Budget Waterproof Smartphones

I currently have a Nexus 5 but I am about to move overseas and start being outdoors a lot more, in tougher conditions.

Anyone got any suggestions for low cost phones with half decent features so I don't get too shocked leaving the Nexus.

High chance of me getting mugged so need to keep it unattractive and painless to replace.

Thanks!

Oh and will only have 700 and 900 frequencies.

I've travelled just about everywhere. I've always taken whatever smart phone I had at the time with a decent otterbox or lifeproof case.

Get travel insurance so you don't worry about it getting stolen. It's definitely worth having a decent phone while travelling.

    • Fair enough. Got any case recommendations?

  • Don't understand why people want waterproof smartphones ? So they can talk while swimming or taking a shower ? lol

    • OP said hed be outdoors in tougher conditions, with a high chance of getting mugged.

so probably a rough neighborhood in Antarctica or something - its always moist and wet in that part of the world.

Or maybe a South American rainforest - uncivilised tribes may be looking out for smartphones these days to check facebook or ebay, perhaps even tinder.

    This plus one of these

  • Blackview BV5000

    • it's on sale at gearbest for US$159.99 at the moment

i have a Blackview alife pro. reasonable phone. similar specs to this waterproof one. Ok camera -inside pics not too great (not terrible -mediocre) but outside pics are decent.

  • The sony M4 aqua can be had for not much over $300. Local vesion from optus or JB is only 8gb, for the same price a grey import 16gb model would be the one I would go for.
