    Upvoted for Sony throw blanket.

I bought my HW40ES for $2500 here (no extras) in Perth 3 months ago, but I believe the RRP has gone up since then, so this still seems like a good deal (considering the extras).

For anyone interested, I did a quick youtube review of how mine performed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVO9ff0MSNA

The recommended retail price has nothing to do with the value of this deal other than changing your perception of the value.

  • The soon to be released VPL-HW60ES is a replacement model for this I think, though at a cost of course.

  • Epson 8200 same price, I'd get it instead.

    • Most would suggest that the Sony HW40ES is superior to the Epson 8200. Sony and JVC are definitely pick of the bunch for current consumer projectors in this price range.

  • I'm waiting for UHD to come under $5k.

Even then I may end up with a 70” TV as they seem far better value than a projector.

    • No panel replaces a well configured projector setup, sorry.

JVC X35 for a touch over 3k, 100+ inch cinema scope screen with any 2.35:1 film. Makes any panel look silly.

  • Hi Brad, Yes, some three months back the projectors were cheaper.. Unfortunately due to the fall in the Aussie dollar pricing i would image will be steadily increasing. If there are ANY AV needs of the future please email to find out our prices — we are known to be the cheapest in the marketplace — cheers Andy from Kickstart Computers.

    • Hi Andy,

Looking to setup a home theater with a ceiling-mounted projector and surround sound speaker system. Would be used for watching movies, playing games, and the like. Would this be a suitable projector for my needs (assuming it is still in stock). What would I look for when looking to buy a projector? The area can be made relatively dark so not too concerned about lumens, although worried about input lag for gaming systems.

  • Hi Astro,
Yes, the Sony projector is still in stock and offers fantastic bang for buck - were the cheapest in most projector brands, however, the one within this deal is at the moment the clear winner. Your probably best off giving me a call within the office or on the mobile for answers to any questions - as an email cant explain all of what to look out for (my numbers can be obtained off the Kickstart Computers website). A signal is bottle necked by the processing speed of the graphics adaptor and this piece of hardware can be upgraded separately if need be, of course, for online games the broadband speed will be of a concern. Anyway, a call can explain all — cheers..
