  • Damn I haven't received my order and price drops.

    • +2

Same here, must be coming by boat.

      • +23

        Maybe it was turned back.

      • -1

        Maybe it was capsized.

      • -4

Perhaps it's waiting at a Hungarian train station waiting to go to Germany.

        • +4

perhaps it's better if you don't comment on others' unfortunate, it ain't funny

    • Did u receive the phone mate . . If so which carrier brought it in for u , Mine shipped on the 5th , is it realsitic for me to expect the product to reach me this week .

      • My Redmi Note2 was sent to ATC last Thursday, and no movement since then. Not sure what ATC means, googled and someone said Airmail Transit Centre. However for the Meizu, which was ordered two days earlier than Redmi, still no tracking information on 4px, I wonder whether it has been posted or not.

        • The free shipping option has no tracking I believe , God only knows where all of our mobiles are stashed sigh …

        • @kamban: No, both orders were freeshipping, and both got tracking Numbers.

        • @mily: I could not find it in the email that was sent to me , how did you get the tracking number mate

        • +1

@kamban: Check your order on jd.com,and there is a tracking button, click it giving you no useful tracking information however the pop up frame includes a tracking number like RF349014000SG, then copy that number to track it on 4px website.

        • @mily: Thanks mate , I will check the JD site ( my account is locked out for 2 hours , poor password memory :( )

        • @mily:
So I got the waybill number the same way, but I don't think it means there is tracking.
My guess is the number was generated by the 4px fulfilment program when it was lodged with the mail carrier.
I think if they had sent a tracked service, you would be able to enter that number at their site and see updates. But since there has been no update to mine since the 5th, I reckon they have sent it untracked airmail.
It will probably turn up in the next week or so.

        • @mskeggs:
The follows are the tracking information for my redmi note 2, which looks a pretty standard trackable number. However the other order for the Meizu, as I mentioned earlier, has no such information since 5th of Sep.

        • @mily:
Was it the same seller? I gather that different sellers on the jd.com marketplace can use different shipping. My shipping detail has now been updated to say: ship carrier: 镇海站
Sadly, I don't speak Chinese so i'm none the wiser.

        • @mskeggs: Same seller, and same format of waybills. My Meizu order was showing the same information as yours (镇海站), however this seems to be irrelevant information as it can be either a train station or a small town in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.
I've wrote to JD.com through the order management page however received no response yet, will wait another week and see if it will suddenly arrive someday.

        • @mily:
Based on that it makes it look like the Meizu order hasn't shipped at all, if you have got all that further info from your redmi order.
Maybe making the sale and using the money to place the orders at the factory.
I can't complain, as they did specify 35 day shipping, but on the other hand, maybe it will show up in the next week or so. I buy a lot of little things from China and the shipping is always mysterious. Some days stuff arrives in 10 days, sometimes 10 weeks, and it is never clear why some is faster than others. Just about everything ends up making it though.

        • @mskeggs:
That's right. My Meizu order eventually starts to move, the tracking information as of today is:

2015-09-24 15:42:30 Thu Mingle,Shenzhen,China The shipment arrived at operation center

          2015-09-06 15:42:52 Sun

So shipping out from their warehouse after 18 days~~ Well, it's still within the claimed 35 days time frame, can't complain too much.

And for my Redmi Note 2 order, the last change in the tracking is

2015-09-22 20:47:00 Tue Arrival at Destination

Not sure where it has been moved to from Sydney after one week, but I haven't received it yet.

        • @mily: Thanks for the heads up, mine has also started doing things. Mine has completed it's time at the operation centre and is now waiting for transfer somewhere in Shenzen.

      • free delivery, 24 days to Sydney.

        • oh dear , so the parcel may arrive at start of next month maybe :(

        • @kamban:
Mine has made it to Singapore, so cross your fingers!

        • +1

          @mskeggs: that's good news , thank you :)

I'm unable to check the status of mine as my account on JD is frozen due to password lockout and looks like I have to balance myself atop an unicycle while juggling three kangaroos and a panda to get the account unlocked , such is the difficulty of speaking to their customer care

        • +1

@kamban: The redmi I received yesterday took exactly 10 days from Singapore to my house. Better have a backup plan for mrs' B'day.

        • @mily: yup , have cooked up plan B already :)

If she's getting unhappy , got to go full surrender and get some flowers until the phone arrives ( IMO that's the worst way to burn money)

        • +1

          @kamban:
FYI, mine has said transferring to AUSYD since last Friday.

        • @mskeggs: better late than never , let's hope the auspost people don't screw our long awaited order

At times I forget I ordered one until the Mrs promptly reminded me I didn't get her any present for the birthday haha :)

        • @mskeggs: The phone has finally reached me today , initial impressions are good , hope yours come to you soon too :)

Thank you for updates and comments :)

        • @mily: Finally got the phone mate , it is like I found a long last trinklet !!!

        • @kamban:

Mine has had a status change on the 7th to Arriva at destination from transferring to AUSYD since late September. Sadly, I'm in Perth.

Can anyone clue me in as to how long it took for them to receive the parcel after this tracking update?

          Thanks!

        • +1

@avexdevil: My status was Arrived at destination on the 4th and I received it yesterday , so it took roughly 3 days , hopefully u get it by 10th

Perth is closer to Singapore , that should mean you must have received it earlier than me in Sydney sometimes the shipment logistics are funny ( I work in logistics and this baffles me ) =S

        • @kamban:
Logically speaking, but logistically probably not. Everything bypasses Sydney and makes a massive detour…

  • +1

very good phone I am using this one right now

    unbeatable price

    • Bzha, any chchance you can upload some photos of the screen? I am very curious to see whether it stacks well against a G2 in terms of contrast and white balance.

      • +1

I donot know how to upload pic. But what I can say is the screen is much better than my previous Sony Z2, both for contrast and white balance. pretty much similar as ip6+ screen IMO. also the flyme system seems like very easy to use. good to have a try, get the similar experience with korean brand samsung or LG at a much much lower price.

        • Hi , did the Google Play services come pre-installed or we need to muck around to install them ( not a big issue for me , just need to know so that I can hit the XDA forums ) TIA mate

        • +4

          @kamban:

the original package donot come with google play frame, maybe the JD store will open the box and install the frame for you

mine one bought in HK so came with an original sealed box and I download the google play frame from MEIZU app store(yes they provide). No need to jailbreak it.

        • @bzha515: That's great to know , Meizu has done a good move and reduced a great deal of effort … cheers for the effort to reply :)

        • +1

          @kamban:

I picked one of these up today in Yangon after seeing this post. I have the Chinese version from what I can tell and I've still managed to install google play etc.

          Followed the instructions over here:
          http://www.gizchina.com/2015/06/04/installing-google-apps-on…

        • +1

@G-Dawg: it couldn't be any simpler , thanks a ton for your follow up post mate , cheers

        • @G-Dawg: Hi mate , I received the phone yesterday and could see a few questionable apps installed including something called HIVE with an android icon .. looks suss to me

Did you have any of this by chance -> I'm planing to do a clean sweep install this weekend with the international ROM

        • @kamban:

Hmmm I didn't see the 'HIVE' thing you describe. There are a bunch of weird social apps and some random Meizu apps, but just bloatware. I did uninstall a lot of stuff when I received it and you can get root access by registering with Meizu if you want to uninstall most other apps.

I have Flyme OS version 4.5.4U at the moment but will be interested to see how you go with the international version as the chinese software does cause problems at times.

I personally would love to be able to put stock android on this phone, although I've quite enjoyed Flyme.

        • @G-Dawg: I will do further research on stock or CM based ROMs and give u an update mate, I'm quiet interested in this

I read long back meizu locks the bootloader so this may not be possible , let's see

        • +1

          @kamban:

as much as i appreciate all these chinese manufacturers creating healthy competition in the phones market through well priced offerings such as this, locking the bootloader is a bad business decision imo. I'm sure you can market a well spec phone like this with an 'unlocked bootloader' and it would sell more units than the other chinese phone manufacturers trying to be the next Apple. Innovation > Ambition.

        • @avexdevil: yes you are right on the money . . I hate the chinese shops for locking the bootloader and stifling the custom ROM development

      • +1

You will really get no idea of screen quality by doing that anyway. You will just get a picture on your monitor lel …

  • Did they just drop the shipping time from 60 days to 35? God it's so tempting.

    • +1

I think it depends on seller. I ordered one even if I don't need it… Couldn't resist the price!

    • It was 35 days of last sale, same seller BJone Limited.

  • +2

I would like to purchase this too , but the shipping times is putting me off
They should offer a 10 day shipping for around $10 , then it would be selling off the shelves …

    • +2

Caved in and ordered one on the free shipping - the true ozbargainer trait

  • +2

    FYI - NON removable battery

    • +1

Does it really matter with such a large battery?

      • Yeh nothing lasts forever. N theres no extended batt case for this fone as far as i know?

        • +3

          Of course nothing lasts forever…

But let's be honest, we don't buy phones thinking that we'll keep them forever.

(My Xperia Z1 battery is shit, but heck I'm ready to buy a new phone now).

        • @inose: Heh, my Xperia Z Ultra which is basically a Z1 with a larger screen and a shitter camera is going strong.

I don't have benchmarks to back it up but I have noticed zero degradation.

        • @Diji1:

          Ah… all good.

It won't last forever, that's the point.

        • -2

          @inose:
Hehe agreed ! Dont expect to keep the same phone forever. N phones with non removable batteries will die someday. N replacing the batt isnt straightforward.
If i forgot to charge my non removable battery phone and just got home from work n have to go out afterwards. Having a extended battery case would do the trick. Since i can just swap it into the case. I find powerbanks are awkward to charge my phone when im walking around in my pocket. The connector doesnt always make a good connection inside my pocket. Turns on n off all d time while charging. And it can damage the connectors.
I prefer removable batt phones anyway. But even my 2800mah s5 battery doesnt last long enough for me atm. Runs outta juice approx 12hours after i installed too many apps n updates.
Speaking of which the Meizu M2 Note would make a great backup phone ! And wouldnt cost an arm n a leg replacing it at that price!

    • +3

FYI: modern smartphone batteries last around 2000 discharge cycles. Let's assume you recharge once per day. I don't think you will be using the phone after 2000 days do you?

      • Yup ill upgrade to another phone by then. Would be nice knowing i can still take it back in service one rainy day. Like when i lose my main phone.
My iphone died after not being used after 1 year. Was upsetting.
But this phones cheap n it wouldnt bother me as much. :D

  • Hows camera on this phone?

  • Wow, now this one is what I call a phone. The battery is 3100mAh, octa core and of course 2 GB RAM!

  • Thnx

  • i assumed sim1 4G on data, and sim2 will be on 2G only?

And what does Dual standby means?

    • +4

As per my understanding Dual Standby means you can receive/make calls on either SIMs without any specific settings. Incoming calls are transparent. You can chose which SIM to use for outgoing calls on a per call basis or as per SIM selection preferences in settings for call and data. But once you are already on an active call on one SIM, calls cannot originate/terminate on the second SIM.

BTW, note that in this phone SIM1 slot can be either used for a nano SIM or a microSD card. If you need extended storage using microSD, you can't use the dual SIM functionality.

  • Looks great for specs. Hopefully battery is a true reflection (Elephone lie about battery capacity for instance).

  • some good coupons/deals coming from jd lately.

now i just need my phone to die, the aud to rise, or just a killer deal i can't say no to!

…the aud keeps dropping though so maybe it's time to buy D:

  • Damn - with the demise of our GSM netowkr, I got all excited about the "dual 4G" - according to JD site, this is NOT the case.
Both sims support 4G, but only 1 at a time, the other falling back to GSM!!(see note about 2/3 the way down the page).

Now with the fact that I have to sacrifice the sd card for the second sim I am wondering if I pulled the trigger a little quick…

I just hope the camera meets my expectations.

    • +1

There is no dual phone that supports two 4gs.

      • Yeah, I took this as an exception, but I should have known better.

        • Sorry! Camera is pretty good, this phone has very good reviews. I'm waiting for Ulefone be touch 2 to be delivered, but still bought this one as well as it is very cheap. You get a lot of bang for your buck imo, the ulefone cost me $250 and has very similar specs. The Meizu costs at least one third less with current offer.

      • Yes there is, The Elephone Vowney. If my memory serves me correctly.

      • I think there is - I read the other day - somewhere, someone upgraded firmware on their phone and found they had 4G on both SIM cards. It was the Elephone mentioned below either.

  • I got one, but with the $20 quicker postage. I didn't realise how bad our $ is, especially through PP as they don't accept CC.

    • +2

You let PP do currency conversion for you?!!

      Nooooooooooooo!

      • Did I have another option!?

It said it didnt accept credit card.

        • +3

i think in paypal you can choose to let your linked credit card convert for you.

        • @Jonski:

oh damn. I am disappointed in myself. Thank you for letting me know.

  • +3
    • +1

For those who don't like filling forms: the answer is Yes
      2G: 900MHz 3G: 2100MHz 4G:1800MhZ
Optus will also work on 2300MHz

Apparently the UMI eMAX should also support the 900MHz 3G band, giving better 3G reception on Optus.

The Meizu claims to support 900Mhz 3G, but maybe they are giving the specs for the M571 (International) (which supports 900Mhz) rather than M571U (which doesn't, according to "willmyphonework")?

  • Anybody tracked down good deals for screen protectors and cases for this?

    • Ali express have lots of different ones….

  • Was contemplating on buying this. But since I need extended storage AND dual SIM support, and didn't really need 5.5" screen, ended up ordering Doogee F3 Pro… I know I will lose the 3G 850Mhz but should be fine as I'll be using it mainly on Amaysim/Optus.

    • where did you order the doogee f3 pro from?

      • aud.dx.com

        • Not to rain on your parade but Australian DXs warehouses suck. Every time I've ever ordered a phone or tablet from them they never have stock. I've had to wait so long that a case I bought by airmail arrived before the phone did… I've never gone back since.

        • @Kikkoman56:

Never buy from dx.Com. They are very very poor in customer service. Created a lot of hassle for me when I tried to return their faulty bike light with 6000 real Chinese lumens.

        • @Kikkoman56: Well… I've bought only once before from dx and didn't have an adverse experience… in fact they shipped the item in 2 days by TOLL Express and received the item within the week… just hoping this one goes well too… f3 pro is on presale and availability was only from 31st Aug… So I'm expecting some delay anyways…

  • +1

I'm worried that this is the Chinese version of the phone, and not the international version.

    M571 is the international version.

M571C, M571M and M571U are Chinese Telecom versions.

I couldn't see any indication on the JD site as to which it is.

    • +1

      "WE SELL MEIZU M571U"

      • +1

Thanks :) I'll get me glasses.

Just checked 'will my phone work' and…. yes it will. 2G/3G/4G, all carriers.

They must install Play Store before they send it:
"There will be google play in the phone, the phone you will receive is the same as the screen below.".

I'm just checking with another store if they will price-match, as I have used them before and trust them.

        • +1

          Nope, no joy from Vickmall.

Paypal only for this unfortunately (oh well). US and UK only for card.

          $176.86 AUD (35 day delivery).

Ordered for my wife. Thanks OP.

  • is this phone unlocked? also the website must have crashed or something because its not loading :/

  • Is Xioami Redmi note 2 better than this? They have the similar price bracket and specs?

    • redmi has better OS, this has gorilla glass… Decisions decisions…I will probably get one or the other

    • Yep!
      1.3Ghz vs 2/2.2Ghz

      Comparison Tables;
      Xioami Redmi Note 2

Especially if you're looking at the souped up version
      Xioami Redmi Note 2 Prime

Similar devices in terms of specs, just a jump in CPU and GPU capabilities, afaik more premium materials/design in Xiaomi with IPS display and the favoured MIUI7 OS skin.

Very tempting to jump on this at the price. But I figure I may as well wait a little longer and spend a little more to get a considerably faster and less frustrating device to finally make the jump from iOS to Android.

    • My RN2 is so powerful, everything is like butter. Google maps is a revelation compared to my old lg g2 when panning and zooming, even with satellite overlay, switching to street view. It is simply a beast. I rooted it today so finally have google apps, twrp and supersu all working.
