    Surely this can't be legal.

    • Is it not a commercial holder fixed to the vehicle ?

      • +2

Yep, I guess it is. Craziness.

      • Worth the fine to find out?

        • +1

On what basis will you be fined?

        • @jv: Argue that one with the cop.

        • @xywolap:

Argue that one with the cop.

          Argue what with the cop?

What will they fine you for?

If the holder is not home made, and it is fixed to the vehicle, it is legal.

    • this item is pointless,

      what use will this have?

When you steer the the phone orientation would turn as well

Be sure to stick the 5km sign on your car if you're gonna use this.

  • +3

    Who cares about the speedometer?

  • +3

    Hope you like it!!!???

    ITS ILLEGAL

I would agree. But then you need to think about window phone mounts which are already in use. Then again this has you glancing down more where window mounts still allow you to keep your eyes on the road. I wouldnt want to gamble my licence over this one yet alone the saftey of myself and others..

Real cost is $302.75 after you factor in the police ticket.

    • +4

      $435.75 in Victoria!

      • Should be 3X that..

      • +1

        Minus 3 points

This had me curious about the regulation, for those that are interested here is the info for Victorians. Isn't very specific about where, just as long as it is fixed. The rest everyone should be aware of

    Fully Licensed in VICTORIA
Using a mobile phone while driving is prohibited, except to make or receive a phone call or to use its audio/music functions provided the phone:

    • is secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle, or

    • can be operated by the driver without touching any part of the phone, and the phone is not resting on any part of the driver's body.

Using a phone as a navigational device/GPS while driving is prohibited unless it is secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle. All other
functions (including video calls, texting and emailing) are prohibited.

Further research came across some information here: http://www.keepyoureyesontheroad.org.au/pages/Cradles-and-ha…

Law might not specify the particular position, but it seems that the use of cradles and enhanced safety was derived from cradles being positioned that they're in your periphery inline with road.

Decide what you think is a better defence In court.

Isn't very specific about where, just as long as it is fixed.

      That's what I found too… Can't see why it would be illegal…

    • +1

I like what it says on a Queensland Gov. website:
      Using your mobile phone safely
      - Turn off your mobile phone before you get in your car
      https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/safety/road-safety/mobile-p…

  • DONT BUY THIS

    Totally Stupid Design

    1. You can't charge your phone with it, I almost crashed my car by using this the first time… The charging cable stuck the steering wheel when I try to turn

    2. It probably only fits thin case, my phone case is those bulky one and need to take it off to put in

    3. The part that hold on the steering is too LARGE not adjustable. It's loosing and moving, it need to use some tissue paper to wrap the steering wheel to get thicker before install it

I got 1 that only been use for 2 days, and another brand new one… Im happy to sell for $1 AUD each if anyone want to try

    • +5

      As per OP. Its fashionable.

LOL at users who thought charging phone while using this would be a good idea

      • Fashionable?
        If you feel so…..

  • +1

Get it! Less gearbest supporters on the roads haha

  • Looks legally dodgy AF.

    I'll pass thanks.

  • Rotation lock on..

  • While not technically illegal, I assume the law was not written with this in mind… I'm sure if the legislators knew such a ridiculous phone cradle existed, they would be more specific and say that it cannot be on the steering wheel, etc.

Anyone who uses one of these is a danger to everyone on the road and should seriously consider taking public transport if having their phone in their face 24/7 is really necessary.

    • Think it's also technically illegal as it changes the steering plane. Why don't people take road safety seriously?

  • +2

you can also use this for the bicycle, just attach to handle bar.

My first thought was whether I should buy this for the mother-in-law. 😁

    • That should be the first to do list, this morning.

  • Bought one earlier but never used as it blocks speedometer view and also impact driving when turning. tried once and never used it after that.

  • is dumb, as mentioned by everyone else.

  • agree stupidest thing.

  • Hahahaha this is definitely a brilliant idea!

What a great business plan to invest in such product, imagine the amount of money and time spent to create mold, brand, box and sell this to the public!

I'm really proud to the maker and the inventor of this device! This is a second to none product!!

I would dare someone to use this during driving test

    all is written in sarcastic
