  • Now remember from last time…. the orange circle means that it's out of stock and more stock should be arriving in 1-3 weeks.

  • +1

Yeh last time more stock arriving we where all told the same thing and no stock, bait advertising at its best no hp for me not getting bitten again

    • Funny that ACCC etc did nothing about it too. It was a genuine mistake after all.

      • That sentence doesn't make sense?

        • People who saw the last deal would understand.

After HP said that their overseas warehouses no longer stock the Slatebook 14 and the factory no longer produces it, people flipped out and said how they're reporting HP to the ACCC and Fair Trading. Unfortunately for them, nothing happened as HP never listed it as in stock and there was no bait advertising.

        • @Clear: yeah I got that but why is it funny that the ACCC etc. did nothing (if it was a genuine mistake)?

        • @ory_zm: Bad wording sorry. People being their typical self on Ozbargain and blowing it all up when something goes wrong.

      • Funny also how when threatened with being taken to fair trading HP gave me 2 laptops that sell in Jb for $500 each because they screwed me around.

BTW the advice from FT NSW was that we were screwed around royally, and they should be coming good on it (which in the end they did).

Also note that the ACCC was already on their back, as evidence by the warning they have to have up on their site (which is evidently still up there).

So what was that about nothing happening?

        • Well FT NSW must be taking their time because nothing yet.

        • @Clear: nothing yet? What are you expecting? They have resolved the issues with all users that I am aware of who raised issues so there is nothing left to do.

        • @Jackson: HP wasn't even warned and there were no fines.

        • @Clear: That's called the system working. Why would the ACCC or FT look into it unless there were unresolved complaints? The bottom line is that some people gave up early, some took an inferior product (albeit still an ok deal for the money, the chromebook) and some held out for an equivalent (relatively, although very different) product. If more people took the latter course of action then HP would have come good on a lot more stock or otherwise have had to face further action. That's just the system working. Meanwhile there were plenty of people wrongfully calling hard done by consumers whingers etc which is just wrong, but I am sure turned lots of people off

        • @Jackson: My point is that a lot over people overreacted and the ACCC/FT never reached out to HP about it.

        • @Clear: well that's patently incorrect, because the people that "overreacted" are most likely to be the ones that got 500 rep units for their 170 bucks. HP did the right thing in the end and came good on it, so of course there's no follow up, that's the system
