D-LINK G604T Gen2 ADSL2+ Modem Router $60.8 after Price Match at Office Work

70

I bought it from Office work for $60.8 after they price match MSY. For me it's a nice deal, with 3 years warranty.

This is my first post so please be gental.

How to get it.

  1. visit www.msy.com.au to print out the price list, find this model, it's $64 when I downloaded it yesterday.
  2. Call your local MSY to confirm it's in stock, better to get an email confirmation also.
  3. Go to Office work ask for PM. They will check if this model is in stock and give you after get confirmed.

The OW I went, sales persons were quite nice, did not try to play around or deny their policy. They called MSY couple times but no one answered (that always happen), then they checked their website to confirm the price and even beat it down by 5%, that makes the deal $60.8.

I'm very happy with this price and OW's customer service.
Hope this info helpful.

  • Good post, but i would stay away from that router, i've heard bad things…
I'll give you a pos anyway just for putting in the effort.

    • It would help us to learn a bit about those "bad things".

  • I have been using this router for 3 years, although I cant say it is perfect but it is reasonably good. Unless you are doing very heavy P2P that it wont be able to handle. I am doing a fair bit of downloading and perhaps I only have to reset it once every 2 or 3 months.

I wasnt aware OW will price match with MSY. If they do, there could be quite interesting.

    • Yep, if OW could always match MSY, that would be awesome!
Happy to try out some day. Wish I could get an excellent customer service too!

  • not sure about gen2, but isnt it here:
    http://www.tigersdirect.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=…

i have this router at home and its passable, but i would prob prefer a netgear to stop the drop outs here and there

    • The postage charges at that site are a royal rip-off though.. makes it much dearer than original post..

The issue I have with officeworks is their price matching policy all depends on who's on duty, and how they feel that day. Once near my place never ever matches anything that is not advertised by a large retailer. I have never been able to get them to mauch any computer store price(MSY), let alone beat them. The person in charge of their IT section always makes up some BS excuse about how the small store hardware is grey market.

As for this device, I'm not sure what changes they made in Gen2, but the Gen1 units sucked. By this I mean constant dropouts from three users whom I knew bought them.

    • Then you should send off a complaint to head office [email protected], detailing the name of who you spoke with and when this occurred.

If that doesn't change the situation, lodge a complaint with the ACCC www.accc.gov.au for false and misleading advertising.

This is not the 1st price match complaint I have heard regarding Officeworks.

  • Is this good as Billion's high end models?

    • Billion's high end models are way better than this :)
it depends on what kind of high end models you're looking at.

      G / N?
      Ethernet / Giga port?
      2T2R or 2T3R ?

One of billion's high end models: Billion 7800N

      Hope this help :)

      • Yeah thought so, I was thinking of the 7400 series or above
        any way thank you.

  • First time posting :))

i've checked the model based on staticice price.
It's just $49.95 from Gizmomart for the same model of modem router.

as i browse through the net, i've got this:
    http://www.oozboom.com.au/product.php?id_product=99

it comes without modem, but the price is good.

    Cheers

    • The Gizmomart price is for customers signing up with TPG.

PS. OP, the word is "gentle".

Nice deal, since I recently sold a Gen1 G604T on Ebay for $40, and that's after 3 years use and 1 year of sitting in the cupboard. It did get it's fair share of drop-outs.

  • yep,I have been using the device for couple years, some dropouts from time to time, and need to be reset. But for this price I think it's fairly tolerable…

  • I've had Gen1 G604T for 4 years or more, and it's a bloody pain, i have to unplug it for a minute about every few weeks. Sometimes it's been a few times in a shorter period of time. Also, sometimes i have to unplug it a couple of times before it will work again.

I thought that Gen2 might not share these problems, but i think i'll stear clear.
