For those about to upgrade to El Capitan, the clone function is likely to be of most use. The idea is that you press a spare hard drive into service, cloning your main hard drive onto that. Any existing data on the destination drive is wiped (this isn’t drive imaging, after all), but should something bad happen, you can simply boot from the cloned drive and be up and running again in minutes.
Get Backup Pro also allows you to take backups of individual files and folders, allowing you to create multiple backup jobs covering different parts of your system. A number of templates – including iTunes, iPhoto and Mail – help get key files and settings quickly added to your backup too.
