Hi All

Just wanted to revive this deal as i think its buried in 2 years worth of deals and we possibly have had so many new members since then, that many don't know about it.

You can shake the app every 10 hours for a deal - that's potentially 2 freebies a day. And best thing it does NOT require a purchase, just show them the prize on app and you get it :)

Screen shot of instructions thanks to TA

Download the app, check in via GPS at a HJ location and Shake the app. Every shake wins a prize.

Could you drive up to a HJs and use the app from your car?

    • +3

      Yep!

      • +1

        Excellent :D

        • +2

I did that very thing yesterday, using their free wifi. Got 1x fries. Then I tried another store on the way home out of interest, but it knows you've already done it once.

        • +3

@realfamilyman: Bring in three or four smart phones together with their app to boost your chance to get FREEBIES :)

    • -4

      Not legally but yes

      • +6

"Once the smartphone detects that a claimant is within the vicinity (e.g. approximately 1km) of an Australian outlet of the Promoter, their smartphone will be triggered to prompt them to select the check-in feature"

        Seems fine to me.

        • +2

          @ozy:

I don't mean while driving. I mean parking out the front of the store.

        • -3

@j4ck: well then yes, very capable of doing so as long as you have a way of connecting your smartphone to your hands within 1km of the store

        • @ozy:

If your engine is running, regardless if the car is moving or not, the police can catch you.

          That is what i think.

        • @fatice: very true hence my comment on it being illegal. Which due to the negs i assume people don't know is the case.
Your considered "driving" (incontrol of a vehicle) if your car is running, stationary or not.

        • +9

@ozy: If only there was some time while in the drive-thru where your car was stopped long enough to shake your phone.

        • +3

          @fatice:
I think in VIC only, that even if you just have the key inside the ignition(motor off) they can still fine you, for using your mobile.

Never though that a unturned key could endanger someone's life 'cough'wallet

        • @j4ck:

I don't mean while driving. I mean parking out the front of the store.

Unfortunately, if you are seated in the driver's seat, this will not prevent you getting an infringement notice from a zealous police Officer in NSW.

        • @ozy: ha tell that to the cops leaving the car running for air con whilst having lunch and on their phones

        • +6

          @ozy:

But a HJs carpark and drive-through aren't public roads.

        • @A3Australia: not true for qld. You must be parked (ie. Handbrake up and gear on P if auto) to be able to use your mobile, but this does not apply whilst stopping at the lights.

        • @fuzor: only if they're eating a bacon deluxe, it gives them the right to break the law they "uphold"

Sorry unkle T and A/M (relative cops) but you know what I mean!

I Park out front (It just happens to be near a couple of other fast food outlets) shake, check if the prize is worthwhile EG: discount or freebie win (except dishwater coffee), if not …visit competitor.

    • +3

True story - I live within a Km of a Hungry Jacks. I can shake whenever I want.

  • +4

Sigh Still top hit on the store page as a long-running deal

Sometimes you can win a stunner meal too!

    • no way, would love to win that !

      • +3

I take a screen shot sometimes of a good deal, and if the time is similar i'll show them that.
Never been asked to press redeem so it works!

        • +1

Can i have a screen shot of the stunner deal lol

        • @easternculture: lol never got that one!

        • +6

@easternculture: I have a screen shot stunner deal.

        • @monty.melb: i love you MM, i'll try it at 4:30

        • @monty.melb: I saw that once, but you can only redeem it when a friend downloads the app.

        • @madge: No, it just forces you to share the win with a friend on Facebook.

I've won it 3 times now but only managed to redeem it twice due to dodgy app. Once was on my way to the airport, good meal before a flight!

I travel past a hungry jacks on my way home from work so I usually check it daily.

I generally only redeem the free bacon deluxe or softserve cone. Although the $3 one was reasonable until pokitpal came along.

        • "Never been asked to press redeem…"

I was asked - on my first time use.

        • +2

Everyone is trained to check for a moving countdown at the top of the screen and to ask the customer to hit redeem.

        • +6

@McScotty: never been asked before in my experience.
Maybe you do your job, but the trainees i deal with, getting paid minimum wage, dont give a $h!t

        • +2

@ozy: My experience is that I used to not get checked that often when I used it last year but now, they click redeem without fail and this is across 5 different stores.

        • @beau travail: sucks to be in NSW then…
Maybe a clever app writer out there can make a picture displayer that has an active reedem button that when pressed goes to the you've reedemed page?
I know theres already a free app out there that HJ's made but, free for life is better than 2 for 1

        • @beau travail: She told me to click it. (And just from her confidence, I could tell she was no trainee.)

Really, I don't think they should be trained to touch our often several-hundred dollar phones. For a start, what if it tumbled out of our hand because it. Is HJ going to pay to replace it or a broken screen? I bet not! This aspect should be changed immediately.

        • @realfamilyman:

I never said we should touch your phone. I ask the customer to press redeem while showing me but the countdown is good enough for me.

        • @McScotty: Ok - never said you did say that though. I replied to beau travail. The lady where I went told me to click redeem. But when beau travail said they do it, it made me think they usually do.

    • +2

I got that too, long time ago.
but sadly wherever (sydney cbd) i go the staffs always press redeem on my mobile before giving me my order so i cant cheat using still picture.

    • +1

I used to get the free stunner once a week. Haven't got it for over 2 months so pretty sure they removed it.

  • Should be in the forums, this app is always free. Some people just want to post anything.

    • +6

My name is EC and im a postaholic . Im already at 1502 posts .. sigh .. i must have a serious problem

      your turn TA

      @ onetwothree

If every deal was in the forums, we'd all have a post count like yours… zero!

      • They tried 4 times, but all their posts have been deleted. :[

      • Are we taking about every single deal or has-always-been-free-old-deal-that-has-been-posted-before?

      • EC don't forum post show up on your count too?

        • Yes, forum posts still count as posts, funnily enough.

  • +1

I miss the free stunner meal

  • +3

    Thanks EC.
Used this 3 years ago for freebies. Didn't know it was still working.
But at 49MB I remember why I uninstalled it :-(

FakeGPS etc are handy apps ;-)

    • +4

Fake GPS are great to use. Shake from comfort of home. If u get freebie then drive to HJ for pickup.

      • +1

Within reason - it has a countdown timer. 20 minutes I think it was!?

  • +2

Pretty funny how they still price a frozen coke at $3.95

    • +4

A medium frozen coke is still $3.95, it's the large ones that are $1. :)

      • +1

Duo they also have a small frozen coke for $4.95

  • +14

On Tuesday, I bought the 2 for 1 chicken crunch burger, Claimed 1 free cheese burger via HJ survey from a receipt I found on the ground, and Redeemed a free bacon deluxe burger via the app. ALL for $4. It was enough for lunch, dinner and still had one burger left for the night

    • +3

Is this what OzBargainers have been reduced to - finding deals in the litter?

Maybe a short stay in rehab for your postaholic condition is in order ;-)

(I've just returned to OzBargain after rehab to control my commentaholic condition. Even had a username change to protect my identity. I am a poor failed patient.)

Damn, forgot to change the avatar. Removed. Forgot as it doesn't show on mobile site. Back into OzBargain Protection for me ;-)

Did 165 comments in that 1 deal. Sob:-( It nearly destroyed my life & those close to me. But I have seen the light! Yes, I admit it. I am a commentaholic.

          Welcome back anyhow!

        • @iratepirate:
Thanks. Just don't tell anyone ;-)

    • +1

Could've had an infinite ROI if you hadn't purchased the chicken burgers, shame! :P

    • -7

Only thing worse than a day full of HJ's is eating things you found on the ground.

      Classy.

      • +11

It was a reciept outside HJ (not a burger). Complete the 1 min survey and get a free cheese burger

I have no problem doing this, i have no shame, ozbargain has turned me into a shameless person lol

I have over 3K Coke rewards points from Coke wrappers that i take off empty bottles I find. That which equates to a $150 Voucher or 33 hoyts movie tickets (RRP value of ~ $700 at full price) whenever they offer the 95 points hoyts tickets

        • +7

          @pointless comment:

dude, i wash my hands before and after i eat. Being shameless doesnt mean your not clean.

I also have my little alcohol rub bottle with me all the time.

          Hobo status: Confirmed!

          j/k, <3 EC. :)

      • Well, i had the chicken crunch thing at HJ. Later that day a McChicken from McDonalds. Both rubbish, but the HJ one was better.

        • After hadn't gone there for years, I had that crunch thing too. 2 buns + 2 crunch combined & fed 2 bases to birds.
Way better than $7-8 paid for a Macca burger but I wonder if there was any real chicken in it :-)
          (9) Stick things are a rip off; cold and tasteless.

        • +1

@ro-bot: But they're real chicken breast! ;-) (Yeah, right - why turn chicken breast into reformed, regurgitated paste. There's more to that story. Probably 20% chicken breast, 40% reclaimed meat, and 40% filler.)

        • @realfamilyman: OK the pink slime. Thanks for reminding. Make me a lot less excited about 2for2 deal.

    • +1

How can you eat so little for lunch and dinner? Does a cheeseburger by itself really fill you up for lunch?

      • +1

the burgers are quite filling. Its also summer, so need to get that 6 pack back

        • +1

someone up above called you fat. fat people dont get full from 1-2 burger. thats like a snack

  • +6

Protip: you can hack the app to give you the best stuff every time. Google it

    • +1

Can you link me to one for Android? I've been looking and havent found anything :\

      • Hacks are not good

        • +4

          They're great!

        • +3

          Hungry Hacks?

      • The new version is way harder to hack

        • have you had any success?

        • +1

@chunky: unfortunately not :( the old version stored everything on the device, now its web based from what I understand

      • You could find any link on google or couldn't find method that works? There are lots on google but I havent tried

    • -4

      It is also illegal.

      • +10

Yep, prison time for duping HJs is always a worry

      • Haha, I seriously doubt you're going to get taken to court.

It is very very easy to spot a screenshot though.

    • all i could figure out to do was to change the UUID and clear the past check-ins.

how would you specifically choose from the range of prizes? from my limited understanding (could be completely wrong), you require a data connection which authenticates a unique claim code generated when you check in.
