  • Okay so no treadmill run allowed.. sigh!!!

    • +4
      1. Put trailer on car, and load treadmill on trailer.
      2. Run on treadmill whilst someone drives the car 6 kms.
      3. ???
      4. Profit (or beer, in this case).
      • Spending that much effort and petrol to earn 6 pack of not-so-good beer is a "mooooo" point ;-)

  • +3

I'm training for a marathon so the chance to earn rewards while I was going to be running anyway is awesome

    • Not sure if the reward is going to help your training though

There is a problem with the URL when registering with an existing RunKeeper account.
I had to manually remove the additional http//runkeeper.com from the URL to get it to work.

    • same - at least it was an easy fix!

      • mine is still taking a while to load. anyone still having the issue after removing the extra runkeeper.com?

*edit nevermind, had to also remove the http as well.

  • +1

Wonder if it'll let me run laps around the athletic track across the road from me…

  • +4

Your run may be rejected for a number of reasons, including:
Our judges deemed your run to be false

How do they know for sure?! some people like running along bus routes for the lighting.
And just because they also make all the scheduled bus stops during the run, it doesn't necessarily prove anything.

  • +3

Ok done my run and submitted for judging. Now we wait.

    • Let us know how quickly you get approved.

      • +3

just received email that it was approved. one thing to be aware of is that my voucher expires on 30/09/15. So I assume it will be 7 days from approved date for anyone else. Also the name registered must match your name. It says they need to confirm your ID. Not sure if staff will follow through with this but be aware of using alias.

  • +1

Note these are only available from Liquorland, so if you don't have a store nearby (or you're in TAS), don't bother

    • +3

You could still run and post the unwanted vouchers here… :)

      • Slo20 above said registered name must match your ID….

        • It's just an email, so you can copy/paste whatever name you want. I'd even guess the barcodes are the same.

    • Tasmanians aren't eligible - see https://pureblondebeerrun.com/content/claim

Open only to Australian residents (excluding NT residents and Tasmania)

  • All the calories from the beer negates the benefit of running, isn't it?

    • Pretty sure this is part of Pure Blondes new marketing campaign of "healthy drinking". Theres lots of ads up lately of how its only half the calories of other alcoholic drinks. Its like diet beer.

      • Except most of the calories of beer comes from the alcohol itself. They must be comparing with something that's not beer..

        • yep, wine

        • They drop most of the carbs, the alcohol content isn't reduced. Still 4.6% like other mainstream full carb beers.

  • This works. Picked up my 6 pack yesterday… You can only redeem one 6 pack though.

  • +5

I literally just came back from a 9km run to this news!

  • +2

Genius promotion. Someone finally figured out how to couple fitness with beer! I would expect 90%+ entries to be fraudulent as I doubt many people could run 6km, but the promoters know this (and probably don't care).

    Beer helps you Lose Weight!*

    Beer, the Health Drink*

*when used in conjunction with stated offer

    • Considering you only need to 'run' at 12min/km, I think anyone can achieve this. I usually run at around 5:20min/km — 12 would be slightly faster than walking

  • too bad there's none Liquorland close to me ;/

  • Dammit why didnt you post this yesterday. I just ran 7km last night, now i have to go again this week! :(

  • Just got the voucher after doing the run a few hours ago. Thanks OP!

  • -1

My wife is learning to drive so drives really slowly at this stage which is equivalent to fast run. 😀

  • Yay! Was just about to go for a run this arvo when I saw this. Ended up running one of my fastest times! Thanks OP :D

Will this run take place in Vic?

  • +5

Will this run take place in Bali?

  • Just did my run and submitted it. First run I've done in 2015. Easier than expected! Only 6.2km though, I probably could have kept trotting along, although glad I didn't have to do 10km ;)

They should do a 24km for a slab promotion next ;)

    • they should do a further discount i.e. 18km = 24 beers.

  • What's to stop 'keen runners' (alcoholics) establishing multiple accounts and going back for more hydration?

    • Nothing. But at least they moved for 6km. Seriously though, given that liquorland are selling pure blonde 6 packs for $10 when you spend more than $60 at Coles, it isn't like it is really costly to get it.

  • +3

I just ran 6km in the rain for this damn voucher.

The GPS on my phone stopped working after 4km, so I hope they give it to me

    • +3

I also ran in the rain for a bit and I was thinking is this really worth it if it pelts down and I get sick from going for a run in the rain?

      • +1

You have got memorable experience as a minimum

      • Yeah, I started thinking that when the rain started coming down, but I was already 3.5km in so I wasn't giving up there!

I just got over a cold, so I figure I'm immune now. That's how it works right?

      • +1

Worst case scenario: you have a new drinking story.

    • :(

    • :((

    • +1

Jeez man just do the run, it's not that hard

      • +2

The average OzBargainer is obese, unfit and stingy.

  • Great first OP! I hope my really fast walk is accepted, it's pending approval.

    • Let us know how you went.

      • Got the voucher today 11:25am :)

        • +1

Thats enough motivation for me. Cheers

  • I completed my 6km 50m away from a BWS. That was a sign of confirmation

  • +4

aaaahhhhh nuts. did it in the wrong order, now gotta run another 6km. brilliant.

    • Damn, same

  • crap, i think i did it in the wrong order too, i saved my run but its not loading on the site. does this mean i gotta do this again??

  • Came for the jokes and wasn't disappointed.

  • Can someone who has completed this successfully please confirm the correct sequence. Do we need to register on the pureblondebeerrun.com website first, or do the run first (and track our run using Strava or other app)?

    • +3

Register, hook up to strava, run, click refresh and the run will be imported to the pureblonde website, then you submit it.

      • Thanks xelfer! Will try it today.

  • To help out those of you who like beer more than me, I won't bother participating. It's got nothing to do with me being lazy. I'm remaining on the couch just to help you out because I'm a nice person. ;-)

  • How you submit the run in Runkeeper?

  • Register wife and myself…
Straps phone to right arm…..and wife's phone to my left

    Worth a shot ;)

  • Aw, still pending. :(

  • I think this will be gone very soon seeing as its only 12 minute K's pace, I will go out tonight if still available then.

    • Says there's still 4847 6-packs left, but I'd imagine there's a backlog of unapproved runs from last night.

      • Yeah this promo has been around since 20th but you know what happens when things get Oz-bargained.

  • I know it says you must log your run within the app but anyone successfully claimed by logging a run in Strava using another GPS device and uploading through the website? Really don't want to take my phone on a run.

    • +1

Yup, I just used a GPX file uploaded to Strava.

  • Hi Guys,

Last night i signed up for the BeerRun and setup Runkeeper. I finished my run last night, but the website is not able to pull any recent runs. Ive ensured its logged into RunKeeper and that I did sign up for it before heading out. Anyone had this issue or similar? Feel like its likely their issue, since they didnt even have the redirect links setup correctly.

I had to do it through a browser on a computer as opposed to on my mobile devices to get it working properly. Hope this helps.

      • Yeh - ive tried a number of different browsers and devices (mobile and desktop) - no success so far :(

I looked into the request, it was returning an empty list of available runs. Ill probably end up having to go for another run, i signed up around 30-60minutes prior to it, thought that would be enough time

  • Still waiting for yesterday's run to be approved! I guess they have a lot to sort through

  • Funny that they can't sell this new Pure Blonde recipe so they've resorted to giving it away.

    • Did they change it?

  • Pity they can't go by my Garmin time. I don't run with my phone.

    • +3

cant you upload that onto strava?

  • Just received my voucher after submitting my run from this morning. The voucher doesn't have my name on it. Bit worried they won't accept it since they're meant to check your ID against your name. Anyone else had this problem?

    • Geez I submitted mine last night and still haven't got my code! I assume they email you right?

    • Just copy/paste into a word doc and add your name. We're talking about Liquorland staff, I'm sure it'll be fine.

      • -1

If it's the same voucher barcode I can see this being a problem for CUB.

    • Just got my voucher, doesn't have my name on it either, uh-oh.

Can anyone confirmed they redeemed the voucher without their name on it no worries?

      • Did my run this morning and received the email.

My voucher came with my name on it and the following:

        Register Process:
1.Verify the customer matches the name on the voucher.
        2.Scan product as normal.
3.Scan coupon barcode and enter $0 as the coupon price.
4.Finalise transaction as normal. Product will be $0.00.

        • That is great thanks. But I was asking for people who have vouchers with no name on it.

    • ID is only to check that you are 18+

  • Thanks OP. Got mine from a run submitted this morning at 9am. As others have stated the voucher is only good for 7 days.

  • Thanks for this. Hoping I got it done in time.

when I walk on escalators my sony app thinks i'm running, just need to find a shopping centre with heaps of escalators!,
works in hong kong which has one which is like 1 km long

    • +1

Doesn't the GPS signal usually struggle inside shopping centres?

  • -2

for anyone who really wants to hate themselves, you can 'edit' gps files at

    http://www.digitalepo.com

but I think I'd rather pay for real beer and not get free toilet water

pity you can't claim a 6 pack per 6km, my longest run would earn me 9 cases!

    • Do you have more than one device? Register two accounts, set your second device to record your second half of a run. Earn 12 beers instead of 6!

  • Free beer just for running. This is my kind of deal. Thank you bobidylan and thank you Ozbargain!

  • +1

did a 7.5k walk around lunch time, pace average was 10:23 min/km, tagged it as a 'run' in mapmywalk. submitted. got voucher within minutes. now drinking beers.

  • +2

Fk me… just ran 6.14km according to Garmin Connect and Strava chucked a wobbly and said I did 5.8km… no beer for me tonight… and apparently I ran across a river and back again without a bridge… so I'm pretty special :(

    • i found strava dodgy, i ran 6.1km and it said i only ran 5. lucky when i stopped strava, i only paused it, see if you can resume it and do the extra .2km :D
