    I haven't heard of a single, respectable and successful architecture firm, visualisation studio or engineering company that uses Turbocad.

    Even 3rd-rate stuff like MicroStation or ArchiCAD is more prominent.

    This might be okay for smaller players but without Autodesk or least SketchUp experience you're going to be quite lonely in the industry.

AutoCAD is obviously the market leader, at over $4000, which is why the feature sets below have been developed, for compatibility. Plenty of good firms use a variety of programs for different reasons. Everything has it's strength and weaknesses. That's why they use more than one. It's always easiest to see the biggest, Ford is bigger than Tesla, but they're not the same. Turbocad has developed over 20 years and sold over 3 million copies because those 3 million+ buyers found value, and use the product.

    If you're going to spend serious money on a CAD solution you're looking at AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
    If you're a tightarse you're better off using something like nanoCAD (for GUI-centric design) or OpenSCAD (for code-driven design).
    If you're a student or open to subscription models you can get industry leader software like AutoCAD for far less.

    Basically buying TurboCAD regardless of the discount would be like buying a Blackberry or Windows Phone.
