15m Battle Rope $59 Plus Shipping (or Free Melbourne Pick-up)

100

I was looking for a cheap battle rope when I came across this deal. There are all kinds of different types of battle ropes, but generally for this length/width they start at around $100, which is why this is a great deal. This one is made from nylon so it shouldn't shed and should be fine to use indoors and outdoors. Shipping varies depending where you are so I didn't put it in the title, but it seems to be $10-$15. I ordered mine on Monday and have just received it today and it looks great (it looks like the third picture on that site, black with yellow bits).

Specifications:
15m length
13kg weight
38mm (1.5in) diameter
Hand grips
+ mine came with a protective strap which I assume you put in the middle where you anchor it to avoid damage to the rope.

    15m Battle Rope $59

    $3.93 for a metre of rope doesn't sound like a bargain…

    • Then I suggest you do some research on this specific type of rope. If you find a cheaper local source with the same specifications, please share it with the rest of us. :)

        do some research on this specific type of rope.

        I'm not a rope snob… I use whatever is cheapest.

          I can't tell if you're trolling or completely missing the point of what this is for. Shrug.

        • -1

          @axel32:

          the point of what this is for

          It's a rope that people like to swing up and down…

          @jv:
          And you realize the thickness/weight of the rope has to be such that it results in a good workout and that unless you're an ant a cheapo 5mm diameter rope from Bunnings just won't cut it?

    • +1

      But it comes with a hottie tugging on it.

    I found this exercise so taxing (& beneficial) when I lost 20kg+ (from 84 to 63kg).. definitely a great exercise.. and you only need to incorporate this in a routine for a few mins.. great for cardio, definitely high intensity tho..

    • Where do u tied the rope

      Does seem like ppl have much space indoors

      • If you're inside you need to have at least about 8m x 1m of space and be able to "anchor" it somewhere. I've read that a heavy kettlebell will do the trick, but haven't tried it yet.

        Or you can take it outside, anchor it around a small tree in the backyard or a park, etc.

        This was part of PT.. I did PT for 6 months (just twice a week) to get some motivation, and then I continued on my own.. They had a large room that had ropes all the way across it.. For those that are about to jump on "PT is a waste of time".. some people need motivation, so it was good for me to get a routine up and running with someone supporting me, & understand some simple concepts (yes its intuitive), but ensure good posture etc.. I am thinking this (or if I can find somewhere else) would be great just outside, around a swing etc and just start swinging away.. do that for 5 mins.. you will sweat baby sweat! :)

        • +1

          People on Ozbargain don't need a PT, unless there is a deal on.

        • +1

          PT is NOT a waste of time.

        • I used to cycle with a buddy at 6am. I knew that if I didn't haul my sorry arse out of bed he would be waiting in the cold at the corner for me.

        • @bradn:

          I knew that if I didn't haul my sorry arse out of bed he would be waiting in the cold at the corner for me

          And I reckon that provides an extra incentive to stay in the nice warm bed.

  • How do battle ropes compared to other forms off exercises like kettlebells, treadmill, weights etc..

  • -1
    • why?

      they seem to have same

      38mm diameter
      15m

      • looks like the same rope, just black tape instead of red at the ends. edit: and a buff dude instead of a chick holding it :P

      • Whoosh!

    I'm a little confused. Is this two ropes or one?

    • two or maybe just one really long one

      this photo looks like one

      http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt342/simon_elf/1288/BEN2…

    • It's one 15m rope. You just "anchor" the middle around something so it looks like two.

      • Thanks for the info. Are two of these necessary? I haven't got experience with them.

        • +1

          only need one rope.

          It 15m long and therefore splits into 2 x 7.5m.

  • The only problem with these ropes, is if u workout in front of your house
    or on the street, you might get some stares from the neighbours

    ===

    Would 9 to 10 meters be better length for indoors?

    They got a few on ebay, which might be more suitable for indoor usage..
