  • I got mind last time, took 3 months and need to end up using a paper form. If you up are hassal for $150 you could try. After I am getting the shopping card I will no longer using this card. As the customer service is the hardest ever to deal with.

    • What's the shopping card?

    • +1

I couldn't agree more, the customer service was the worst I have ever dealt with. After a very lengthy process, they had decided to reject my application without any reason. I am fulltime employed and on top marginal tax rate for the last 3 financial years. There wasn't any explanation on the rejection. When I asked them to review my application to see if there was any admin errors somewhere, they literally said your application had been rejected, let's move on.

I had a very similar experience with the Jetstar Mastercard some years ago… Make you mad dunnit?!

        • +2

I almost thought it is just me. Jetstar Mastercard rejected me twice for no reason. Have to call a few times over 2 months, then suddently was told on the phone it won't be approved. Not interest to apply anymore.

        • @coprocessor8087: i think the jetstar card is run by citibank, who are rather fussy on particulars of your credit report

I am leaving a 12 month window with no credit enquiries before attempting for a citibank card

      • Qantas staff credit union rejected my car loan application of $45,000 saying we own two houses (we owned none back then) and don't earn enough combined to cover the repayments (combined we earned a tad below 200k net :|)

I literally laughed over the phone and asked them to give me the address for my property so I could move in. :P

Sometimes credit companies can be pretty amusing :P

  • i just got my $100 eGift card from the last deal yesterday. They were quite slow to process my application (took maybe a month?) but after my first purchase on the card it didnt' take long to get the gift card.

Note it's an eGift card not a physical one so they will email it to you.

  • Last time a bunch of people was rejected including myself (never rejected for a card before). Without any explanation. Try your luck and see how it goes.

Got my gift card quickly last time.
Felt bad when I closed the account - they tried to talk me out it.
Can I apply again and get another gift card ?

Can I apply again and get another gift card ?

This made me laugh. Will you feel bad when you close the second one?

      • -3

I didn't feel that bad - I figure Woolworths or Macquarie bank can afford this promotion
and maybe I am helping to keep poor filipino call centre and banking staff employed.
But I will give this one a miss - pushing my luck to go for a second one.

  • Really upset last promotion when i got rejected.

A good trick to fish for personal information?
With so many rejects I wonder if their priority is to sign up those most likely to spend up and create more income for them? Not so much based on your financial status maybe.

  • Would really love to know the criteria that determine the eligibility for this card. The real ones, not the published ones.

Woolworths use Dun & Bradstreet to do credit check, while Citibank use Veda. Depending on the quality of their internal data, they will give different credit reports.

  • my veda score is 483 below average but i havent applied for any new cards in over 6mths nor ever missed any payments. though i have many credit cards and 0% balance transferrs so i guess that doesnt help. i used have a woolies card went they first came out and issued by hsbc but cancelled it after a 1 year. i wonder what are my chances of getting approved for this one? if too risky probably not worth a hit on my credit file.

    • Definitely too risky
