  • Thanks, no store near me stocks these and I've wanted one for awhile. Got two but only really got free postage as they charge shipping on both :(

    • That's a pity. They are worth every cent though. Cold water on a hot day is a lifesaver :)

      • +3

Making a good investment then :)
If they arrive in the same package, I'll be leaving negative feedback.

        • Yeah that's fair enough. All camelbak bottles are a good investment imo. Well made and long lasting :)

      • Cold water on a hot day can be bad for your internals.

    • +1

just added 2 to cart and it only shows $7.95 total postage..

      • Were they the same type?
        I got two different ones.

        • +1

yeah same type, but i'll draw dicks on one of them so i know which is which.

  • +1

    Love these bottles, thanks OP

    • Haha me too, they are such a good size. Thinking I might get a few more, would make great Xmas presents for cycling mates!

  • +1

    Heaps near CBD Sydney.
    Gonna give it a try.

    • Yep definitely worth a try! The hard part is choosing a colour :)

  • +20

forgive me for being a noob, but whats so good about it? its just a water bottle isnt it? or does it manage to keep things colder for extended duration's?

    • +4

Copied and paste from their description page.

Double-wall construction keeps water cold twice as long as regular sport bottles
Innovative, self-sealing Jet Valve(TM), eliminates splatters and spills
Lightweight, easy-squeeze bottle delivers the right flow to quench your thirst
100% Free of BPA and BPS
TruTaste(TM), polypropylene with HydroGuard(TM), lets you taste your water, not your bottle
      Removable nozzle for easy cleaning
      Positive lockout for leakproof transport
Wide-mouth opening is easy to fill with ice and water and a breeze to clean
Also keeps warm beverages warm during cool weather rides
CamelBak(R), Got Your Bak(TM), Guarantee: If we built it, we'll Bak it(TM), with our lifetime guarantee

So to simply answer your question. Yes its a water bottle. Prob a good one based on the features.

    • +4

Yep it keeps water cooler for longer periods. It comes in handy in Summer especially. It's a well made, durable water bottle which retails for $25 each. I have been using them for over a year and highly recommend them hence why I posted this deal :)

  • +1

got one for my ride to work, hope its better than the $4 kmart one I have now

    • +1

I'm sure it will be. Nothing beats some cold water after a warm commute in summer :)

    • I think I have the same one, it came with a field pump and a bike lock. It makes the water taste like plastic pretty bad.

  • +6

camelbak ice is better, better insulation and will keep it cooler for a bit longer, but to be honest, if it's really hot no amount of insulation will keep the water cold for a decent period of time.

they discontinued the ice for a while, but i found it on ribblecycles recently and ordered a few. it's a bit better than these.

the chill versions stay cold for 30-60mins

tbh you're better off half freezing, or just freezing a 2nd bottle for hot rides

and this price isn't that great, i've had it for about the same price for the full size 750ml bottles elsewhere.

    • +1

yeah but the Camelbak Ice is $26 + postage at Ribble.

Camelbak podium chill goes well with Netflix and keeps the bottles chilled for longer than 60 minutes. Checked mine after a 2 hour ride and they were still cold today. Depends on your conditions too I guess.

      • i paid about $20. mind you they've recently had a 10% price bump on everything, and they usually have 10% off sales, so cancels that out.

        • +1

That's true, gotta wait for those sales. With the way the Aussie dollar is heading, price bumps will be a common occurrence :(

    • Full size 750ml is the non insulated version of the same bottle, right? Those were cheaper than the insulated if I remember correctly at rebel.

      • On the camelbak web site. The 750ml is also double wall insulation. I think they are the same but just larger. Cheers.

  • Thanks op, bought 10

    • Nice, always good to have a few for future use and presents :)

  • +1

Dick's selling water bottle as well now? Good thing they ditched the "Electronics" moniker awhile ago.

    • +2

They are also selling small appliances now too. Diversifying their product base.

Good to have more competition in these markets as it will drive the prices lower :)

  • Keep in mind that it's the same as a full size bottle but only holds 600ml due to the insulation. personally, I would just use a normal bottle and fill with ice or part freeze the bottle first.

    • whoah I didn't know that. That's a bit misleading

      • +1

Not it's not. I'm sure the description states its volume accurately.

  • Hi, is this bargain useful at all for non cyclists?

    • +3

Do you use a water bottle? If yes, then yes.

      • Yes I do use a water bottle. I'm just trying to understand what is so good about this particular one?!

I usually just use 1 or 2 x 500ml bottled water when I go walking or running.

  • I would get it but I prefer water bottles with a cap over the mouth piece so it doesn't get dirty if I keep it in my bag…

    • +5

      I dislike dirtbags too

      • especially teenage ones.

        • that listen to iron maiden.

        • baby.

  • +2

    these are great bottles.

    insulation works quite well.

bottles are made of good plastic.

coated with special stuff to keep bacteria free.

nozzles have a lock so they dont drip everywhere, and they shoot out a good stream of water without having to suck your eyeballs into your head.

    great deal.

  • +5

I bought one of these last time they were on sale, and I have probably drunk about 100 litres through it. It is ok for the price, however it has a tendency sometimes to makes random noises if there is some air trapped.

I have this insulated thermos one which is heaps better, it keeps the water much, much cooler than the Camelbak. After taking it around the world, it is a bit grotty which is why I got the Camelbak, however with the Amazon Amex 15% off deal, I might get another one: http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Vacuum-Insulated-Stainless-Hyd…

    • hahaha yeah!!! a couple of times i have listened closely to figure out what is wrong with my car or computer and then to realise its coming from the bottle

    • That ticking noise is why I don't by Camelbacks any more. I like my Contigo.

    • The Thermos you linked to is on sale and it's the cheapest it's been in the last year. With postage it comes to $29.51 AU though.

  • +1
    • Yep works like a treat, great review too :)

Selling fast guys, get in quick before they are all gone :)

  • Can I buy in store?! Will it be of same price or RRP?

    • +1

No you have to click and collect at your local Dick Smith via eBay using the CDICKSMITH30 coupon. Hope this helps :)

      • Thanks OP, bought 3. 2 Crimson and 1 Race on. But the coupon code got applied to crimson bottles only. Got charged $18.36 for Race on Bottle. Can anything be done now?

        • I don't understand why it didn't apply to all three. Did you add them all to your basket and pay for them at the same time after applying the code?

I suggest contacting Ebay/PayPal and see if they can refund you the discount.

        • @ShamelessBargains:
Yeah added everything then applied the code. Sent a mail to dicksmith. Will send mails to ebay and paypal also. lets see if they will do something

        • @haiprazzad: Yeah I hope they fix it up for you. Keep us updated :)

        • @ShamelessBargains:

Yeah I hope so too. I am very concerned. Let us know how it goes mate

        • @first in line: Sure will do

        • @haiprazzad:

          Any updates? I'm worried…

  • Showed me the discount but have been charged original amount on PayPal !!
    Anyone with this issue?

    • +2

Its ok, paypal didn't charge you the original amount, you only paid the discounted price……How many times do people have to be told….:(

      • +1

Oh yeah got it. It's been a long time since I bought discounted stuff on eBay.
        Thanks for the reminder

  • About 1 litre, stainless steel, and no worries about plastic taste, BPA, plastisizers etc.

    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XK9EFBS?psc=1

    Any thoughts?

    • "This item does not ship to Canberra, Australia. Please check other sellers who may ship internationally."
      Also, it's in USD.

  • The last thing I need is yet another water bottle for the gym……but bought one anyway.

    • You won't regret it though. I'm hooked on Camelpak bottles and you will be soon too haha :)

  • +1

I have 2 camelback water bottles and neither fit in the console cup holders is my ute. (I have the 600ml and the 1 ltr)
Anyone know of a good narrow body one?

  • +1

I dont think I need one but here for the people who want one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Mwu059xD2k

    • someone already posted this video mate :)

  • I will just use my work fridge

    • You carry that around when you commute to and from work? Nice!

      • I walk 10 mins to work.

  • +1

Have seen Camelbaks in local DS store and thought WTF crazy idea to sell these in an 'Electronics' store along with a 2nd WTF at the high price of such mere water bottles. C'mon, really?!

But ….. with 30% off I figured what the heck and have grabbed a couple to try. :)

    Gotta love OzBargain.

    • Haha that's the power of Ozbargain right there. Luckily these are great quality bottles which you will definitely use and get your money's worth :)

    • Errr…I hate to point out the obvious, but these are plastic bottles. There's a huge margin.

      • +1

Another obvious point is that your argument relates to most things.

  • +3

I've been through 3-4 water bottles and camelbak is the best one so far.
The nozzle tends to get dirty if you dont clean it regularly though.

    • +1

Yeah I agree, gotta look after the nozzle as it builds up dirt if you don't clean it regularly.

  • +2

If I get bankrupt one day, ozBargain is to blame :P Did saved 100's but ~$2k poorer over last week. Finally it's time to relax and drink some cold water using my Crimson Camelbak :D

    • What did you buy for 2k?

      • +1

        156 Camelbaks?

        Good investment :)

        • Haha, not quite. I got a Lenovo laptop, Withings Activite POP smartwatch, 10gm Gold bar, Eneloop family pack, Samsung wireless charger and a Camelbak so far. I've decided not to use ozBargain for few weeks now. Oh no, why am I still using it. Bbye :P

        • @singhdeals: Nice haul, keep up the good work :)

  • I'm getting thirsty just looking at it!

There used to be a much better Camelbak insulation but the company that made them closed down :( Shame as they stayed cooler by at least 2-3x

    • That's interesting, they must use a thinner insulation now. Do you know if you can still buy the older models?

      • I don't think its just the thin/thickness of the insulation but the combination of the right materials

And nope, could check ebay though. At the time I bought my Camelbak (about 2 years ago) the decent ones were going for around $30 excl p&h imported from the US
