UPDATE:

Entire Quick Charge 2.0 range is now on sale here. The current deal on the 5 port works out to be $1 USD cheaper than the coupon on that page.

Back again with another QC deal as I have a few coupons left over.

This is a 5 Port USB Charger with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology that provides fast charging for any QC compatible device. With its VoltIQ technology it's able to detect the charging protocol used in your device to provide the fastest possible charge without the risk overheating, overcharging, short circuiting etc. The power cable that is included has an AU Plug so there is no need to worry about using a flimsy adapter.

Tests have shown that a 3300mAh battery can be charged from 0% to 60% in only 30 minutes with a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 enabled device. It's also backwards compatiable with Quick Charge 1.0 and is able to charge devices that do not support it. More information on Quick Charging can be found here.

Some of the Quick Charge 2.0 Compatible models include:

  • Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung GALAXY Note Edge
  • LG G4, LG G Flex2
  • HTC One M9, HTC One M8, HTC One mini
  • Sony Xperia Z3, Z4, Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet, Z4 Tablet
  • Google Nexus 6
  • Motorola Droid Turbo, Motorola Moto X
  • ASUS Zenfone 2 Series
  • Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4, Mi Note

And finally please check out Geekbuying's Coupon Zone which is updated every Tuesday night with exciting offers!

I purchased the previous version with a US plug. Is there anyway we can buy the AU plug so that we can replace the US plug for the AUS plug?

    • +1

Unfortunately there isn't, but the cable itself is fairly generic so you could pick up one on eBay with an extra 15% off ;)

      • Any chance you can make a Blitzwolf deal matching this ?

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/210691

        • Don't think GeekBuying stock the blitzwolf charger, but banggood have an email only deal at the moment. I don't have access to the email at the moment, so maybe someone else who gets banggood emails could share.

        • Geekbuying have Tronsmart equivalents that are exactly the same besides the branding, so it's possible, but unlikely as BG would have only made cents of profit out of each sale.

        • @Clear:

Do you have any deals for these

The blitzwf is $16.99usd and with 10% for using the app, its $15.30usd. But would much rather use GeekBuying given the choice. I about to buy one for my mum, who always ruins her batteries by plugging the wrong device into the wrong charger.

      • 15% is only applicable for purchase over $50.

        • I know. That's why you add it to your cart along with other stuff.

    • +1

Type 'figure 8 cable' into ebay you'll find it

      • +1

Oh thats easy (got plenty of those lying around at home). Thanks for the tip.

    • Yeah that's my issue with it too. Fantastic charger but sticks out so far once converted to AU, so much so I rarely use it :(

The in-car QC on the other hand gets used daily!

  • +1

Thanks clear for coming true to your word from the last deal :)

  • will this indicate fast charge alert on the note 4 like the original supplied fast charger?

    • +1

Only if you plug it into the one QC port

  • +1

Thanks Clear! Have been waiting for this one :)

  • can you do a deal on one with less ports and cables

    • I can do one on the cables, but not one on less ports at this stage.

Edit: 3 ports are on sale here.

      • No AU plug version for the 3 ports?

        • Nope. Only for 5 port.

  • +4

I bought one of these in the last deal. Be aware that it emits an annoying high-pitched whine and probably isn't suitable for use in a bedroom or quiet office.

    • Thanks for the heads up - I have a similar problem with a current charger of mine and I'd never buy another like it.

    • I got the Blitzwolf from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/210691

Received it during the week… Excellent quality and zero electrical noise. Even some dud cables I have that worked on and off now work great on my iphone… and almost half the price of this one..

Almost worth negging this one if it has issues and cost so much on top…

      • +1

That one is not QC2 enabled jv

      • The whine happens with a lot of chargers.

Besides the Blitzwolf isn't even the same product. It doesn't even have QC2 so it's not worth a neg.

        • +4

The whine is not good. It's in the transformer and is a sign of damaged/out of tolerance/cheap & nasty capacitor(s). Here's one such discussion - look for the term "piece of shit" for a good/detailed explanation.

          https://m.reddit.com/r/answers/comments/gqhv1/why_does_my_ph…

If you can hear the sound, it's terrible and worth a downvote. How a geek could say this is ok is beyond me.

          The QC comment is fair.

The out of tolerance is caused by sourcing marginal quality capacitors. There are certain brands you stick to for this very reason. It can easily result in an early failure of the device. There have been rare exceptions (ala Sony), but the majority of cases of whine are caused by cheap and nasty components.

        • @DeWalt: Sorry if you misunderstood. I know it's not good and it's obviously a faulty unit so I'll get Geekbuying to sort that out (as I'm not a geek).

    • +1

I got this one too, but no high pitch whine, mine is super quiet. Can only hear a tiny thing if you have it up your ear.

I love this charger, works great on all my devices, non of then with QC!

    • +1

On the occasions I used mine it was always next to my bed, no noise present on mine. Though I own the 3 port version not the 5.

      • I have the 3 port version next to my bed too and that's silent. The whine from the 5 port version can be heard clearly when sitting about 3m away though.

    • Your profile doesn't let me PM, but if you email [email protected] with your order number they can probably get it replaced for you. Be sure to mention that you got it from a "deal site" because you'll get better service then.

      • Thanks, I just sent them an email.

  • Looks like this charger is not compatible with Oppo R7 Plus?

Looks like no to me http://www.androidauthority.com/oppo-vooc-flash-charge-59693…

    • Oppo have their own charging standard called VOOC.

"Normally ships in 2 - 7 days.". Why its taking them that long? Are they dropshipping? I dont normally buy from anyshop that dont post their item within 24hours and at this price i will pass.

    • +1

Due to their size and the number of orders they have to fulfill each day, it can be hard to ship within 24 hours. You have to remember that these guys ship worldwide and get far more orders than a local Aussie company like PC Case Gear would that are able to ship within 24 hours.

You'll find that this is the case with the larger competitors that employ hundreds like DX.

        Go read more about amazon.

        • +9

If you're seriously comparing a company with <100 employees to a company with ~180,000 that uses robots in their factories then I'm not going to waste my time.

        • @Clear:

Has anyone seen the BBC panorama about workers in Amazons warehouses.

  • +1

The car charger I got from one of these deals has been great. I don't use QC, I just use the 2.4A port but it charges quickly, faster than the screen on full brightness with GPS can drain it, and it doesn't generate a lot of heat or glitch out which every other car charger I've tried had (all cheaper brands but not much cheaper).

  • What do you call that type of power cable?

Want to get a Japanese plug for my trip to JP.

    • figure 8 cable

    • Japanese plug is the same as US (two straight pins).

  • +1

Just found out that the entire Quick Charge 2.0 range is on sale. Had I known I would have had that as the deal. This deal still works out to be $1 cheaper than below.

Can the QC port charge non QC enabled devices normally? iPads?

Also, any recommended USB 3.0 hubs?

    • It's also backwards compatiable with Quick Charge 1.0 and is able to charge devices that do not support it. More information on Quick Charging can be found here(androidauthority.com).

      • Thanks. That's not just for the 4 non QC2 enabled ports though, right?

        • +1

All ports including the QC can charge non-QC devices.

        • @Clear:

          Cool, thanks!

  • This is what I was waiting for. Yay!

  • Note: 1 port is QC the other 4 ports are non QC but charges at 2+amps except when the 4 ports are fully utilised… than one of the ports charges at just over 1 amp. The QC port still charges at full rate depending on device.

Oh and it comes with a USB cable too and cable velcro wrap.

  • +1

The 5 port tronsmart QC2.0 charger is cheaper here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262033926774?_trksid=p2060353.m14…

(after taking into account the eBay 15% off sale) - any chance of a sharper pencil, OP?

(as for US vs AU plug, just heat up the US plug with a heat gun then bend the pins with a pair of long nose pliers - been doing this for years with US plugs).

    • +1

Unfortunately Geekbuying won't let it be lowered any further. I don't have the negotiation skills like tightarse has.

  • Is this legal for sale for use in AU?

    • If I'm not mistaken it's illegal for businesses to sell devices that don't meet Australian standards within Australia and Geekbuying is in China.

These won't completely meet Australian standards, but as it's from a reputable brand it's probably safer to use than the no-name generics.

  • Maybe a stupid question as I don't remember my high school physics lessons, but if you're charging multiple devices do they receive 'less charge' and charge slower?

Also my Chuwi HI8 tablet seems to complain about some of my chargers being too low a current (I just use all my micro usb chargers interchangeably and never had a problem before the tablet), will I have that issue with this?

    • Assuming you're not charging a QC2.0 device:

The charger is 40 watts. Watts is Voltage x Current, with USB working at 5 volts your devices can draw 8 amps.

A phone will charge pretty quickly at 2 amps. So you could charge 4 phones close to as fast as they can consume without experiencing a slow down. When split across 5 devices, you might get 1.6 amps per device, or it might have some other kind of load balancing mechanism. I've never used more than 4 simultaneously on mine so I'm not certain what happens in that scenario.

  • Can't seem to make payment on GeekBuying today… just getting the following error back from the site at the moment:

"We're sorry, but we can't send your payment right now
    - Return to merchant and try a different payment method
    - Unfortunately, we're unable to process your payment using your PayPal account at this time. Please return to the merchant's website and try using a different payment method (if available)."

Never had an issue until today…

I'm not sure if it's related but I know Paypal was due to update their certificate to SHA-256 today and if GeekBuying is using the Paypal IPN product (Instant Payment Notification) it's possible they need to get some updates done on their site perhaps?

    • If it's due to the Paypal updated, the following document might be of use to GeekBuying:

      https://www.paypal-knowledge.com/infocenter/index?page=conte…

      • +1

        Thanks, I'll pass it on.

        • Thanks Clear, I just tried to re-pay again last night and this morning and still not able to make payment on the orders.

        • @Jonc: Try the Live Chat in the top right corner of Geekbuying. They should be able to help out as other people have successfully paid.

Edit: Also if you have multiple cards attached to your Paypal, check that. I do know that on some sites Paypal can default to an old payment method no longer in use.

        • @Clear:

Done, all apparently ok from Geek's side at the moment and was told to call Paypal..

I told them I've purchased items with my account from both the UK and Australia yesterday on the same card and it's been 100% fine it's just this transaction that is not working currently….

Paypal said they have flagged the transaction with GeekBuying as a risk for some reason.

Paypal systems will automatically review risk and I can try again at a later time to see if it will work.

Paypal also reported I can request an invoice from GeekBuying but their support teams have no idea how to do it so I'm going to have to cancel the 2 orders in place… pitty… might try again in a few days but will see how we go.

Very strange, never had this issue with Paypal before..

  • Annoying that if you want to get the discount on both the QC Car Charger and 3/5 Port Wall Charger they need to go through in separate transactions. Having both in the same transaction makes TNT shipping much cheaper.

  • I prefer the xiaomi power strip that you recommended in one of your previous deals. The coupon code "FOODMI" for the power strip no longer works though =( Any chance you can get us a new code? Would really love to pickup a few more of these. They are EXCELLENT!!

    • Geekbuying is going to have a Philips one in stock soon, so I've been holding out for that. I'll get an ETA on that, but I can still organise as coupon for the XiaoMi.

      • So the Philips one would be even better than the Xiaomi power strip? wow, I was already blown away by the safety features and performance of the Xiaomi power strip. Is it already available on the market? Any chance you can link it here? (doesn't have to be from the Geekbuying website). I just wanna see if it's worth waiting for. I tried looking up the official Philips website, but can't find anything that looks new, just plain old looking power boards.

        • With Philips being a more well known brand and operating in Australia I'd assume it to better and safer. I was shown an image of it in Chinese by Geekbuying's staff, but I haven't been able to find it. I'll have to ask them about it.

  • Seems the deal is expired.
