Free 600ml Spring Water (for ING Direct / Coles MasterCard Customers) @ Coles Express

1200

The free coffee/water deal has been continually extended for a while now. They've now extended it again and separated the vouchers. As the previous deal post was made over 6 months ago and has expired I thought it'd be a good time for a new post. See original deal 1 deal 2 and comments within for more information.

The vouchers were previously combined (free spring water or free coffee), however you'll need to pick 1 or the other at the ATM now. Free coffee voucher Free spring water voucher. The spring water is usually $2.80 or so (currently on special for $1) and the coffee is usually $0.80 (long time promo price).

The usual deal details:

You'll receive a free coffee or free water voucher every time you do a balance enquiry or make a withdrawal at a Coles Express ATM. The machine will prompt you at the end to choose your voucher and print it out, you can use it then or keep it for next time. You can do either a balance enquiry ($1) or a cash withdrawal ($2.50) to receive the voucher. Whilst anyone can do this, only ING Direct customers and Coles MasterCard customers can do it without incurring a fee. ING Direct will refund your ATM fees for both of these ($1 & $2.50). You can also use your Coles Credit card to make a balance enquiry if you prefer which is fee free. If you have both then use the Coles MasterCard as it's quicker (no fee prompt/refund).

Reminder to receive free ATM fees you must deposit (but not keep) $1000 a month into your ING account:
"Every single ATM in Australia is FREE. Simply deposit $1,000 or more per month."

Update 8/10: Free coffee deal ended, free water deal still available and extended until 18/11

  • Does this include the new prepaid coles MasterCards?

    • +1

I wouldn't imagine they'd charge you to use a Coles Card to do a balance enquiry at a Coles ATM. However you will know if you are going to be charged as it will prompt and ask if you want to proceed (just exit out if it does), so no risk in trying it (let us know how you go if you do).

      • Will do

      • +1

I can confirm it works with reload able coles MasterCards (offcourse the one I got for free) and I must admit the coffee tastes slightly better when it's free :)

  • Thanks, I had forgot about this. They come up with some good freebies from time to time.

  • Drats….Cancelled my ING Orange accounts after their short useful shelf life.

The ING accounts are amazing. I'd have one even without the Coles Express deals.

Short useful shelf life? Continued 2% paywave and no ATM fees sound pretty good to me.

      • True…but the Citibank Signature option became more rewarding once the rebate dropped 60%.

      • +4

Only %2.5 on overseas withdraw, and only $2.5 for overseas atm compare with major banks charging %3 + $5. Im already in love with ING :)

        • +3

Citibank Plus is better for overseas ATM withdrawals. No fees charged by Citibank AU and a network of free ATMs overseas.

        • @sween64: Thanks for the info. I was thinking to get an account with Citibank especially for travelling in Asia where you can get discount at many places using their cards.

Or you can buy a newspaper and get a free small coffee. Good if you don't have a free ATM withdrawal card.

  • "You can do either a balance enquiry ($1) or a cash withdrawal ($2.50)"

Remember the days when banks used to pay us for the privilege of having our money…

    • +3

They do it is called interest. It always costs money to use the atm of another bank. If you make a withdrawal at an atm of your bank the obviously no fees will be charged.

      • +1

Yeah I know, though most normal accounts these days (that don't charge monthly account fees, or require minimum deposits) hardly pay interest (fractions of a percent if anything)

        • thats why i have found pairing up the orange everyday (OE) and savings maximiser (SM) is often a good idea, as it allows for idle money to earn the minute interest as opposed to nothing. also if you need funds, you can transfer back and forth between the OE and SM instantly.

For those without either of these cards - don't do the $1 balance enquiry as a small coffee is only 80c. A huge saving of 20% (20c hehe). Hey it all counts!

  • +1

I have used it few times using my ing debit card. But their coffee is absolute rubbish.

  • How many times can one do a withdrawal/balance enquiry before ING rings up and asks for an explanation?

    • +1

Haven't heard of anyone having ING call them about that. I've done balance transfer 6 or 7 times in a row (back when the deal was free chocolate bars) without issues.

      • Damn I missed out on the chocolate bars. I did a whole heap of balance enquiries though when the free $10 Optus SIM voucher was available.

      • I have had them call me when I was withdrawing $200 multiple times a day at Woolworths. But sounds like they are a bit more "forgiving" when it comes to ATM transactions.

  • I went to coles Express today hoping to get a 15% discount voucher for Telstra prepaid recharges, but alas it was not available from the 4 presented. So I got both the water and the coffee by doing a balance enquiry followed by a withdraw on my ING. :)
warning, the coffee is hit and miss, it was so bitter today!
P.S. does anyone know if the 15% off voucher still exists?

    • If you go to http://www.colesexpress.com.au the 4 current offers are listed on the right.

The last Telstra recharge offer expired on the 16th of September, however it was 1000 FlyBuys points (equivalent to $5 off) if you buy a $40 recharge or higher (it included $30 recharges in August I think but then changed back to $40+). I don't remember seeing the 15% off vouchers in the past year or so, the last post for 15% off on OzBargain was Aug 2013. If you are after a $40 or higher recharge though the 1000 FlyBuys offer might return next month as it was previously around most months.

    • Coffee was watery today.

  • I had latte from Coles express today but it tasted terrible… I noticed the machine puts milk first then coffee at last added hot water!

Thats just the little barista in there ripping you off!

  • Wow… they really went all-out with this deal :D

  • Free Coffee now gone. Only water now.
