Ad a $5 item and then use the $25 code from the newsletter sign up. and get it for $125

    • I bought it for $159 - $25 = $134 from HN few weeks back, fantastic phone. It was a replacement for my 735 (cracked glass after a hard drop), which I bought from OZB deal in late 2014.

Please note the cover is blue in color.

    • what can you get for $5??

  • +2

can the phone be unlocked ?

    • @scotty, can we put a wiki entry on "How to unlock'? (on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/category:mobile)

    • Or if you don't mind Vodafone can currently buy a $30 cap prepaid starter kit for $10 from Coles. I just picked up one yesterday from my local Coles supermarket which sells mobile phones and SIM cards. It's a standard/micro SIM dual punch kit.

      • Kmart has been selling this $30 pack for $5 for a while.

    • There is no pressing need to unlock, you simply buy for the correct network. Telstra is $179 or Optus $149

      • Is the Officeworks price a deal or their regular pricing?

    • +1

Can anyone who purchased it confirm that they are indeed locked?

The Lumia 735 I got last year also on Voda was actually unlocked.

      • I will let you know in a few hours when I pick it up and get home.

My order is ready for pickup now and I'll be getting it on the way home.

Either way, Vodafone unlock is free, is it not? (I raelly hope so …. we are locked to telechoice)

      • Locked to Vodafone :S

I hope this is easy to get unlocked.

        • Was it easy, what did it cost?

        • @Low Punt:

It's apparently going to cost $75 to unlock! Not so much of a bargain now.

I'm going to try to get it unlocked for free over the phone though.

        • @Stubo:
$25 off if you do it online… not sure if that makes if $50 or it was $100.. Hope you do it for you.

        • @Low Punt:

Yeah, 100 through customer care, $25 off to make it $75 online :(

      • Unlikely to be the dual sim variant of this model also. Standard tel-co, and missed opportunity. Supposing that it has 850 4G?

  • I'm looking for the Lumia 640 XL.

  • looking forward 950XL. finger crossing it is below 1000.

    • As i remember, 950XL is around $650

      • $1199 RRP in Australia infact

        • Wtf,so pricy

        • @duodeta: Sure is, not helped by the exchange rate either.

        • @happychild100:

I would rather buy an iPhone at that price, not "Microsoft" phone

        • @kendo: What's wrong with a Microsoft phone? The price might be quite high for this but it's got some crazy specs too afterall

      • that $650 is US dollar without sales tax.

      • USD649.

    • +1

Buy from USA. USD650 + around $60 tax = $710 but can get discounted price in Nov (Thanks giving) & Dec (Xmas) deals. I am buying too.

    • Alright, Aud$1199. Party is over.

  • Posting from one of these now. Good phone but windows app support is the biggest drawback. Will change back to android in near future.

Best pro is reception. When I'm out on any of our farms always get some kind of reception.

  • Not sure whether to go one of these or wait for a deal on a 640XL

  • Cheers, got one

  • You should probably edit the original post to include the $25 code, Welcome25B5O6FR.

    $125 is a bit better than $150 :)

    • What's that code for? Does it works? I didn't thought there would be a universal code.

  • Glad I picked up the unlocked 830 when they were $199. Still amazed by the camera on that phone. Nothing else comes close at less than $200. The 640 is a good choice now. The 550 that is replacing it I believe is a downgrade for similar cost.

    • This is to replace my wife's smashed 830.

No place around here will fix the screen for less than $250 :( And off eBay and doing a DIY job is still about $170+.

So stupid :( She's going to really miss that camera.

  • 950XL is hot!! I've never had a windows mobile phone but very tempted ~~

    • $1200 for a plastic phone with the worse ecosystem? Windows phone are great in the sub $200 region if you are happy to put up with compromises of poor browser and poor apps. At $1200 probably better buying an iPhone.

      • I'd rather die before buy any Apple products. I thought the 950XL would be sub 400-500 quid?

        • +1

Not with this exchange rate. It is up at $1000+. But hey, the 950xl is basically a computer now, it even has liquid cooling in it.

Don't buy one at launch. People are already predicting they will be a few hundred less after a few months.

        • Haha nope, Microsoft already announced rhe pricing and it won't be that cheap for a while. I wouldn't buy any phone at the prices Microsoft are wanting. However iPhone is the best phone to buy at ridiculous prices since it maintains better resale value.

The liquid calling i think is a gimmick. It still using Qualcomm soc like most other flagship phones do.

        • @Ronnnie: It's hardly a gimmick if it helps cool the chip/phone from overheating.. I believe the 810 chip has had some heating issues so i imagine the liquid cooling is to help that.

        • The 950xl is going for 550pounds or $1199 here. The normal 950 is 450pounds or $1099 here.

        • @happychild100:

The big question here is if

        • @Ronnnie: I suppose. I would hope MS have learnt from the issues with other 810 chip phones and made sure theirs won't do the same. If they haven't, then they are going to have a real problem selling them and i won't bother to buy it either.

        • @happychild100:

I believe that all manufactures using the 810 now have change their phone designs to cope with the extra heat that the chip generates. I also believe it wasn't really an issue in real world use, only when repeatedly running benchmarks over and over. Also Samsung didn't have the issue with their exynos chips because they built their chips on their own superior process. If it's not a gimmick and actually cools the chip better than what other manufacturers are achieving, it'll be interesting to see if it can match or even beat the exynos 7420.
