Sharp 40" LED Full HD TV for $1899 with Free Sharp 32” LCD TV, Valued at $1099 Via Redemption

490

I thought it was about time I gave back to everyone after scoring some great deals from you all. It's my first post so I hope it's ok.

Came across what I think was pretty good deal exclusively at Clive Peeters:

Sharp 40" LED HD TV (LC40LE700X) for $1899 (normally $2299) with free Sharp 32” LCD TV (LC32D33X), valued at $1099 via redemption.

There was an ad on the Sharp website about this on Sunday when I checked, but it has disappeared for some reason. The offer is definitely still on (until 17/01 I think) as I ended up buying the TV myself and filled out the redemption at:
http://www.clivepeeters.com.au/redemption/Sharp-40-LED-TV-bo…
As you'll see in the above link, there's NO delivery charge for the bonus 32" TV and after filling out the form it said I can expect the TV in late February.

They sales manager at the store mentioned there was originally 300 available nationally and about 220 left now. I think I'll end up selling the bonus TV meaning all up I'm only going to be out of pocket of about $1200 or less. For a LED TV, I think that’s great!

I even went to JB Hifi who could only offer go down to $2200 and that's without any bonus (Xbox offer has expired). I pretty sure this is also available at Rick Hart (WA).

Review of the TV: http://www.cnet.com.au/sharp-lc40le700x-339298321.htm

EDIT: One thing I should add is that this TV had a top energy rating of 6 stars!

  • Nice work jcrew,

Sounds like an impressive deal, the 32" i don't will be worth that, but nevertheless still a good deal.

  • Do you reckon you could sell the 32" for ~$900, and come out getting the 40" LED Full HD for $1000?

    • I’d be more be inclined to be on the conservative side and say $650 -$750

    • Maybe not so likely if Clive Peters is selling it for $788. (See post above which someone posted after your post)

    • You have to remember also that you can get 32" for as little as $500.

  • Considering it is only 1366 x 768 resolution, my initial response would be to say no, but i am not 100% sure.
You might find someone willing to pay that much, who knows - still a good deal though.

  • does the 32" promotion apply to all retailers or only selected ones? And does the promotiojn only apply to this TV?

    • As the post states, it is available at Clive Peeters and Rick Hart only and the promo is only for this TV as far as I'm aware. It's possible thought that it is also avaible with the LC40LB700X which is basically the same TV with an inbuilt blue-ray player.

  • $1400 for this tv is pretty awesome, since its RGB LED backlit and not those "fad" LED edgelit models.

CNET however noted a judder when watching 24P, which in my opinion isn't insignificant

    A++

  • Damn, just forked out $2400 for a Samsung LED.
Edit: Which is better, Samsung or Sharp?

    • My research tells me generally the Samsung has a great reputation for good TVs, but Sharp is not far behind at all. Like kimmik mentioned, this TV has RGB LED backlit and Samsung is LED edgelit which I think is inferior to RGB LED backlit.

    • Samsung is verygood and looks great but i will always go for sharp for many reasons .
sharp tv's come with 3 year warranty (standard), fast customer service, Panels made in Japan etc…
Sharp has an excellent reputation overseas(TOP OF THE RANGE), their products are excellent however they don't adverstise enough(in australia)so the consumers know about their products.
And i'd like to mention that sharp was the first who presented the Lcd Projection/Lcd Tv's Way before the Others.
      Cheers

Personally id go the Samsung. They have a long history of making excellent PC screens as well as Tvs.

32inch standard HD is going for $500 on eBay.

    • Sharp brand?

    • Sure, even JB Hifi and places like that, but the Sharp brand?

  • Does anybody know if it come with inbuilt hd tuner for digital tv. Or we would need too buy a setop box

    • +1

It sure does. I think you'll find most ner TVs these days will come with one.

      • thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Catch is we were after a bigger tv around 46 or 52. Not sure how much more will they be. Also, does anybody know on how does the sharp tv's compare with the samsumg leds.

  • Hey jcrew. Thanks for posting this deal. I just bought this for my parents as it turns out pretty suitable for our requirements. I just bought it online and also filled in the redemption form for the small tv.
So, do be careful that the small tv is not 1920 * 700. So, it worth more around $500. So, $1400 for this LED is still a pretty good price a primary tv.

Sharp is much bigger in Asia compared to Samsung. If I am not mistaken, the Sharp panel is made in Japan.

    • Samsung Electronics is actually the #1 electronics group in the world! (and hold somewhere around 50% of the entire LCD market, I believe)

Sharp is probably still right up there as far as LCD OEMs go, but I'm not sure whether they make 100% of their own panels anymore. A lot more (of all companies manufacturing) has been outsourced to Korea over the last year or so.

      • I bought it on Sunday and it says on the box that the LCD panel is manufactured in Japan although the TV is made in Malaysia.

    • That's correct(not all of them but , i'm sure about the 46" and up are made in Japan)

  • It's 1891$ @ Harvey and BingLee ;)

  • But you dont get the free 32 inch tv via redemption there. So, you can easily sell that for atleast $500.

not as good as the deal before christmas, exactly the same but $100 more for an Xbox 360 Elite with 4 games…still a fair deal though

    • +4

Thi deal is better as the TV is cheaper AND the bonus is worth more.
The 360 bonus was worth $749 RRP and could be sold for $400.
This ones worth $1099 RRP and can be sold for $500.

  • looks like a good deal

    • Hey J-Crew, thanks for that! Just came back from H-Norman after sealing the deal! They were more expensive than Clive Peters (who are not in Adelaide) but matched the price from your email. They also provide the 32" on the spot, not by redemption. Now the search is on for a surround sound system to complement the screen. Keep up the good work!
    • No problem Paklog. It's actually quite satisfying saving other people money. In your case you probably got a better deal as you've already got hold of the bonus. If you end of selling the 32", please let us know how much you got for it :)

  • hey paklog, i too live in adelaide…which harvey norman did u go to seal the deal? cheers mate!

  • That looks pretty good. What is their dead pixel policy?

    • Hi Dragon,

I went to Woodville - only 'cos it was the closest. They actually had a sign up counting down how many were left.

But there are a number of authorised Sharp Dealers around town, just look on the website.

    Good luck and keep cool!

  • make sure if you are buying to read the fine print. it could be the same as most other offers. if you buy in the name of a company the offer is void.
not saying it is but please read the fine print-these offers are for personal shoppers not business.

we lost a $1000 gift this way.

  • I have bought this on Sunday. I was thinking of buying a 46" Samsung LED TV before but this deal was just too good. Also bought the panasonic SC-BT207W BLU-RAY home theatre system for $999 and this includes a Quickflix DVD subscription worth $239. Hopefully good enough for this price.

    • That's a 12 month QuickFlix subscription i assume?

      Nice deal.

      • Yes

      • Hey Kanad, thanks for that. Where did you pick up the Panasonic - sounds a great deal!
      • Clive Peeters as well.
