Get Backup Pro
Getting ready to move to El Capitan?

Don’t forget to make a clone of your Mac, to be safe when migrating to the new OS X.

Free Download Until September 30, 2015

New OS X El Capitan is full of breathtaking features. Don’t spoil your experience by losing some crucial data (photos, emails, documents, etc). Сreate a bootable clone of your disk with Get Backup Pro, and be able to always boot up your Mac with a previous state and access needed files.

Before you plunge in and install OS X, what happens if something goes horribly wrong with the new install? You might be able to roll things back with Time Machine, but Belight Software has an alternative.

Belight wants you to start using its three-pronged backup solution Get Backup Pro instead – and to tempt you into switching, it’s offering a free licence for the Pro version, worth $19.95 – but hurry, you’ve only got around 48 hours left to grab it!

Belight Get Backup exists in both freeware and Pro form, with Pro users getting some major upgrades on the core functionality offered in the free version. Both versions of Get Backup offers three different kinds of backup for your Mac: traditional files and folders, a full-blown cloning solution and the option of keeping two folders in sync.

For those about to upgrade to El Capitan, the clone function is likely to be of most use. The idea is that you press a spare hard drive into service, cloning your main hard drive onto that. Any existing data on the destination drive is wiped (this isn’t drive imaging, after all), but should something bad happen, you can simply boot from the cloned drive and be up and running again in minutes.

Get Backup Pro also allows you to take backups of individual files and folders, allowing you to create multiple backup jobs covering different parts of your system. A number of templates – including iTunes, iPhoto and Mail – help get key files and settings quickly added to your backup too.

The folder sync tool allows you to keep two folders in sync – and if you take advantage of Belight’s free Pro code offer, you’ll get two-way sync. Other reasons to grab that free code include support for encrypted backups, the ability to perform incremental backups to save drive space and an option allowing you to restore selected files and folders from your backup.

How do you take advantage of this free offer? Head over to this special Get Backup Pro landing page before 23.59PST on September 30th, then click the link to register your email address and receive your free code by email. Once you’ve installed Get Backup, just open the Get Backup Pro menu and choose Pro Registration… to enter your name and licence code to unlock the full version.

Even if you miss out on the Pro code offer, Belight Get Backup 2.6.1 is still available as a function-limited freeware download for Macs running OS X 10.6 or later.

    whats wrong with time machine?

  • What's the advantage over Carbon copy?

Back in the day, SuperDuper was considered superior to CCC, but CCC was free. I stopped using CCC when they wanted to (rightly so) charge for it. I didn’t realise it was so much more than SuperDuper is. This one, even at full price is a lot cheaper than CCC.

I can't say, but I am pretty glad I have CCC given my logic board just went down (again). If you don't have some kind of full cloning going on in your life going on, get on it.

      • Yup, I just cloned the crap outta my computer!

  • Could be handy with all of these SSD deals if you want to replace the hard drive in an older macbook pro. It is probably easier to do this by creating "a bootable clone of your disk" than installing OSX and then restoring from time machine.

  • Nice, an extra backup software for my mac.

I purchased syncovery in the past, but due to its complex and advance options (and I'm too lazy to configure), decided to use crashplan instead

  • Thanks. No harm in keeping an extra software.

  • Thanks… downloaded it but showing Get Backup 2 and not PRO. Not sure if it's the same. I've had activated the product code but still the same.

Under the Get Backup 2 Menu you choose "Pro Registration…", enter the license and it adds all of the Pro features:
      Pro versus Freeware

The email you get with the key says "Copy/paste the code below into a Pro Registration dialog to unlock Pro features in Get Backup."

Just thought I'd post in case anyone else was wandering the same thing.
