Whats the quality of these like? I am on the lookout for a new set of pc speakers.

    • good question if they are anything like the previous model they are the standard for all systems to aspire to for the price i would rate them very good for all applications Home theatre , pc or just music they give a good response for real surround sound and usually each part has 2 speakers inside

  • Not bad, got some for ~$120 a year or two back. They seem to lack bass, could just be bad output from the PC.

    • I get good bass out of mine , there is a knob at the back of the subwoofer(x530) brings the bass up nicely does the x540 have the same ?

      • It's on the little control panel thing.

I also own a pair of X230 or whatever they are (the 2.1 popular ones, been around forever) and they pump out some bass, almost to the point it just gets distorted. This set should surely be better. I imagine it's the output quality, eventually I'll plug it into something which outputs 5.1 sound and see how they perform.

        • "almost to the point it just gets distorted."
That is not a good thing…..

          • @PainToad: That's why if I turn the volume up I turn the bass down a bit.

  • they are good i got these two weeks ago from cotd for 80 dollars along with my ps3 for 350 :)
    good bang for buck

    • How are you doing 5.1 with these from PS3, they don't have HDMI in. External amp?

  • yea thats the bodgey bit its got some matrix button or something on it that makes it surround its not the best but i am happy with it in my room. i got the 360 in the lounge room on hdmi surround sound and it is very good compared but that is a 3k set up in there with klipsch stuff but for ur bedroom or pc it will do i think

    • Hmm sorry but that's marketing bs, stereo inputs can't magically become 5.1. Well sound may come out 6 speakers, but it's not 5.1 :P

      • It adds an "effect" to try and make it sound like surround, similar to those effects some audio drivers on the comp come with how you can pick "concert hall" and whatnot. It doesn't make it 5.1 but it at least uses all 5 speakers ok.

  • I picked up these for 86 at Big W 3 years ago. Still great speakers for the price, doesn't compare to my Z5500s though.
    Good for quick audio fix.

  • these were on sale @ wireless1 for $85.. i went yesterday to pick up a pair but the salesman said the special ended on the 15th and now they're back to $99 normal.. he was offering me $89 for them.. but it made me think twice.. i'd rather save up more for some 2nd hand z5500's.. or at least wait for fluidtek/logitechshop to have an awesome special
