Garmin Edge 500 Bundle, $209 Posted with a Discount Code (RRP $299) @ 99Bikes

wheelie

My old cycling comp died and was shopping for a new one. Did a bit of online research and have narrowed down to Garmin Edge 500 bundle.

It comes with
Heart rate monitor (premium soft strap)
Speed/cadence sensor
Bike mount
AC charger
USB cable

Looked around for the best price and 99bikes were the cheapest at $224 with free shipping. I hesitated for a moment and then a pop up appeared with $15 discount code for purchase over $150.
Bonus! Price comes down to $209 shipped.

Unit is available in 3 different colours: grey, blue or red.

Enjoy.

  • Any thoughts on this vs. the Magellan cyclo 505? I've already got a garmin speed/cadence sensor (came with the bike)

  • I think probably overpriced for Garmin 500

For anyone who wants a Magellan Cyclo 505 bundle (HRM and speed/cadence sensors), you can get it for $239 from 99 bikes. Please note that the 99 bikes description only mentions cadence, not speed.

I actually paid $0.50 more at pushys as their description explicitly states speed and cadence.

Should be the same item, but you can only go by the description provided, not by the images.
    YMMV.

    • Have you received it yet? How is the 505?

      • I only ordered on weekend, so not yet received, but very much looking forward to trying it out.
I saw mixed reviews online, and even though I am already invested in Garmin (Forerunner 410 with ANT+ sensors) - at this price the 505 was hard to look past.

      • Just updated firmware and maps etc, paired with my wahoo bluetooth TICKR and SC sensors, and wifi with iphone, too easy so far :)

This is the best deal I've seen so far…get on it!

      • Wow, too cheap. Bought, hoping to return the unopened Cyclo 500.
Plus 8% cashrewards, brings down to $201- is that right?

    • All gps units do speed cadence is optional

I have both the Garmin 500 and the Magellan 505. i bought the 505 on one of the deals a fortnight ago. The 505 is a much bigger and heavier unit if that is important to you, it does colour mapping whilst the Garmin 500 mostly just does stats and info whilst you ride. Both sync with Strava, the 505 can do it via wifi whilst the 500 needs to be cabled up to your PC. The 500 has a mode where you can use 'breadcrumbs' to try and navigate. itried it once but found it hard to use and not worth the effort. I havent used the mapping on the 505 yet but my aim is to use the 505 for rides where a map would be handy or for commuting etc and use the smaller lighter 500 for regular rides in the hills etc.
