This is the cheapest I have seen Royal Brunei flights - all other deals have been $1260 or more. Plenty of availability in Oct/Nov. There are also some great fares from Sydney and Brisbane on Qantas+Virgin Atlantic. Fly to Hong Kong on Qantas, and then on to London on VA. I have included some sample dates, but there are more (just click the links).

  • certainly cheap.
mght wanna warn everyone that they have 2 stops each way tho.
livable on way over maybe but when tired on way back the last thing you want is 8 hours stuck at the barebones brunei airport in the early morning waiting for a refuel / crew change.
worth paying a few hundred more for a 1 stop flight unless you are very tight on money or your time isnt worth much.

    • I preferred 2 stops.. being a bigger bloke, 7+8+8hr trips helped a lot, as going 2 stops would kill..

    • I've added this to the OP. The stopovers are not 8hrs (at least on the date that I checked)

Total travel time (both ways) 54 hrs 10mins. The fastest is 44hrs 40 mins Qatar Airways $1663. Qantas is $1900 for 45hr 45mins. Etihad is probably the best mix of speed vs cost at $1543 for 45hr 55mins.

  • Had a great return trip with them in May to London. Found stopovers an opportunity to walk and stretch my legs. Ample time for a good walk. Longest stopover was about 2 hours in Brunei on way home. Service fantastic and regular offerings of fruit juice and water. Food good in economy and excellent in business.
Seating 3 lots of 3 seats in each row in economy, spacious and Dreamliner has great lower pressurisation.

Had no jetlag on arrival in London but arriving home the internal time clock was really jetlagged despite sleeping about 9 hours on trip.
Brunei airport is being extended and refurbished but will not be a flash stopover like Singapore airport.

If you fly Royal Brunei to Bangkok then you need to check flight times carefully to ensure you do not have to stopover in Brunei as the night's accommodation will add to your cost. Their Bangkok fares are very reasonable and not much dearer than Jetstar by the time you add in all the extras. Both airlines fly Dreamliner which has better pressurisation.

They are usually first flight to arrive back in Melbourne in morning so Immigration and Customs are a breeze.

    • Acually, the Dreamliner has higher pressurisation.

    • used them in may/ june.
dubai stopover wasabout 2hrs plus disembarking/ boarding.
brunei stop was a longer plus a few hours of plane maintenance.
ok if u wanna walk and not round the plane but not if u wanna sleep thru.
depends on flite times i guess.

  • Hi Op,
can I PM you several flights (multi city) details that your site cannot handle
    thanks

  • Warning: Brunei has some extra restrictions at customs and other laws to be aware of.

I'd recommend getting up to date and ACCURATE information before heading off. (What I'm providing might be inaccurate; it's been a few years since I went there)

My info is a few years out of date, but I think some of it included:
    - declare all alcohol to customs (and possibly keep track of consumption / do not drink it while you are there and make sure no one else has access to it)
    - no religious publications (I think it was regardless of religion)
    - no rice and no salt

Also, I think they are transitioning their laws towards a more orthodox Muslim system, so it's advisable to know their customs.

Last I'd heard, Christmas ornaments could also get you put into jail.

  • Nice deal, always appreciate your flight deals.

Just wondering, What is the possibility to get some deal to London in the period early January? And I might be looking for a one way flight from Melbourne. I guess, you might not be able to offer anything at this moment, I just want to request your personal opinion and experience.

    Thanks :)

    • +1

      Hi Webtonmoy,

Unfortunately I don't have any experience to draw on - so I trawled through OZB deals to London over the last 12 months to see if any were for Jan. I didn't find any, so it doesn't look like Jan is usually discounted.

The next best option is to set a flight alert for the dates you want to travel. Once you set it we check daily to see if the price has dropped, and send you an email if it does.

      • Thanks for your reply, I already have an alert set :)

I thought January in Europe will not be a busy period :(

  • Yes Op,

think it was to difficult for your system to handle, entered various combinations, even just a departure and return it wasn't able to help.
sick of typing, so most likely give it a miss and go to TA

  • Unless it's been significantly redeveloped in the last 2 years, Brunei airport transfer terminal is a dump, so make sure you've got plenty of things to keep you occupied for your layover time.
