Samsung 850 Evo 500GB SSD for $249.49 + $9.99 Postage @ Shopping Square

150

Hi guys,
Long time user, first post so any suggestions would be appreciated. Been looking around to upgrade my 256GB SSD for a little bit, so as my fellow ozbargainers would understand I want the best value for money (I know SSD and value for money dont make much sense). Anyway came across this deal, the cheapest I could find so I thought I'd share it with the ozb fam. Samsung Evos are really good SSDs, its not a Pro but the differences are not that big IMO. Anyway enjoy.

Nice first post OP. Thank you. Any idea if this is shipped locally, or from OS?

Just an observation… this same drive is $242 delivered from Amazon.

    • @tightarse
Just checked its shipped from overseas (8 to 15 working days), amazon deals better. Haven't pulled the trigger left myself, have about 20gb left on my hard drive so I know I'll need to make the transition sooner or later but waiting for the price to drop.

  • thats about stranded price

    https://www.greenboxit.com.au/cart.php?target=product&produc…

they have it for 259 and you can pickup

    • Their website doesn't show a pickup option. Postage seems to be $22+ except for NSW.

    • I would never buy from GreenBoxIT, either. Very dodgy.

    wat?

SSD / Performance / Value for money makes a flap load of sense :D

replaced my 5400rpm 1tb for a 256gb ssd. Running outta storage space, regrets NONE. The difference in performance is huge, but I meant when your comparing $ per GB for SSD and HDD.

need one but was hoping to get it under $200.

saw the thumbnail and thought "wow… 850 pro's are coming on special". wasnt til i read the link and saw it was an evo variant.

  • How about the 250Gb version deal for $100 or close too please!

    • Gumtree, bought my 256GB SSD for $80!

  • When I have more Cash I want to replace my Playstation hard drive with a 500GB SSD.

I already have a 256 GB version in my PC (which cost me a fair bit a while ago) but I feel the only thing letting my PS4 Down is the slow load speeds, Especially playing witcher 3 and cutscenes needing to load all the time…

    • PS4 is only SATA II (3 Gbps) which basically means you are using an SSD at half speed. You will still get some improvement for loading, but it wont be as profound as using an SSD in a PC. Not sure if you wanna spend the money for this upgrade…

      • Oh wow, that is disappointing :(

Cost cutting measure I guess but its a bit silly on Sony's part for putting in newer tech

    • You may find no difference with an SSD in your PS4 because the cutscene loads from the disc. Have a closer listen to the PS4 when the the cutscene is loading.
