    They shouldn't have bothered.

$3 off for the customer is nothing

$3 for them is a crazy amount seeing as how many orders they process.

    No ones that happy

    • +4

      It is actually $4.14AUD.

    • +1

3bucks off is pretty decent when you consider you can buy undies that target sell for 12 for less than a dollar.

    • How long does shipping take to get our items?

  • +1

    App wouldn't load after CAPTCHA

    • You probably missed out, try again on the hour exactly

  • Got one! Thanks

  • I buy a decent amount via pc but the app asks for so many permissions I am not trusting enough to install it.

    • -7

You should get an iDevice - Apple doesn't allow apps to completely take over the device like what happens on Android.

      • +7

You should get an android device to help you realise how ignorant and false that is.

      • +1

I can see what all apps are doing on my Android? A simple permission control app does the job nicely.

        • dont you then need to root the phone for that.

if not can you point me to that app.

        • @PVA:
My phone came with it (it's not rooted), just called "app permission"

      • yes they do, you are just not told about it.

  • ************** DO NOT USE ALIEXPRESS **************

    Recent experience.
    - Buy $230 IP Camera off seller with good rating, after he confirms he has stock.
    - Seller tells me he has no stock. Refuses to cancel transaction/refund, tries to force me to take inferior product instead. This goes on for a week.
    - AliExpress Support say seller having "challenges", or "maybe he does have stock soon" and despite screenshots and evidence do nothing.
    - Eventually seller says he will refund, but not via cancel order as he "gets punished". Instead he fake posts the item, gives me fake DHL tracking, and tells me to open dispute and he will refund. After another 7 days I can open dispute. He does as he promised, but now I have to wait another 20 days for refund to be processed by Ali. Evidence of all this and still AliExpress Support don't care.

In total 30-40 days without my money or camera.

AliExpress Support do NOTHING despite all evidence (Screenshots, chat logs, etc.) seller is dodgy. Every single move must be approved by the seller. Quite an extraordinarily poor system, very much setup to benefit the seller.

EDIT: If you must, DO NOT USE your own CreditCard! Buy a PREPAID. The same as the guy below, I also had my card defrauded a short time after using it on AliExpress. I definitely won't be using them again after both these experiences. Its NOT just the sellers, Ali helps the scammers and does its own scams too.

    • Thanks for the heads up. I've had similar problems with eBay. I really don't think either company gives a crap, so long as they get their cut. eBay seems to have no way of contacting them. Their "contact us" link just loads a page of pre-filled basic complaints with links to answers that are irrelevant to any serious issues, like the kind you've had with Alie Express.

I've processed 10+ returns on eBay/Paypal over the years, all very easy. This AliExpress one was a total nightmare, no comparison at all.

        • Thanks again. I still use eBay a lot, but I'll steer clear of AlieExpress.

I'm having a bad experience also. I placed an order 2 weeks ago and after a week the order was still processing with no sign of being shipped. Tried contacting the seller and with no response, so decided to cancel the order. After 3 more days the seller finally responds and asks why? 2 weeks in and that was the only time I've heard from him.

Now on the order it says "This order will be automatically cancelled if the supplier does not ship your order within:(about 2 days to go now). I'm hoping that goes through and end of story, but I'm thinking he may ship on the last minute and make life hell.

    • I had a pretty good experience with AliExpress recently, in that there was no issues getting a refund for a dodgy seller.

I also purchased a IP Camera, however I forgot about it for a few weeks, then AliExpress said the seller was suspicious.

about a week later refunded my money, I didn't have to do anything.

My only issue with AliExpress is being a eBay user, it is taking me a little bit to understand all the ratings, etc.

Not sure about the app, but I have used their website to order androids tablets once. The next month my Mastercard was used somewhere in Eastern Europe to recharge phone. The bank refunded the charges and sent me a new card. How is your experience shopping with Aliexpress ?

    • +3

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Aliexpress. I guess it comes down to the individual seller.

    • Yes - same!!! I've made 3 purchases. After the first my card was defrauded in a foreign country, the second sale was on a prepaid and went OK, and the third is the above story. Horrible horrible site, and I buy online heaps. Just use eBay or Banggood.

    • So for I have had no problems .
I will keep a check on my card transactions though, thanks for the heads up.

    • I ordered 3x camera lens-cleaning pens. A brush at one end, sponge at the other. About $1 each delivered. The sponges had been saturated with glue, which had of course by then dried. But they were useless. Seller tried to weazle his way out of it once. I'd already sent photos, but explained again, said items were not fit for purpose they were made - silence - but he granted refund.

Also ordered an 'egg cracker' - kind of like large plastic pliers. You put an egg in, it cracks and drops the egg contents and holds onto the shell. It was about $3.50, when most others were about $7 I think. I'd nearly forgotten about it. Logged in to see there were a few days left, requested a time extension, as sometimes stuff takes so long to get here. Seller contacted me, obviously lying the way it was written. i.e. Sorry, I sent it, but I can grant you refund if hasn't arrived, but if it arrives please send money again. Yeah right. Anyway, no item, but money back.

Just bought an Micro USB OTG adapter. About 30 cents - shipped! I felt guilty, so I looked through their store. But they didn't have anything else much. So I ordered one each of four different colours. Hasn't arrived yet.

Also considering buying a Micro USB to HDMI 4K converter, to play video from a smartphone on a TV. Over $30 online without shipping. But only $7 shipped from ali.

Aliexpress is basically similar (same) stuff as www.dx.com - but cheaper. I've ordered about three times from DX. They just shove anything and everything into a bubblepack bag - ruin boxes, crush display containers - like the plastic display case for some bath 'roses' (fake floating rose buds) which were actually mislabelled as rose-shaped soap on the site, etc. So may as well buy from aliexpress. That way if something gets ruined, and you do miss out on a refund, at least it cost less.

Just make sure you get someone with some stars, some decent numerical feedback (i.e. not "4"), and more than a couple of sales of the same item. And - don't allow them to store the credit card info. I read an article that the site has been cracking down on the bad sellers - kicking them off. Even if they come back, they've now got zero feedback - and when the price is a few cents more to get someone with 1000+ feedback - cheap insurance. SO… Sellers are far less likely to rip people off. (Sending 30 cent items shipped - they must be just about starving to death!)

On the subject of payment, I have a building society Visa debit card. I switch money into it online instantly, when I want to buy something from ebay, aliexpress, etc. At other times it's balance is $0. And if the money is not there, any transaction just gets denied. So no one can steal anything. And no yearly fee. Better than buying loaded Visa cards.

    • Ordered 150+ times, over 5 years or so. No problem with CC (28deg) or payments.

Originally Aliexpress had Paypal choice, but with so much shody business back then, (I read) Paypal services were withdrawn.
I used to refer to AE as Alibaba and the 40,000 thieves. Because it was that bad.
Nowadays with purchase protection (which I've used successfully), if you stick with basic common sense, it is generally the cheapest place on the web overall to buy cheap crap from CH.
Drawback is they often take ages to send, so 5 to 6 weeks is common for delivery. Oh, the Pain!

Hope that didn't hurt too much, just thought I'd add what I know.
