bought this sometime ago (similar price too i think)
    still going strong!

  • Do these go on a normal hose?

If I was to put them on could I safely just leave the tap on all the time?

My tap isn't in a convenient location.

    • +2

Yes they are a normal tap fitting, and they have a very good reputation.

    • Surely not yeah?

It's strong enough to simply leave the tap on all the time?

      • What happens if your hose springs a leak?

        • If your hose springs a leak and you would like to move the connections to a new hose, it's a simple process.

We provide instructions on how to do this as with your order, but in short, simply unscrew the yellow nut, use a small screwdriver to get the white split ring out of the way, then pour boiling water into the fitting to soften the hose, then pull. The hose should come out cleanly, but if you don't use the boiling water, there's a good chance you will break the stem off inside the hose rendering the connection useless.

We have customers who have had the same set of fittings for over 10 years and simply move the connections from hose to hose.

        • +1

Thanks, yes, we have Hoselink fittings that have we bought while they were still available in stores, and have moved with us several times. My comment/question was in response to the question of leaving the tap turned on, which you have subsequently addressed in your next post.

      • +2

Yes! You can leave these with the tap on and not have to worry about them blowing off.
That said, I once put them onto a cheapo hose and the hose itself popped (high pressure in this area).
So, if you plan to leave these under pressure, a decent hose is recommended (ours are awesome, but any decent hose should do).

  • +1

the Ned Kelly starter kits are great, I am not sure about this trigger nozzle kit, but no leaks so far!

    • Thanks for the positive feedback!
These new trigger nozzles are very similar to the ned kelly gun (all metal, very durable), but have a classic-styled twist nozzle which changes the strength and diameter of the spray for whatever task is at hand.

If you need a jet, twist the nozzle closed, if you need a softer fan, twist the nozzle open.

  • +1

    Hoselink stuff is very good

    • I'm glad to hear you think so.
      Thanks!

  • +2

Haven't had any leaks, however you need to keep the O-rings clean
Just remember if you buy this kit you'll need all the adapters fittings for your sprinklers etc

    • +1

You may use Hoselink with most sprinklers without an adapter, by simply unscrewing the existing "click-on" nub and then screwing our accessory connector in.

In some cases, as with a Gurney or Kartcher pressure washer, you will need to unscrew the existing click-on fitting from the cleaner and then screw one of our "Tap connectors" on.

The only time you require a "Click-on Adapter" (which we sell, but don't guarantee to never burst off) is if you are using a watering accessory with the click on moulded into the unit as one piece. Commonly this is for sea-sol or weed-n-feed or window washing solutions which come in bottles and click onto the end of your hose.

If you have sprinklers or watering accessories which you would like to use with Hoselink - no problem. Check to see if the click-on nub unscrews and consider purchasing extra accessory connectors from us for quick changes between accessories without leaks or fuss.

If you have any questions, please call our friendly, helpful staff at 1300 900 617 or email [email protected].

Any deals on Ned Kelly kit?

  • +2

Purchased it last time and would definitely recommend them.
Great locking mechanism, no leaks and very durable.

    • Did you get their hose too? Or any brand will be just as fine?

      • +2

I used the hose we already had without any dramas. The hose is unlikely to be of high quality but it doesn't seem to affect usability or performance much. Hoselink's own hoses would probably be much better.

I actually purchased mine from this deal. it was the ned kelly kit
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/123565

        • +1

Thanks jaydeenturk! I will probably wait for that deal to come by again (if possible), I'm in no hurry to get one.

        • +1

Thanks for the positive review and for answering questions on our behalf!

Yeah, our hoses are great (especially the no-kink which is unlike anything else on the market), but there's no reason to buy a new hose if you've got a decent one already.

    • I bought the big-head design a while back. I found the locking mechanism flimsy and annoying. Feels like it was added on after design. It kept locking when I didn't want it too due to the angle of the hosing. It's fallen off a few times. Maybe it's been updated since then. The trigger is also playing up, hose stays on when it isn't depressed the clutch point is out. The hose and connectors have been excellent though. The proprietary connection is slightly annoying to swap when I get the Gerni out.

      • +1

I just use one of these for my existing fittings, sprinklers, Gerni etc

        https://www.hoselink.com.au/buy/click-on-converter-set/2491

Never bursts off because I don't crank the hose to full power on the Gerni anyways, pretty much just a strong trickle. If putting the hose on full power to the Gerni, this will probably pop off just like any other clicky connector.

        • +2

Not sure on the Gerni's but on my Karcher i was able to remove the clicky-style adapter and have the Hoselink thread directly on.

        • Hellow, as Ahil mentioned, simply unscrew the click-on numb from your pressure washer and then replace it with one of our connectors (no adapter required). If it is a Karthcer or Gerni, it will be a "Tap Connector" you need, but it's best to check to see if after removing the click-on what thread you have (male or female).

I don't recommend using a click on adapter (or any click on connection for that matter) with a pressure washer, because the pressure washer reduces the flow of water which creates back pressure in the hose, which then causes the click on connections to leak or burst off. In addition, it can also cause air to be introduced into the hose which the pressure washer is not designed to deal with, reducing its lifespan.

Finally, if the hose blows off while using the pressure washer, you run the risk of burning it out. This is not an issue if you're close by and can quickly run back to switch it off, but if it happens when you're around the side of the car or on a ladder washing windows and it takes a few seconds to turn it off it can cause some real damage to the motor.

        • @Ahil:

          Exactly! Great advice!

      • Hey there, thanks for sharing your experience.

For your Gerni, simply unscrew the click-on nub prom your pressure washer and screw one of our tap connectors on (that is if it is a Gerni or Karcher brand pressure washer). This way you have the Hoselink connection directly on the gerni - without leaks or bursting off (which can seriously damage or reduce the life of pressure washers which are water cooled).

Regarding the locking latch, I believe they are more secure than before, but the design remains the same. Many people like the way it is set up because they can lock int and unlock it with one hand. There's a tradeoff between making it operable with one hand, or making it more like a switch that can be toggled with a definite on/off.

I'll bring this up with our product development manager and see if we can come up with a solution.

Thanks OP, i had a $10 credit with them so only paid $29.95 with delivery. Great product.

+1 bought these last time (over a year ago), have been solid and no problems/leaks at all. Highly recommend/10

  • Why do some Aussies have such an attraction with Ned Kelly? I don't get it.

  • +2

Anyone recommends some hose to go with these on their website? I'm totally new to gardening.

    • +10

paris or one of the kardashians

      • Would be good but not available on their website.

    • I would suggest the no-kink hose as it is pretty much kink-proof when it has water in it.

If you have any questions about finding the best set up for your ho,e, you may call us on 1300 900 617 or email us at [email protected].

      Thanks for your interest.

Needed tap connector anyway, so saves trip to Bunnings. Extra 5% off for registering and another 10% off code for next purchase.

    • can you explain?

  • +1

    these are good!

  • The Ned Kelly one has some 1900 reviews, this has 5. I assume this is simply newer, but I'm not sure of the actual difference. Does the Ned Kelly just have more spray settings? Also, how many already settings does this one have?

    • This is a new product which we just launched on the website, so it doesn't have many reviews as of yet.

Although given the crazy response to the offer, that will soon change!

The ned Kelly Spray gun is similar in it's body design (durable, all metal construction), but the front face allows you to switch between 7 distinct spray functions (shower, mist, jet, etc).

The Bush Ranger spray gun has a more traditional nozzle design where you twist the nozzle to change the radius and pressure of the spray. It goes from a wide fan, to a sharp jet.

      Hope this helps.

      • Any special discount for OzBargainers? :)

      • Would be great if there's a same deal with the Ned Kelly kit.

  • +2
    • Any hosereel specials planned?
    • Unfortunately, not at this time.

As we head into peak season, we'll have enough trouble keeping enough stock as it is.

That said, if there is a special, we will email our customer base, then post it here on OzB.

A 5% discount was offered to me for giving my email address when I hit view cart. I was given the option to apply the discount straight away, which I did. Before purchasing I checked my email and I'd been sent a 10% discount code, so I used that instead.

    • I've signed up to newsletter, and .. i haven't got any discount emails…

    • oh i got it… but it didn't let me use on this deal.

      • I added a click on adapter. Maybe that made a difference?

        • ah i'll try :) thanks

        • great! works :)

    • hmm tried adding the adapter and signed up to email, but no discount received… how long did the email take to come through?

  • Hey Rep, Any chance the hoselink timer can go back on sale at $29.95? :)

It was under the magic $30 free shipping threshold a few weeks back, which prevented me purchasing it.

I'm wanting to purchase in combination with this Hoselink - 2 Starter Sets deal.

    thanks

  • hmm tried adding the adapter and signed up to email, but no discount received… how long does it take the email to come through?

    • Mine took just a few minutes to come through just then mate.

      • I still haven't received any emails and I submitted early this afternoon and did 2 email addresses…

  • Anyone wanna go halvies on a set each?

  • +1

just apply the code "HAPPY10" to get 10% discount

  • SELLING A SET FOR $19. I only need one. I can deliver North Brisbane or we can trade in CBD during lunch. Send me a message. Thanks :)

  • very slow postage, ordered last friday, the tracking says only been picked up by fastway yesterday, still nothing today.

  • Are these really as good as the reviews that their products seem to get?

I am keen to purchase good quality triggers but I am sceptical about some of the reviews on the hoselink site. I mean honestly have 76 people felt that compelled to leave a review about a generic padlock to secure the hose reel? https://www.hoselink.com.au/buy/padlock/3340?pgnum=5

I am happy to pay for good quality I have wasted enough money over the years on cheaper trigger style products but want to make an informed decision.
