My advice would be to see your dermatologist before rushing off to buy something like this.

i completly agree, dont bother spending money on over the counter treatments, when a professional can look at your skin and tell you if its normal or not.

I thought it was "thermonuclear" for a second! That's one way to clear pimples! ;-)

    • We will need a nuclear scientist in that case lol.

    • I too thought the same thing haha

This is borderline spam. No deal.

    • -1

I would love to know how you got to that conclusion rather than throw those allegations. If its a spam I would most certainly love to take this down so please share.

It's not clear that you even think it's a bargain.
You've also asserted you don't know if it works.
So it's not clear why you are putting this advert here in what is supposed to be the bargains section.

I'll leave this here for now as it seems to be raising some interesting discussions, but we may unpublish it later.

        • Ofcourse I am not here to judge products, I thought posting deals its what Ozbargin is all about. I am not here to promote products thats a sales rep. job not mine and I try to be objective rather than subjective so that ppl do their own research.

The product sells usually for $200 plus delivery at the shavershop http://www.shavershop.com.au/products/acne-treatment/acne-de… hence a 40 bucks off plus free delivery is a decent discount.

I may not like products etc on here but I wouldnt simply vote them out cause I dont like them. Its better to stick to Ps3, Xbox and books if that was the case and others may or may not. However, I would certainly vote them if the discount was insignificant.

Anyhow, feel free to take this down as obviously no one who read this is interested. Others who may be looking at something like this can do their research (many reviews are out there).

          PS:
The only and most effective cure for acne is Isotretinoin orally taken known as Accutane, Roaccutane, etc. prescribed through a dermatologist not even a GP can prescribe this. A GP can prescribe minocycline for less severe cases which is an antibiotic. This product IS NOT a silver bullet neither anything you buy over the counter for severe and cystic cases.

  • Don't bother, a link on their page points to a review on Readersdigest, here's what that review says:
    7. Electronic zit zappers
If a last-minute pimple threatens your big event, an electronic zit zapper could save the day. New to our shores but popular in the United States, these hand-held gadgets banish blemishes by transmitting heat directly into the follicle. “Theoretically, heat is used to treat some infections,” says Dr Belinda Welsh, although she adds that there is little evidence to support the effectiveness of these devices.

    Advantages: Novelty, convenient.
Disadvantages: Benefits are inconclusive; sensation may take some getting used to.
    Product examples: ThermaClear, $199.95.

  • To be fair one review from one source is not good enough to judge a product and ofcourse no one should expect it to be a one stop shop here are various reviews:

Its FDA approved and clinically proven to work with limitations and exceptions as you will see from the reviews. To each his own at the end.

    Seriously!!! use soap

    1. Wash your hands after you poo, wee, touch a dog, eat food etc etc … you get the idea. Make sure you DO NOT touch your face after you do any of this.

    2. Exfoliate your face every day with a good exfoliating scrub. Biore makes a good one. It's green and you can buy it at Big W etc.

    3. Your exfoliating scrub should have Salicylic Acid or Benzyl Benzyl Peroxide in it. Different ones work for different people, give each one a chance. I think Benzyl is more potent. The guy on acne.com swears by something called "The Regimen" where he uses Benzyl every day, wipes his face in a certain way, uses moisturizer in a certain way etc etc, look it up.

    4. Stick at it. Expect not to see any improvements for 6+ weeks, just do it every day and not think about it, eventually the results will come.

If all else fails go see a dermatologist / gp… dont buy unproven fad acne products.

mod - replaced a word with "unproven"; reason: language

My problem with these types of products is the before and after photos have no meaning to me. I can use photoshop too.

Also there is no proof they even work. And who determines that it is a true $40 saving? Like who says it's worth $200 in the first place for a burst of concentrated heat. Wow technological breakthrough right there.

And lastly… like that girl on the homepage holding this thing to her face had a skin problem. And if she did, the ample professional makeup she is wearing covered it up anyway.

It just screams gimmick to me.

  • The thermaclear is not only FDA approved, its also registered with the TGA here in Australia. It is a genuine medical product that does clear mild to moderate acne. Works well for these pimples…..even ones with pus, but not meant for whiteheads (these are too old already to do muck about), blackheads (whiteheads with dirt in them) or polycystic acne.

If it's a medical product then it can be recommended by a dermatologist.

Medical conditions require consultation with medical professionals.

      • On their website there are several USA dermatologists who do recommend it.

        • -1

No, the recommendation should come from an indvidual's OWN medical practitioner.

          • -1

@YesPleaseThankYou: OK in an ideal world but this is a bit of a fallacious argument since this is a popular over the counter device in the USA.

People don't go to their own medical practitioner every time before they buy most of the acne creams available at supermarkets or pharmacies.

Same applies to the thermaclear and its costs a lot less than what most people spend on creams.

            • @bloemsamantha: This is not an "acne cream".

Unsupervised treatments can cause serious damage.

Anyone with a skin condition should see their pharmacist, GP or dermatologist.

Just because something is popular in a America doesn't mean that popularity means anything here. Guns are also popular in America.

            • @bloemsamantha: One more thing, I note that you have only been a member here for 1 day but have taken a KEEN interest in this product. Any special reason for this?
