is also dual sim setup.

The place for the second sim doubles for a memory card slot also.

So you either have a sim in there or a memory card.

Note however if you have 2 sims in there only one is 4G the other will work as 2G only. That is until you switch the settings around.

  • Thinking about it now this might be as good a deal when you look at the shipping. Blue only at that price

    http://www.dealsmachine.com/best_257579.html

wait up no, not free shipping.

  • Anyone know where I can get this in Hong Kong?
I can see this from taobao (China ebay) http://world.taobao.com/item/520018735587.htm?spm=a312a.7700…
but not sure if it can install google play/will it work in Hk/Australia?

    • Why shouldn't it work?

  • Mine was shipped out today. Getting excited now….fingers crossed will arrive soon

    • +1

Yeah I got a shipped email two hours ago two!

      • I also got a message that phone has been shipped.Any ideas when we have it in our hands:)

        • At least 2 or 3 weeks, I reckon.

  • please note, no FM radio if anyone listens to radio..

  • Fair point but most of people prefer internet radio. I just use netease music, it's a Chinese app like spotify that let's download offline songs all for free. You need to download apk to install. On iPhone you need to change to China first download and then revert back. English ask for android is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/netease-m…

  • Posting with my newly delivered Meizu Note 2 - Got it in the last sale (when the Lenovo was also on sale).

Deleted most of the Chinese Apps, and will root it this week.

Only problem ive found thus far is the music player i installed seems to turn of the music after 2 minutes. Something to do with the pre-installed Music Application taking over perhaps. Also the built in speaker is a bit crap compared to my last $200 approx. Moto G.

  • Should I get one? I still have my Moto G 2nd gen which does almost everything I need. By now, I can see the 1gb ram is struggling and there is slight lag.

    • I bought this one after owning the Moto G and am pretty happy. I think the battery life isn't as good and it doesn't sit as comfortably in your hand, but I'm really happy with it so far (having owned it for all of 2 days..)

  • same case here w/moto g 2nd gen, even did a full reset but lagging still… just ordered my first chinese phone! The missus gets the moto g, seh's managed to break every phone I've passed down… donno why I bother.. heavy duty case being ordered for the G !

  • Doh.didn't read that it only takes nano sims. What a pain! Don't want to have to cut both my sims Down in case I want to revert. Also one is a work owned sim which is supposed to be in a corporate iPhone 4s. So that would also be a pain.

    • Same here. Didn't realize that.

  • Stupid question, But could I put in say a standard sim to use calls and texts and then an additional data only sim?

    • Ye long as they they are nano sims. The best part is that even if the second sim its using data, the first sim can still receive calls.

      • How do you tell it which sim to use for data?

        • There is a setting which allows you to choose which sim is to be used for data.

        • +1

The only caveat is that whichever SIM you tell it to use for data becomes your primary SIM (4G), and therefore your sim for calls and texts is only 2G. This seems to work fine for me at the moment - but wont be so good when they start switching off the 2G network end of next year.

  • It's more expensive then before and comes down to $129.99 with the code.. still a good deal though.

  • Thinking of buying one of these phones? Are these Chinese branded phones safe? They don't send my info to Beijing do they?

    • These are valid questions. I'm always watching my bank balances that's for sure.

    • I am also concerned about that but I don't know how they can get info from the phone..

      • How would they do that? If you wanna be safe perhaps just erase phone.

  • I've read some reports of weak gps on m2 note now so I'm having some concerns over my purchase.

    • I am on the same boat .placed the order quickly without checking the reviews thoroughly.

  • wish they'd ship mine out! I know they said up to 5 days processing… dang they must have been smashed with orders!

  • Hey guys, does a simcard need to be in the phone in order to register with Flyme, and therefore root the phone?

  • Paid on the 5th, still no order confirmation or delivery notification…should i be worried?

i was sent a paypal transaction receipt on the day i placed the order, do JD normally sent order confirmation emails?

    • mine was ordered on the 6th & shipped on the 6th (& received email shipping confirmation)

    • That sounds stranger contact seller.

    • Check your SPAM folder if you are using Gmail, that's where mine was sitting in.

  • here's the resposne I got from them:

"Thank you for shopping at http://en.jd.com/

According to the Transaction ID 64G21695XF4511445, we have found your recent order 914669 (Meizu M2 Note Mobile Phone). Regarding this order, according to the system, the parcel has been shipped out by the seller, but the tracking information is not available at present.

As the item is provided by the third party seller, in order to make you could get the information as soon as possible, we advise you to contact the third party merchant on our website and send your inquiry about the tracking information of the parcel to them. Someone will reach you shortly. Here is the relevant screenshot of how to contact the seller for your reference"

Although I have no record of any orders in my account at all. But just as long as my order is in their system and it's being processed I'm good with that.

  • mine shipped today, ordered 6/9, emailed and had responses but nothing useful.. pretty crappy service there imo!

    • My order was made on the 5th, but no tracking information yet. Redmi Note 2 ordered on the 8th was in Singapore last Tuesday.

      • Mine says shipped, but it's still in china. There is something on the website
        Order Status: Awaiting Acceptance

and a confirm button. Do i need to confirm before it's sent?

        • No,don't do that.

  • Asus Zenfone Laser (White) for $205+pp from Android Enjoyed AUS. Better value phone imo.

  • Did any of you people receive the phone . .
I put an order on the Free shipping boat , should have chosen the expensive shipping model . .

I ordered it for the missus' birthday and it is less than a week away and I'm gonna be left with nothing but a sheepish smile as a present for her :(

    • I haven't either, but it did say 35 days delivery, so in theory not before 10-15 October, if you ordered beginning September

    • No. Not yet. It's a pretty slow ship I imagine. Maybe that one with the wobbly oar from the start of 'enter the dragon'.

  • +1

Received mine today, it shipped 15/9 but i opted for EMS shipping at extra charge, it hit AU on tues and tracking stopped, got docket in post box today for collection for AusPost office - in Hobart TAS,8 days not bad… decent phone for price very happy… flyme is ok, not dealbreaker :)

    • Lucky you :)

  • so after several emails back and forth with the nice ladies at en.jd, my phone was only shipped out via 4px on the 25/9 even though my order was made on the 5/9. I wasn’t expecting to see the phone anytime soon, but the tracking page says my parcel is already in Sydney, only after 4 days. Does this sound normal to anyone?

Could they have upgraded my delivery method free of charge?

    • Looks like it…

    • Maybe. Me on the same boat, ordered on 5th and shipped on 24th. I haven't contacted them much, but the it arrived at Sydney on 28th, much faster than my redmi note 2 order, both through 4px. I reckon they upgraded the courier service because of the 35 days delivery window.

  • Yeah my tracking information was there until it got to aus. I like to think either its now in that big warehouse from the end of raiders, or its being used in a data mining exercise in penant hills nsw. Or maybe it's counting drug money in its underwear in palm beach qld.

  • My order Status: Awaiting Acceptance.

Is this normal? Was shipped on 6/09.

    • +1

Edit: Just got a call from home, phone received.

      • Where are your home about?

        • +1

          Sydney

        • @slackme: thanks mate mine was shipped on the 6th too fingers crossed.

        • @sillyhead: I am in Sydney too and placed order on 5th and still no luck..

  • Anyone can recommend a case for it?

  • Played a bit. There is a screen protector came with it but useless. There are some software glitches, app closed unexpected. Interface a bit strange. Don't know if there are custom ROM for this phone. Battery is not removable, which I did not know. Screen is a bit smaller than my G3, both suppose to be 5.5". I don't know I made a good decision on this phone.

    • Apparently from what I was reading there have been some flyme updates. Might be worth. Updating. Apparently up to 4.5.4

      • Thanks for the advise, I have checked the updates, there is a new one available. Will try tonight.
        Flyme OS 4.5.4I, 833M, 2015-9-29

      • Tried to upgrade, no luck, keep saying the firmware file is corrupted, downloaded twice at home and work same result.

        • Did you download on a pc and put on a sd card. I read that the ota on the phone is buggy as hell. Also does the last letter of the firmware match the one that's on your phone.

        • Yes, I followed the instructions. Edit I did not copy to SD card, just the root of the phone storage as it says.
Also I did a factory reset, which did not do any good. Now the flash notification light stop working.
