PS3 DualShockController (White) $49.95 Plus $7 Shipping - Sale Starts from 12pm Tomorrow

mod - As at the time of posting, while the poster refers to this as a sale, it is not a sale yet. The bargain requires 10 people to opt in for the deal to proceed.

That is not to say the deal will or will not go through. All the previous deals I've seen, which were posted when the deal was close to reaching the necessary quota, did go through. However, at this stage, this deal has 0 of 10 acceptances so things could turn out differently

So, just a warning, this is not definite at this stage

  • Kinda blown away by the $39 controller offer at KMart starting Thursday..

Edit.. that appears to be not genuine..

  • -1

this is not a bargain if it is 10.00 more expensive and white ?

    • The Kmart one isn't genuine.

Is this one definitely genuine? As in, it looks the same but could it be a knockoff?

(I've been burnt before with a 360 controller from Hong Kong)

      • i would say its more fake if thats possible :) as oppose to less fun

        http://www.morefun.com.au/Product.aspx?Cid=40&Id=403

      • Eh? whats not genuine about the kmart one?? they don't sell fakes do they?

        • +1

Not fakes ~ just not genuine sony. 3rd part controller

          • @blehgg: +1. The Kmart controller isn't manufactured by Sony and therefore is not of as high quality.

            • +1

@tomsco: It's silly to insinuate one way or the other that third party always = poor quality.

They're not genuine, but that's not to say they're garbage.

  • on this deal.. real?

    • Sure is :)

    • looks pretty real. controller and package looks the same as the legit ones… although I've never seen a white one.
I class this as a good deal.

      • You can get white ones from normal retail stores throughout Asia, maybe even America.

      • I got a white one from DealExtreme when PayPal had that $20 cashback promo late last year.

        • +2

Unfortunately, that doesn't really mean anything. DealExtreme are nefarious counterfeiters. They may not manufacture that counterfeit goods, but they definitely sell it.

          • +2

            @pais: Agreed

          • @pais: I haven't experienced any problems with my controller yet.

            http://www.sonystyle.com.hk/ss/product/ps_accy/cechzc2h_e.js…

            • @ExPrinceHairy: I'm not saying that your controller will have problems.

I'm alerting you (and other consumers) to a problem that everyone should be made aware of; that is, DealExtreme have been proven (many times with many products) to sell fake goods passing them off as authentic.

Is yours counterfeit? Who knows.. I don't have one of theirs and don't plan on purchasing from them - ever.

          • +1

@pais: Yes DealExtreme sell counterfeits but if an item says genuine or "Sony" in the title then it's real.

            • @bigosmallo: Incorrect. DealExtreme falsely advertise their products as genuine, as reported far and wide across the interwebs.

              • @pais: Link?

                  • +1

@pais: That's not evidence, that's just reams of links that amount to speculation. See here, evidence from Google that my cat is a dog:

                    http://www.google.com.au/search?q=%22my+cat+is+a+dog%22

                    Where is your evidence?

                    • @blitz: That is, by far, the stupidest comparison I've ever seen to support or invalidate a claim. Even by skimming the meta descriptions, you can see that none of these sites have but a shred of validity. Can we agree upon that?

I'll assume: yes. Can you accept that there is even the slightest of possibilities that the plethora of threads I linked to may have an ounce of credibility? I can accept that nobody has empirically proven one way or the other — I also hope you can accept that the Chinese are the best at cloning products in the world.

Someone on OzBargain bought this: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.18435… They reported that it was genuine, then went on to say that it was yellowing. I've owned a 360 since… about 6 months after it came out, and my genuine controller is not yellowing. Is this empirical evidence? No — perhaps they smoke, perhaps there's a certain other factor contributing to their controllers decay.

You are free to buy from whomever and wherever you like. I trade in China on a regular basis, so perhaps my skepticism is uncalled for — I'm very fussy about who I choose to do business with, and do my best to validate a company from half-way across the globe. It's a case of consumer discretion. If you're not as fussy, by all means, continue to buy from DX.

        • I also got one from DealExtreme, and it still appears to work, even though a certain firmware update was suppose to disable counterfeit controllers

  • Man white consoles are sold all over Asia and these white controllers look legit. I bought a white one from Singapore and have been looking for a second controller…might finally get one.

Only 10 ?! sorry not a bargain. Just wondering if any experienced buying a controller which looked too genuine but didnt feel like it and didnt even last more than 2 months. I wouldnt buy another except from a reputable dealer.

    • No there is not only 10 in total. The first 10 buyers get an extra $5 off the total price.. And they are real - http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Dualshock-Wireless-Control…

I've got a silver one and it's fantastic, the only difference between the original black controller that came with my ps3 is the colour.

      • They don't get an extra $5 off, they just get to use $5 of offerme credit, which i doubt nearly anyone has..

        • Also they need 10 people to opt in, for it to go ahead

  • +2

    The packaging doesnt mean anything.

There are plenty of fake PS3 controllers in normal looking packaging on eBay as well.

This could well be fake also.

Just buy them from proper dealers, like JB, EB etc.

  • Yeah,

You do have a point there…

    • True the one I bought had original packaging and had legit stickers and all however you can feel that its slightly lighter. Now I just cracked it open and I can confirm its a fake the internal parts are crap. As to "OfferMe" screening process I dont have much faith in them as there was this huge debate about whether the DVDs sold by Assorted Good are legit or not by investigating the region protection. And Assorted Good admitted on several occasions that they sold DVDs through OfferMe.

Note: I am not accusing both of being manipulative and/or confirm or deny the allegations. But what I am saying is that they dont investigate, do not know what to look for and/or dont have the time to crack things open :).

  • ermm i do believe this is not a real ps3 controller obviously -_-

  • Walk into Target and buy a genuine Dualshock 3 controller for $80 (sale ends 20th Jan 2010)!
No concerns that they might be fake then, and may save you money in the long run.

    • Sorry, I'm not walking 30km to Target

      • See if a local store will price match.

      • Fine, drive

    • target have any specials on xbox?

  • This deal is now successful as minimum quantity has been reached.

  • +1

Fifa10 PS3 from offerme would not work on ps3 au cos its usa and if u want a ps3 controller buy it @ game 68$ free delivery.

    • Your wrong Ignition, PS3's are region free so Fifa will work. Also why buy a controller at Game for $68 when you can get it for $57 here?

      Update:
Due to high demand, only the FIRST TWENTY (20) PS3 DualShock Controllers purchased will be sent out in Cool White. The controllers purchased after that will be sent out in randomly dispatched assorted colours including: standard black, electric blue, race-car red and sterling silver.

      • +1

Cause you can count on it being legit thanks ignition :).

        • Here the email I got from them yesterday after I asked if they were a 100% genuine sony product.

          "Thanks for your enquiry.
The PS3 controllers to be sold on OfferMe are 100% genuine SONY products.
          Regards,
          Morefun Team"

          Good enough for me!

          • @Joey4: I am not saying they arent but as I stated above its very difficult to spot a fake mine was identical to an original looks and packaging wise (stickers, text, plastic, etc.) and when I opened it the components were significantly different with cheap unbranded parts hence didnt last long. I guess the real question is, is $11 worth the risk? Many will say yes and probably I might have if I havent been stung before. Good luck to all.

  • For the XBox Wireless controller mentioned in the description above, it is useable for BOTH Xbox 360 AND Windows.

We've noticed that a few of the buyers on the FIFA 2010 deal were buyers on the PS3 controller.

    http://www.offerme.com.au/groupbuy/FIFA-2010-PS3-Game/309

@ $49.95 with $6.99 delivery or free pick-up in Sydney makes it a great bargain to go with the PS3 controller.
