250 Free Flybuys Points for Getting a Friend to Join Flybuys (Conditions Apply)

70

I redeemed $10 worth of flybuys dollars today and was invited to share my redemption with a friend in order to receive 250 bonus points.

The following is from the confirmation email after the redemption.

"share your reward
tell your friends about your latest reward redemption and when they
register with flybuys and spend $30 you'll receive 250 bonus points

Terms and Conditions

Bonus points will be awarded to existing flybuys members who refer a new
member (New Member) to flybuys by sharing the electronic links provided
after the New Member registers and completes a qualifying transaction.
The New Member must sign up with flybuys by clicking through the
electronic links, completing the online registration and spending $30 at
Coles supermarkets in store or online in one transaction within 6 weeks
of registration. Bonus points will be credited to your flybuys account
within 48 hours of the New Member completing their qualifying transaction.

Points may be reversed where the New Members qualifying transaction is
cancelled or a refund is given. We reserve the right to terminate,
change or otherwise deal with this promotion in any way. Standard
flybuys terms and conditions and the flybuys Privacy Policy apply."

I don't have facebook or twitter accounts so I'm not going to be chasing $1.25 worth of points but I thought others may be interested. It appears that anyone who makes a redemption for flybuys dollars and possibly other rewards will get the notation at the bottom of the confirmation email. This is the first redemption I have done for a few weeks so I'm not sure how long the promotion has been going. Remember, one of the best ways to get lots of flybuys points is to have a separate membership for each adult member of the household. This strategy means you get at least twice the number of targeted offers and your minimum spends don't go up as often as each member only looks like a semi-regular customer.

FYI 250 flybuys points equal $1.25

Which was stated in the OP….

"I don't have facebook or twitter accounts so I'm not going to be chasing $1.25 worth of points"

Can't blame him for not noticing it within that wall of text though.

but I thought others may be interested

doubt it, not for a dollar….

    • You could upgrade your wardrobe : ) ??

But I need a dollar, dollar, dollar is all I need!

I'm sure Flybys knowingly uses their point scheme to hoodwink unsuspecting people to obscure the true value of their offerings.

    • "Sell your friend for us, for a lifetime, in exchange for $1.25"

hmmm doesn't have the same ring to it… let's try again…

    • "250 Free Flybuys Points for Getting a Friend to Join"

… much better… almost sounds like $250 cash! maybe to you and your friend?!

    • Agree. Not worth it!

        • +6

Agree not worth it, but downvoted your comment because thats not the way to use a negative vote here at Ozbargain.

Might not be worth it, but it's still a legimate offer.

Others might not agree with us so let the deal stand so they can make up their own minds

          @RockyRaccoon:

Bloody hell, can't I downvote without being negged? V_V

Your friend has to spend $30 for you to get $1.25! If I was your friend and didn't have/want Flybuys I would rather give you directly $1.25 in cash :)
To make it a descent deal they should offer $5-10 to both referrer and referree IMHO

Just create a new account under a different name / address.
Register the temporary paper card you get in-store and spend the $30.
    Chuck out the temporary card.
Collect your 250 points on your account.
    Rinse and repeat.

    • How many points would you forgo on your main account by spending $30 under a second account?

      • Up to 90 points depending on how you paid

Flybuys is 1 point per $ spend so 30 points
Paying with Coles MasterCard is either another 2 points per $ (60 points) or 1 point per $2 (15 points)

So I see for the sake of only really getting 160-220 for the trouble is probably not worth it

flybuys is not worth it any more since they took away the 500 bonus points (which used to be 1000 bonus points) a month for doing the tell coles survey.

  • As an avid point chaser, this does not appeal to me at all. Wouldnt waste my time and effort for this measly 250 point offer.
