Hi all

I was looking around for a cheap 3Gb Ram Phone and bumped onto this, which suits me because it has 5" screen.

Specs looks descent and xda has alot of discussion regarding this model.

Elephone usually have crap phones and no support but have good specs. This model is one of the better models.

sure looks like a lot of phone for $133!

  • The image suggests that the GPU is 8 cores as well. I wonder how accurate this info is.

  • It says octo core so it must have 8 cores. Any idea how good rear camera is. And are those 4g bands good for optus and Vodafone.

    • That's not the pro only quad core.

  • +2

Shame about 2700mAh Battery but its not to bad with the MTK6753 that's supposed to use less power.

    Networks:
    2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
    3G: WCDMA 900/2100MHz
    4G: FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz

Bands all seem to be useful, of cause some people seem to want 700mhz

    • +1

Good for Optus and maybe Vodafone - not for Telstra (missing the 3G 850Mhz and 4G 700Mhz).
The battery at 2700mah is not bad - considering its a very vanilla phone. Only the Samsung/Sony/LG Bloatwares actually drain the battery. My THL T11 runs with this amount of capacity and can be used longer than my Note Edge.

  • Presell though. When will these ship?

  • +2

i have the p6000 and it's a good phone for the price. videos can lag a bit sometimes and battery isnt as good as it sounds (sometimes only a day, sometimes 2 days life) but the camera is pretty crappy and has a slow shutter speed. assume the same for pro?

Chinadroids are the future. Screw paying 6 times as much for a proper brand. I use the Asus Zenfone 2 currently. It is sort of halfway between an 'unknown'brand and big bane. No regrets. Next phone will be something exotic like the elephone.

    • Nah.. Apple and Samsung will continue to make their expensive stuff and will forever be around since there's too many elitists out there that will pay a lot of money for being "different". But in a logical sense - it captures the more logical people who are after the best value for money in this regard.

Got this phone from everbuying for $23US more about 3-4 months ago. Extremely happy with the phone. No issues so far. Did take forever to arrive though.

    • +1

      how is the camera?

      • Good for day time photos. Haven't worked out night time yet. I don't really take many so not the best person to ask. Mostly just use it for twitter and browsing.

Really cheap price / phone for the later 8 core MT6753 with 3GB RAM.
Support for future ROMs here: http://www.needrom.com/category/elephone/p6000-pro/
There isnt much on this list at the moment given its status of presell - the previous P6000 has a number of ROMs made for it on the same site.

Then again, in comparison to the latest phones such as the iPhone 6s, this price is literally 1/10 of the price and you can almost chuck it out every half a year for a new model and still be ahead.

    • -7

It's also 1/10 of a phone in terms of technolgy, screen, build and quality.

      • +2

        no, it's not.
even if you're very negative about the elephone, it's 1/2 as good.at 1/10 the price.

        • Are these phones only available online from China or does any one sell these retail. Would like to get a feel for the phone before buying

        • @Gavman:
unfortunately they don't have them at the shop.
price to pay for such a cheap price..

  • -1

The screen reso is pretty nasty

    • You are correct, but it is a 5inch phone so it is around 293PPI which should do the job. I have a 4.7" phone with 200PPI and it still usuable.

    • +2

In practical differences, you will have troubles differentiating 720p and 1080p on a 5" screen. Given its 293ppi and that "Retina" standard of Apple is 330ppi its not far off. What you get is a better battery life (high ppi/dpi is battery consuming) and better speeds as the CPU/GPU has less pixels to push.

  • Does this have unlimited memory?

    • Their official website says Micro SD slot up to 128gb memory.

    • Yes, yes it does…

  • I have been looking at a xiaomi redmi 2 (not note) for aud182, but this looks pretty decent, although lack of support in case something fails doesn't sound too good

    • +1

I am thinking of playing with it and see how their stock UI is, there are afew custom roms which i will also install and see how it performs. Unfortunately Elephone have a tendency to release a new phone every 3 months and drop any software support for their previous models.

Frankly it is a cheap phone with good specs so i am happy to replace it in 6 months to a year.

  • Apparently from their official website, the 3gb Pro model have a Samsung camera instead of the normal elephone and the 2gb Pro version which uses Omnivision. It says shipped in 11 days so properly here in 40 days

  • LG Screen and samsung camera …looks …pretty sick …

    • Low end Samsung camera, possibly crappy generic optic lens assembly and interpolation from a 8 megapixel sensor, don't be fooled by the branding.

      • +1

but still …… (stubborn mode) …

I have a problem, I ordered 2 and still got only discount for 1 ie $20. so should i cancel and order them individually? Any help pls.

  • Wondering when they are actually being send as this is a presell.

  • I wonder how many will confuse this phone to the non "Pro"

  • +1

seems to be 2GB model for $93.99 after $20USD coupon
    3GB model $117.99USD after $20USD coupon

    am I missing something?

    • Sorry they changed their price. It was the 3gb pro version for $93.99

  • 3GB model $117.99USD after $20USD coupon. Did we miss the deal, did price go up or was OP referring to the 2GB Model?

    • Sorry they changed their price. It was the 3gb pro version for $93.99

  • They have changed the details on the page there was not a 2GB option before. My order is also no longer showing in my account.

  • My order still shows 3gb Rom, obviously they have changed the price or it was a "price error" which they better honor from their end.

    • You see anything else in your research? Looking for a phone for a friend who just dropped their nexus 4 and cracked the digitiser, was about to pull the trigger on this.

They don't have huge needs but they do want a decent camera so I was hoping the 3gb version would at least have a decent camera, not sure about the 2gb which people have already said the camera isn't the best. Hard to find a China phone with decent camera in the lower end

  • What sort of a business are these guys running, i was checking with them if i need to cancel orders to apply the discount code again on both the phones that i ordered and i just now got an email saying they have cancelled my order!
I have dropped them a mail saying i never requested for an order cancellation but i will be staying away from them in future. In fact because of this experience i went ahead and ordered my chuwi hi8 from gearbest instead.

    • In fact because of this experience i went ahead and ordered my chuwi hi8 from gearbest instead.

      Good luck.

      • I agree Gear Best made up stories for about 3 weeks before finally cancelling order previously for me

    • despite repeated emails not to cancel i am yet to hear back.

  • Is the JD rep not active here? I have dropped him/her a message.

  • I think the rep saw the deal and decided to change the price since it got Ozb attention.

    • I think you should note the 'price error' or at least the changed to price in the title since people are now quoting this deal in other deals . the issue I see with that is that people could be holding out for a deal that actually never was

  • I have been informed that my order has been cancelled and not be reverted when I never asked for a cancellation in the first place. Disappointing to say the least.

  • At least you have received a reply. They have not replied to my emails or refunded my PAYPAL just deleted the order from my account.

  • I got in contact via there Facebook page. My order has been processed. There was a conflict with my account.

  • I have recently purchased a phone from JD, using the JD999 code, and receiving the US$20 discount.

So it may be worth checking out their website, and if you see a phone you like, trying the code.

If US$20, plus 60 days shipping is worth it, go for it.

  • So I got my refund through paypal and a new discount code from JD and I have ordered again on 24th with DHL shipping. Has anyone got their orders shipped yet from the original deal?

  • Mine is not shipped yet, JD starting to dissapoint me although they do reply to your queries

  • Emailed them (both JD, and the supplier, BJone) today - now 12 days after my order (and payment) on 16/9. Their terms are 11 days for "processing time".

No response so far. See what happens tomorrow, but I suspect a cancellation awaits.

    • any reply?

      • Nope. I have not cancelled yet, as there is a complication with the credit card used expiring at the end of last month.

        • Have finally received a polite response from a different email address @jd.

Say they have passed my (increasingly strident) queries on the the seller - BJone - with a request that they respond asap.

However, it is a golden holiday week in China (true), so may hear nothing back until after 7/10.

        • @jackspratt:

I have cancelled the order, i have email evidence of JD customer rep assuring me that the item i paid for will be sent out, unfortunately their merchant department refuses to send to me saying that they run out of stock and only have a 2gb version which is $24 USD cheaper. Never dealing with them again.
I check during that time and they did show the item in stock.

Very deceitful and dishonest from their end.

        • @dcnguyen82:

My latest (from the provider, BJone) as of Friday evening was that they have a black, 2GB model (ie not the Pro), which they will send to me.

I paid US$93 (free post), which I think is a pretty good price, so I am happy to give them a couple of more days to ship.

        • @jackspratt:
If you are happy go for it, they advertised the 3gb pro one for that price and i was assure they will send the 3gb…

        • @jackspratt: Word of warning. I'm dealing with BJone now with my K3 Note. It broke in the 1st month and they are refusing to honour the JD policy of refund. They are also extremely slow in responding. Has taken me 2 weeks of chasing to reach this point so far, after 2 requests from JD asking seller to respond to me.

        • @aaronbaron:

I received email notice today (from JD) that my P6000 has (finally ie 27 days after payment) been shipped - although the method was not stipulated. I have sent a folow-up email to JD to ask how it is being sent.

I was ready to cancel tonight, if dispatch had not been confirmed.

Hopefully they will have had an attack of guilty conscience, and sent it by courier - but I am not holding any great hopes.

        • @jackspratt: I didn't add the bit where they forgot to dispatch my phone! After waiting 3 weeks, my cousin who bought the same phone the day after me from the same seller received his. It was then I contacted the seller and for them to tell me they screwed up and will dispatch right away. No guilty conscience though. They sent it via the usual snail mail which took another 3 weeks. They did offer me USD5 discount after I blasted them in exchange for a good review. I refused the offer and gave them a negative review instead :)

  • I have received a message from they saying that the 3gb is out of stock and they can only send me the 2gb or else i can cancel order.

I told them i have screenshot of all correspondence and they agreed to send me a 3gb version. I requested a credit to my account of $30 for the difference because they jacked up their prices if they send me the 2gb.

I also told them that they either order the 3gb from merchant and send it to me or i will take all my screen shots and transactions to all forums(reddit, whirlpool, here, topbargain)to show how deceitful and dishonest they are after i trusted them to buy from them.

I will wait for their response.

  • Not dealing with jd again. Gearsbest might take ages but jd just took their spot in trying to send cheaper version even though they assured me they will send the right one.

  • Finally, 36 days after ordering and paying, I have been advised that the phone has been picked up, and is in the Singapore Post system.

Be interesting to see how long delivery takes.

I have also received a $5 voucher from JD - which is most unlikely to be used.

  • Just to wrap this up, my P6000 Pro 2GB arrived last Tuesday - 41 days after ordering, and I guess within their shipping guidelines.

After an initial hitch with maintaining the wifi connection, the phone is working fine, and I am more than happy with it.

  • I finally received my phone. They sent me the 2gb version not the 3gb I ordered.

There is an annoying shutter when scrolling in this phone.
