It does say "two cultured freshwater button 9mm pearls", so i guess it is. Crazy. I'll get a pair for my half-sister, or a couple for my mum and sister-in-law if you can buy more than 1 pair.

They would be real pearls, just not of a fantastic quality.
Indeed. Button pearls can be picked up quite cheap. They're essentially a squished (looking) pearl but ideal for applications such as earrings.
As Timski mentioned, the grade/quality of the pearl would be quite low so they wouldn't have the sheen of a high quality pearl.
Still, a reasonable price.

This looks to be a good deal by comparison with a few quick eBay searches… unless you were buying them in bulk (12-50 pairs) quantities from a few chinese sellers.
